(CA11 0NZ) Penrith - Kirkstone Pass

Been here a few times fantastic and peaceful views.

Come and see it for yourself. Breath taking views. The car park as described, gets busy during the day, which is no big surprise.

Sehr schöner Schotterparkplatz. Kleiner Fluss direkt in der nähe und Schafe an den Hängen. Straße in der Nacht sehr ruhig, wird ab 07:00 belebter.

Views looking north are excellent and a good spot that needs looking after and respecting. The pub nearby must be one of the highest in England.

Toller Platz. Nachts sehr ruhig. Leider war ein unangenehmer Zeitgenosse da, der zuerst mal alles beim Feuer machen eingenebelt hat und dann Morgens ewig den Motor hat laufen lassen bevor er los gefahren ist und dann auch noch einfach dort sein ganzes Grauwasser abgelassen hat. Wegen solchen Leuten werden dann so tolle Plätze gesperrt :-(

Amazing spot, set back from the road. Few vans there, some parked more disrespectfully than others. Excellent views for a sunset, stars came out at night. Gate into walking areas.

Stayed here overnight in our campervan. Two other vans parked up. Great views,quiet later and overnight. Part sloping but fine.

Great views and felt safe to stay overnight. Also perfect starting point for hikes. No bins and only flat on one side of carpark, otherwise perfect spot.

Quite busy with around 6 vans camping but plenty of room for everyone! We did it in a Lwb sprinter, parked up in the dark and fog but it was a lovely view to wake up to! However, there was quite a bit of rubbish left behind so be sure to pick up anything you find around your van to try and clean it up a bit!

Arrived in the evening, only ones there, woke up to a full car park so definitely a good spot! Very windy roads to get to, but lovely views! Very quiet overnight despite being very windy, lots of sheep

Arrived on a foggy, rainy and relatively windy evening. Parked up no bother and we were plenty level (right hand side of carpark!). Beautiful stream nearby to dip your toes. Thankfully tidy, and we were the only people there all night! Possibly due to the weather. Whilst quite exposed we felt safe and enjoyed the fog over the hills. Got up in a 3.5t motorhome, slowly but surely!

Ein sehr schöner Platz! Die Straße neben dem Parkplatz ist nachts quasi gar nicht befahren. Die Zufahrt von Süden ist allerdings relativ eng, und mit breiteren Fahrzeugen (wir haben einen Alkoven mit 2,3m) muss man sich darauf einstellen, mehrmals zurückzusetzen um entgegenkommenden Verkehr durchzulassen. Es gibt bestimmt 20 Stellplätze, wobei es in erste Reihe auch locker 4 sind.

Really lovely spot, especially if you get one of the three spots to the right as you pull in, the other side of the car park to the left isn’t truly flat, it’s on a slight slope but nothing too extreme. Stayed here one night at the weekend and would definitely stay again. Road noise died down around 11pm.

La vue est incroyable ! Ça vaut vraiment le détour. La route pour y accéder est plutôt étroite, attention si vous avez un gros véhicule. Comme c’est assez haut, vous pouvez vous retrouver dans les nuages ce qui donne une ambiance fort sympathique, avec le bruit des brebis

Great views. Only a few spots are level. Little stream nearby. Was woken multiple times in morning by helicopter noises. Maybe it's under a helicopter flight path? Honesty box provided to pay for visit. Gets very busy from about 9am as people pull in just to take photo and drive off again.

What a great spot. We stayed here overnight in our roof tent. Very quiet considering it’s next to a road. The views were stunning and a great spot to watch a sunset

Still closed look like it isn’t finishing anytime soon due to all the construction equipment in that area.

Quite a few potholes. Was so foggy when we went that we couldn’t see anything most of the time but might be better with better weather. No toilets nearby. But really quiet, barely any cars passed. We were the only ones there all night.

the view looked brilliant, but there were some very inconsiderate parking going on when we arrived last night from campervans who had spread their cars about.

Super Platz mit toller Aussicht. Absolut empfehlenswert. Um 3£ Spende wird gebeten, was absolut fair ist.

Stayed here 01 June 2022 - first wild camp! Amazing views and had a great night sleep with no extra sounds.

Room with a view and fairly level just below the summit on Kirkstone Pass. (First cum, best view). We will stop again

Lovely view. Isn’t the flattest bit of parking but will do for a night or 2 lovely surrounding area. No service for neither me or my partner on 02 and 3.

Stayed 29/12/21. Lovely view (when the clouds cleared). Fairly level, although we were the only van there so got first pick. Couple of youngsters in cars there until 9ish but no problems. No sign saying no overnight parking but it asks for a donation. In the daytime the road was pretty busy, but nice and quiet at night.

Gorgeous stop over. Car noise until about 10pm. No one bothered us all night. I did a tidy up when we arrived as someone had dumped the contents of their rubbish bag along the fence line. Please take your rubbish home and respect the land and animals. Wildlife do not need your rubbish. It isn't healthy for them.

Amazing views no sign stating no overnight. Just a voluntary contribution of £3-£5 . Enough for 4 vans looking over valley. Just some innocent stoners turned up for 30 mins.

04/09/21 stayed for two nights in the van, arrived very late and still a few spaces left. Is next to the road but is quiet at night. Good view would stay again.

Flat, good view, 2 other campers stayed but very little traffic and a good starting point for red scree or stony cove pike

Really great spot! Flat ground and only a few other camper the night we stayed, loads of room. Incredible view.

Stayed the night last night. Beautiful views and night and to wake up to. Pub not far down the road which does really basic pub grub. Some walks nearby! Got a little busy later on so get there earlier to get a good spot!

Great spot to park up for the night. We were joined by two other campervans at around 11pm and had a quiet night there. Got busier in the morning with people coming by to take pictures of the amazing views. Stream nearby and picnic bench, no facilities so take your rubbish with you!

Nice car park, box for donations, great view down valley to Patterdale, my relay and another bit room for 6-8 big vans

Small gravel car park with great views down to Brothers Water. Room enough for a 4/5 campers but only one side is level. Very quiet after 9pm, good night's sleep and nice walk up the hill in the morning.

Stunning location. Amazing views. Very wuiet night, with just a couple other vans. Space for many. Not national trust as title says, so free to park here with donation. We will be back!

Ich hab hier mit meinem Van geparkt. Super super Schöne Aussicht. Voraussetzung: gutes Wetter! Wir waren im Sturm dort oben und konnten keinen Meter weiter blicken, kann also sehr gefährlich werden, auch so ohne Empfang. Ansonsten super schöne Wanderwege, direkt an einem Fluss, Schafe die herumlaufen und meist hat man auf diesem großen Parkplatz Gesellschaft.

A great find as we were passing through Ullswater. We Stayed here for 2 nights, the 1st night there were 6 Van's the 2nd we were the only ones but both nights were peacefull throughout the evening and night. Lovely views and kids enjoyed climbing both hills. Def recommend

Amazing views found this while looking for a place to spend the night. Lots of people stop for photos but at night there was a few vans but everyone kept their distance which was good. river on the opposite side is nice and wide perfect to cool yourself down in and get clean water to wash stuff. No signal but walk/driveup the road to the Inn and you will be able to get signal if you need it
