All overnight camping has been stopped. due to people leaving mess

Place de parking pour l'hôtel/bar/restaurant "The Grotto". Toilettes publiques près de l'entrée du parking mais ouvertes uniquement jusqu'à 9h30... Les toilettes de la grotte et l'accès à la plage sont indiqués pour "clients uniquement" mais un achat de nourriture et/ou de boisson coche cette case ! Machines Pay & Display dans le parking assez plat - tarif 5 £ par nuit (24 heures). La couverture CCTV est bonne, donc je me sentais très en sécurité. Promenades côtières dans les deux sens.

Parking spot for "The Grotto" hotel/bar/restaurant. Public toilets near carpark entrance but only open until 9:30... Grotto WC and beach access is signposted for "customers only" but a food and/or drink purchase ticks that box! Pay & Display machines in the fairly flat level car park - fee £5 per night (24hrs). CCTV coverage good so felt very safe & secure. Coastal walks in either direction.

Parkplatz für das Hotel/Bar/Restaurant „The Grotto“. Öffentliche Toiletten in der Nähe des Parkplatzeingangs, aber nur bis 9:30 Uhr geöffnet... Der Zugang zum Grotto-WC und zum Strand ist „nur für Kunden“ ausgeschildert, aber ein Kauf von Speisen und/oder Getränken ist ein Muss! Bezahlautomaten auf dem recht ebenen Parkplatz – Gebühr 5 £ pro Nacht (24 Stunden). Die CCTV-Abdeckung war gut und wir fühlten uns sehr sicher und geborgen. Küstenwanderungen in beide Richtungen.
Plaza de aparcamiento para el hotel/bar/restaurante "La Gruta". Los baños públicos cerca de la entrada del estacionamiento, pero solo abren hasta las 9:30 ... El baño de la gruta y el acceso a la playa están señalizados como "solo para clientes", ¡pero una compra de comida y / o bebida cumple esa casilla! Máquinas de pago y exhibición en el estacionamiento de nivel bastante plano: tarifa de £ 5 por noche (24 horas). Nos despertamos después de una noche de lluvia en un charco bastante grande, ¡así que ten cuidado cuando salgas por la mañana! Gran vista de Marsden Rock & Beach. La cobertura de CCTV es buena, así que me sentí muy seguro. Paseos costeros en cualquier dirección.

mossy12329/07/2023Beautiful spot with stunning views and a cafe/restaurant with very friendly staff. Cafe has sheltered outdoor seating by the beach, which was perfect with a cuppa after a long journey. Car park machines only take coins, but staff in restaurant were happy to give change. They said not to bother with paying for parking because it wouldn’t be checked (I arrived at ~8.30pm and charges are until 10).

gorgeous spot. Public loos by the enterance opened at about 7am. if you have a high bed at the back of your van and open your back doors you get a lovely view of the rock and sea when you're laying in bed. quiet at night, only a couple of other cars were parked

excellent for bird watchers, Great views. £5 from 8 to10 pm good food and drink in the Grotto, one other campervan in carpark. Good nights sleep

Excellent view and quiet spot. Getting down to the Grotto restaurant for WC & food requires either many steep stairs, or a £1 suggested donation for the lift (i.e. no services at street level). A few other overnighters there too. Bring an eye mask for the street lights if in a car.
peterlongman08/02/2022we had a lovely stay here. it was very quiet so we put our van side ways to the sea :). went down to the grotto and had a drink just by the beach. night was quiet and no trouble. walked into South Shields along the national trust paths. toilets next to the parking spot were open during the day too! all fine, recommended.
