Knockan Crag National Nature Reserve car park. Sheltered from the wind and not far from Ullapool. Very good bivouac for hiking, e.g. the small circular path in the Geopark or in the direction of "Cul Mòr". That's the mountain across the street. Park sparingly so others can visit this square. Ps. From here no/poor telephone network reception.

Fantastic spot to spend the night. It was around 30mph winds when we arrived, and we found a nice sheltered spot in the trees which meant we had a restful nights sleep. Incredible views, and spotless toilets that are open 24 hours. A couple of other campers there with us. couldn’t recommend enough.

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

Fantastic views and walks, especially at sunset! Toilets were open all night & cleaner than expected. It was busy when we arrived but peaceful and it is raised enough from the road to not notice any passing traffic. Will definitely stop here again if in the area. £10 donation in the honesty box or via app

We ended up parking here during a storm and still felt really safe. We watched the wind and rain rolling through the valley. Park ups are flat, toilets open 24hrs, views are good, off the road so minimal noise. Overall great park up.

  • 5/5

Quite, amazing view, not on the main road and there are public toilets available also at night!

  • 5/5

Quiet, felt safe, flat spots available, not many midges. Great!

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet night. Sits above the main road so feels safe. Public toilets open all night. They weren’t that clean and had run out of toilet roll but a bonus anyway! A beautiful view in the morning. Quite a few midges but to be expected.

  • 4/5

Big parking lot for at least 6 motorhomes if everybody leaves a respectful but not an unreasonable space between the other motorhomes. Space for several vans as well, toilets are clean (for the ladies: you can lock the whole ladies room from the inside as well, not just the stalls!). The parking lot is quite uneven and has quite a decline. Fresh water tap available (to refill bottles).

  • 5/5

This was a great stopover on our way down the west coast. Toilet facilities available but sadly people have been using the sanitary bins as litter bins. Please don’t do this! Donation box available and stunning views over the loch. Fairly quiet even with 6 other vehicles parked for the night. Everyone was respectful and a really nice stay!

  • 5/5

Small and busy parking lot. Toilets and drinking water available. £10 donation suggested if staying overnight. Great views of the lakes and mountains and very nice short walk around the Geopark. Almost no phone signal.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

£10 donation asked. Amazing view, free toilets and water point. 40 minutes loop up the hill with beautiful point of views. Even had the visit of a few deer in the evening. Definitely recommend it !

  • 5/5

best place ever, 10f donation, toilets with sinks and mirrors open 24hrs, drinking water, great trail near by, spectacular view, deers by evening all around parking, great

  • 5/5

Donation of £10.00 required to the park but location and having toilets 24hr was worth it. drinking water tap onsite. Quiet and felt really safe. Walked the trails in the morning and the information boards are great . Would not hesitate to stay again if on the NC500 . views beautiful.

  • 5/5

Great little spot! Toilets open all night and freshwater too. Woke up in the morning surrounded by a dozen deer grazing. Nice and quiet, definitely recommend

  • 5/5

Stunning views of the mountains, especially at night. Toilets and water tap. Saw two red stags. One other there when we stayed. No bins so take own rubbish with you.

  • 5/5

Brilliant park up! Great views, drinking water tap available and toilets too. Around 10 other camper, would recommend

  • 4/5

beautiful quiet spot, lovely walks, clean toilets and deer all around. plenty spaces.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Amazing place to stop! Toilets are pretty clean and plenty of spaces. Electric car charging point is available. We saw a red stag while parking here! 100% recommended

  • 5/5

Prachtige uitzichten, wc’s hartstikke schoon! Heel fijn deze plekken!

  • 5/5

Great spot off the road in a popular carpark for campers. We counted 8 of us but there is plenty of space and everyone was respectful. Access to drinking water and toilets was a plus. Overall great spot, nice views, little road noise and a nice walk around the nature reserve if you are up for it. Consider giving a donation to the nature reserve to keep this place going

  • 5/5

Great spot with fun little trail and great facilities. (Fresh water and toilets) Make sure you leave before the coaches arrive. They block the entire parking.

  • 5/5

This is a lovely one-night stop off. It has the most gorgeous views and a lovely little walk up to the viewpoint. There are public toilets and there is a drinking water tap for refills. Please do leave a donation for the nature reserve ❤️

  • 5/5

By far the best place we parked in the whole if the Highlands. there is running water & toilets here. the views are incredible.

  • 5/5

Spent a really quiet night in March here. Toilets are spotless. No bins so take your rubbish away. This is a perfect little spot. NB if you read the notice board, a donation of £10 per night is requested by Nature Scot who own the land. You pay by text. I think this is a very fair price for the views, location and facilities. Please make sure you donate. It's worth every penny.

  • 5/5

Great little spot with great views. We only stopped for lunch but were very glad of the water tap and the toilets

  • 5/5

Lovely spot with fascinating geology. No bins, but there is water and toilets - a sign requests no black waste to be put down toilets, so we didn’t.

  • 5/5

Had a quiet night here. Lovely view water and 24 hour toilets. Had a chat with a lovely man called Peter who keeps the toilets clean. Thank you Peter

  • 5/5

Great place to park for the night fresh water for drinking and toilets nice walk up the mountain at the back and great views .we stayed here last Thursday night lots of others and just down the road from bone cave so very convenient.

  • 4/5

Nothing to add that's not already been said. Good surface, plenty of space but can get busy (10 MH the evening we arrived and we got the last spot at 6pm). Lost about 5 pints of blood to the hungry midges and if it hadn't been raining the views would have been superb. Toilets OK, not as clean as everyone made out but they are open and do work (but smell soooo bad!)

  • 5/5

Great spot for an overnight stay, got busy around 9am with all the walkers.

  • 5/5

Plenty of parking flat tarmac and accessible toilets 24 hours. Fresh water available but no bins. There is an incline to access parking We arrived early evening managed a walk across ridge behind parking area before thousands of midge descended. We then had to spend evening in our van. Next morning nice and clear - very few midge and excellent views

  • 5/5

Brilliant place to stay. Free drinking water easily accessible, good for filling larger containers. We were the only camper that stayed overnight and we are in August! Clean public toilets open all night with automatic light. Weather wasn’t great so not many midges. Sign says max stay one night, no bins provided take all rubbish with you. Please respect the rules so it remains open to campers!

  • 5/5

Great view. Breezy so not many midgies. Nice little trail walk, toilets open all night. Stags and does grazing in front of us at dusk and dawn. Fantastic.

  • 5/5

We arrived late and went for an interesting hike on Knockan Crag national park. We didn’t use toilets, had a quiet night and left early

  • 5/5

Beautiful views, quiet and toilet open all night. No phone reception.

  • 5/5

    Loved it here

  • 3/5

Beautiful spot but quiet a lot of midges at 5.30pm at the end of September, so we left.

  • 5/5

Beautiful views of the Loch and mountains. Saw an amazing sunset. Seems like a popular place to park up for the night, nice to have others around to feel less vulnerable. There are public toilets here too which is a perk! Great spot, just off the road too so it's quieter and safer.

  • 5/5

Stayed here on a Saturday night, arrived just before 8 and there was a couple of spaces left. Nice view over the Loch, small walk from the car park is good. Site has toilet facilities open.

  • 5/5

Lovely spot. Sunset views. No midges on our visit.

  • 5/5

Parked our MH round by the trees and by the picnic table to try and shelter from the wind. can't hear the road and very quiet. very popular but plenty of room and didn't get full the night we stayed. toilets were basic but in a MH so didn't use

  • 4/5

We pitched up here on the flat bit of grass next to the picnic table. No room at the campsites that we're open and it started raining so needs must. Very popular with motor homes, beautiful spot and toilets too which are very well setup for "the Rona situation" A good find :)

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

Stayed the night. No midges a few mozzie bites. Toilets are clean. Water not suitable for drinking or washing food. Nice hike around the hills in the morning before setting off for Ullapool.

  • 5/5

Pas de service. Vue magnifique.

  • 4/5

Toilets available, flat tarmac surface. quite.

  • 3/5

  • 5/5

Lovely spot at Knockan crag nature reserve. Toilets are open 24/7. Spent all night surrounded by deer.

  • 4/5

  • 5/5
