Great, free, parking on a one way street. Plenty of good free spots alongside the cemetery, between the Glebe Rd and Braithwaite Fold car parks (both paying). Acceptable level of traffic until 8pm and then virtually silent until 6am. We stayed in November - probably much busier Mar-Oct. Access to bins and WC close by, good internet and a short walk to the lake and the town.

  • 5/5

good free parking for any size home roadside (but quiet with only occasional car from 7pm onwards) there is a car park £12.50 all night for motorhomes which is more secluded but roadside is fine. no time limitations out of peak period signed ad good Friday- 31st October which is max 2hrs no return. anytime outside of this stay as long as you want.

  • 4/5

Stayed here on a Saturday night, bit of noise from people heading home from the bars at the bottom of the road. Other than that was great for an overnight stay.

  • 3/5

Honestly this spot is fine, especially in an area where it’s hard to find free spots, but nothing special compared to others in the lakes. Timings on how long you can stay is slightly confusing, but I was undisturbed from 5pm to 11am. People walked by until late at night.

  • 5/5

    Great for visiting the city

  • 4/5

People from services are strictly checking parking time so do not sleep too long! Noisy before midnight, in the night ok. Quite a popular spot. For free toilet go to the ferry parking

  • 4/5

this spot is a little further up opposite the golf course and graveyard. does get busy we came after 8pm which seems about right as everyone was leaving. we drove around twice to get a spot thou we are 6.2 meters anything bigger would struggle a bit. busy with dog walkers and the odd stragglers from the pub but was quite after 11pm. you have to be gone by 11am.

Update Aug 25: This is now our favourite spot! Stay a lot no issues. To clear up for anyone confused. Do NOT stay in the carpark just after the entrance to Glebe Road that is Pay and Display!!!! This pin is for the bay parking *ON* GLEBE ROAD! Which is Free 5pm - 11am so you can have a nice long sleep in! and 2hrs max from 9am - 7pm all from Good Friday till the 31st of October.

Good park up, can be a bit noisy as young boy racing. Toilet up the road £0.60 but there’s a free toilet about 200 yards towards the Ferry Nab Parking.

  • 5/5

Great little park up. Gets very busy near the shops & bars so park near the cemetery. I parked between 6/7 other vans. No hassle from anyone. It was a Saturday night so few boy racers hanging about and there’s a bar further down so few stragglers walking past so not a perfect sleep but good enough. It’s free to park at night, no restrictions, but the toilets are now 60p, card only no cash.

  • 5/5

Park from 5pm to 11am for free. 2 hours free stay between 9am and 7pm. Road quiet after 10/11pm, little street noise with people walking back from bars ect. Saves £10 parking here than the big car park around the corner that charges £10 for 24 hours but additional £10 if overnighting

  • 1/5

There seems to be some confusion about the parking restrictions here. I can clear it up. I have a parking ticket to prove it. I asked the traffic warden about the meaning of the signs, he said there was only a 2 hr max stay during the dates stated on the sign. Oct 31st. Happily I wondered off for an ice cream! Came back to a £50 ticket for overstaying!

  • 5/5

Stayed a night, really quiet, loads of other vans here too so felt very safe. There’s a big car park down the road that has toilets too (60p you can pay on card). Ideal!

  • 4/5

Stayed one night, right next to the cemetery so very quiet!!! Only one other motorhome on the stretch I was on. Parking signed say 9am-7pm 2hrs no return - so was not troubled outside these hours

  • 3/5

Great little spot if you want to be close to Windermere. Very noisy boy racers, but they stopped about midnight, noisy people in the morning but not too early. Toilets are now 60p.

  • 5/5

Stayed for 2 days. Perfect. Very peaceful and easy access to the beach and local pubs. Bar down the road does half price pizzas 5-7pm (not on Fri, Sat or Sun).

  • 5/5

Stayed last night, no problems easy access to shops and bars etc

  • 5/5

Fantastic free park up, easy 10 mins walk into centre of Bowness which has lots of shops pubs and restaurants, lovely quiet night apart from storm Darrah and yes Mr road sweeper did make an appearance about 0630 but went straight by. Few other vans dotted about ..Let’s keep this one leave no TRACE.

Stayed 2 nights. Great location for exploring Bowness & Windermere. Coop in town. Lots of restaurants/pubs/cafes/shops. Bins available. Popular even off season. Quiet night. Great walk to Brant Fell.

  • 5/5

Great quick spot for the night. 50p toilets up the road and very quiet. A few campers were parked up and cleared in the morning.

  • 5/5

Great spot for a night - only a few boy racers in dead of night - handy for bars and shops - near lake -

  • 5/5

Great park up, on the level, right next to cemetary and a few minutes walk from the lakeside. Water tap just outside the 50p toilets just within the pay for parking at the end of the free parking bay. We refilled our tank with a few 2 min walks with water containers.

  • 5/5

Perfect free parking location overnight, many campers left by 11am. It’s free after 5pm and 2 hours till 11:00am in morning. Toilets short walk by water 50p next to gift shop. Boat rentals are great prices- must do! Signal was great. Pathway btwn golf and cemetery is very dark at night. No lights. Very crowded in morning. Parked nearest paid lot to stay longer! Great location! 6m van fit parallel

  • 5/5

Free parking lots or bays. Parking sign 2 hrs free with 2 hours no return 9am until 5pm from Good Friday until 31st October. Free parking 5pm until 9am or use your 2 hours until 11am. Restrooms 50p to use or free with a Radar Key. Close to shops restaurants and tea room. Easy access to boat hire and local walks. No road noise except the random road swiper decided to come by at 5.30am close to all the vans and even along the pavement. Once he passed very quiet until 8.30 when the dog walker was passing. Definitely will be returning in the winter months as parking will be free with no limitations.

You can stay all along Glebe Road for *free* from Good Friday till the 31st of October. Not in the car parks off Glebe Road but all the bays along it. From 9am - 7pm you can only stay for 2 hours max but between 5pm & 11am you can stay for as long or as little as you like. 10 min walk down to the waters edge and 5 min walk to the shops, cafes and bars on Glebe Road. We had a great night's sleep.
