Perfect winter stopover as all hard surface. Popular with motorhomes. Close to town, castle, Morrisons. Quaint town with friendly pubs and cafes. fish n chip shop. Close to Alnwick castle which was magnificent. Bin at the entrance.

Great place to overnight. Hard standing but likely to need levellers as only a handful of spaces are flat. 5 mins walk into town centre with a variety of shops and places to eat and pubs. No streetlights in car park so take a torch. Quiet overnight. Stayed several times and always felt safe and slept well.
Turned up here before dark. It didn't feel right. There is used fire pits and circles in the gravel like vehicles doing donuts. So we didn't stay. Went somewhere else. Maybe its ok but I didn't feel like staying.

7.2m so plenty room. Perfect place to park uneven in a few places but plenty of options not overlooked by houses and FREE. A minutes walk into the town, Castle, Gardens expensive but it is what it is the Poison Garden Tour was superb. Had a fabulous meal at The Treetop Restaurant picked up a load of dog treats from the local Pet Shop and did a wee shop at the Superstore. Thank you Alnwick.
A few level spots, but you can choose a better spot after the castle shuts and the carpark empties. Public toilets in town near the Market Place 10 minutes walk away. I couldn't see a sign with opening times. They were open at 8:45 17/10/25

another lovely weekend spent at Alnwick. only 5 minute walk to the Castle which is magnificent and such a lovely town aswell . Nice quiet couple nights . two bins . huge carpark FREE Definitely a must we will be back next year when the weather is warmer

We stayed last night, peace perfect peace. Loads of spaces and a easy walk into a charming ancient town. And right in the town a fabulous castle that was featured in the Harry Potter films Lots of shops, pubs and places to eat. Saturday has a small market in the square. Bins, and good phone and TV signal.

Sitio muy tranquilo y encantador. Cuidado con el Google Maps q os mete por un túnel de muralla de 2,8m de altura, desviaros delante del túnel a la izquierda y así os redirige. Las plazas de abajo del todo más niveladas. Sin servicios, pero si ese día no necesitas ni vaciar ni llevar agua . 100% recomendable

Grand parking proche du centre ville d'Alnwick et d'un supermarché avec un grand espace pour promener les chiens. Nous y avons passé une nuit et nous nous y sommes sentis en sécurité. Il y avait également du réseau. Nous le recommandons.
Perfect place to park up and explore Alnwick or the castle. Lots of room, large gravel car park. Other vans were there when we visited, pretty good considering it’s free! We decided not to stay overnight due to reports of boy racers, didn’t fancy being subjected to flying gravel! The abandoned caravan didn’t help!
Great spot! A lot of vans and motorhomes. We arrived around 1700 and then there were only 5. Later in the evening around 15. Big parking lot on a slope so bring levelers. Quiet. 5 min walk from the supermarket and 8 min from Alnwick Castle. Litter bins around too. Would go again!
Great location, few minute walk into town. Really quiet night, plenty of vans on a Saturday night so felt safe. Slightly on a slope in places but can’t complain for free day/night parking with no signs or restrictions
Good car park with great views, very quiet and litter bin. Lots of dog walking area but locals do not seem to bag their dog waste.... disappointing. We bagged and disposed of our doggy do correctly!

Super um die Stadt zu besichtigen. Schotter und viele schattige Plätze. Blieben nicht über Nacht. Hinweis : sehr teurer Eintritt fürs Schloss, von außen sieht man nur 1 Mauer, Hunde nicht erlaubt. Sind schnell wieder weitergefahren.

Super Stellplatz. Komplett umsonst. Direkt in der Stadt mit relativ geraden Flächen. Ruhig in der Nacht. Wir haben uns sehr sicher hier gefühlt. Würden definitiv wieder hierher kommen!

Dafür, dass das ein kostenloser Stellplatz ist, ist er super - ruhig, perfekt gelegen, um Schloss und Garten zu erreichen. Könnte ebener sein, aber das ist Jammern auf hohem Niveau.

Ottimo parcheggio, è permessa anche una lunga permanenza, ed è gratuito. Non è molto in piano, ma non è un problema grande. Ottimo punto di partenza per visitare la città e il magnifico castello.
Good long stay free car park to spend day or night, just on outskirts of town. Alnwick is a lovely little town to visit. Fairly level and spacious. Would recommend. Rubbish bins only.

spent 2 nights here - what a wonderful spot. very close to the town center, literally 5 mins walk from the car park. There were approximately 12 other motorhomes/ vans per night which makes it feel extremely safe. There are no services, however there is a small bin near the entrance - so please use the bin as this is such a wonderful spot, would hate to have it reduced to day only parking.

Great spot stayed 1 night arrived late still loads of space some bits uneven but still great. good field behind to walk dogs. Nice and quiet near town centre the odd car or van moving about at night but not overly noisy.
Super das es so etwas noch gibt. Tolle Stellplätze ganz nah bei der Stadt und dem Castle. Und dann noch komplett Gebührenfrei. Das hat uns sehr gefreut. Es gibt in dieser Umgebung weitere Stellplätze ohne Service und es wird ein gutes Entgelt verlangt.
This is a great place to stop. We stayed here during the Story Festival. Very quiet and close to town. There's some great cycling to be had in the area, especially down along the coast. I'm told the council is considering making this an official aire.
We stayed here last week. We were unsure at first because there seemed to be people sleeping in cars, but they left. The police came by to welfare check on a tent (empty) and spoke to us- they were fine us being there and said they’d not had any reports of trouble. It is owned by the Duchy and although not officially an overnight stop, it is OK. Barter Books dog friendly. Castle closed ATM.

Stayed here 5/2/25, had no problems. It had snowed and there was evidence of people doing donuts in the car park. We had a quiet night, it’s a great thing that Alnwick has done, because it is a lovely town. A short walk in to town and good reception on 3 mobile. No other facilities other than a couple of bins.
Convenient place to stop. as others have suggested the place seems to be used by youths in the evening. We had a couple of cars turn up between midnight and 3am on Thursday 2nd Jan with young lads. They weren't a nuisance to us, other than a bit of noise, and there were three other campers so we felt somewhat safe. There was also a fair bit of litter, and a sex toy in the bush at the edge.
Stayed here 28/12 and great spot for visiting town and castle although castle is closed till Spring. Several other vans there so probably very busy in summer
Easy to find and just on the edge of the town. Locals sometimes hangout there but all in all nice and quiet. Short walk into Alnwick. Would be good parking to visit the castle. Sadly not open when we visited.
great location for the town and the castle. Ten minute walk to the bars and restaurants. There were seven other units when we arrived at 6.30 on Friday night. Very quiet.
The closest your camper will fit into town visiting the castle! Stayed overnight. Level ground, good signal, not bothered. VERY dark drive into huge lot. Trash bins. Toilets 10 min walk into town, close at night. Morrison open late. Beautiful trail walk behind lot for dogs. Felt very safe all night- quiet. Castle is 10 min walk into town. Lovely stay, will come again!

Great place for a stop over to see the castle (7 minutes walk) and town. Supermarket 7 minutes walk (no toilets) public toilets 8 minutes walk - locked at night. A bit sloped but some fairly flat areas. Had a quiet night here there were several other units here too. Staying here as the car park for the day. Rubbish bins at entrance emptied every morning by the look of it.

hats off to alnwick council, quiet spot, it's basically an aire without water or toilet dump. council collect the rubbish (2 bins).slightly off level but sorted with mini ramps.in a country that seems to want to ban motorhomers from overnight, here we have a forward thinking council. superb for us doing 2 days visiting the castle, cafes and bookshops
Großer Platz für viele Fahrzeuge. Leider hat der ganze Platz eine leichte Schräglage. Wir haben dennoch gut geschlafen.

Fine for when you need easy access to a town and its amenities. Alnwick is really nice but this lot has a lot of trash and gets really busy with tourists during the day. We’ve been coming here to work during the day because of 5G and access to public toilets.
Für einen Parkplatz absolut in Ordnung. Hatte 2 sehr ruhige Nächte hier. Der Platz ist an vielen Stellen schräg, aber da es sich hier um einen Parkplatz und keinen Stellplatz handelt, tut das der Sache keinen Abbruch. Immerhin ist der Parkplatz kostenlos! Mülleimer sind vorhanden und das Schloss sowie Stadt sind in weniger als 10 Min zu Fuß erreichbar.
Perfekt für eine Nacht, Stellflächen zum Teil schräg, auch mit dem Hund Möglichkeiten zu laufen, fussläufig zur City, ruhig, Müllbehälter
Free and no restrictions. A bit of a slope but not too bad. Lots of other overnighters. A quick walk to pubs, restraunts and shops. Nice views out back. Alnwick is a decent market town with a decent selection of places to drink and eat.

A large area of rough ground, brilliant for the dogs. A boy racer drove in a few times throwing dust and stones while doing donuts. We put a stop to that by putting some big boulders on the gravel, they gave up. Quiet night, with nine vans in total.
Perfect spot for visiting Alnwick - very close to Alnwick Town centre and castle. Area of waste ground (believe it was a school that's been knocked down and area flattened). Nice and quiet, tucked away spot but usually a few vans for some company which makes you feel safer. Very quiet - only woken by the rain!

this car park is used by the locals to do burn outs and do donuts in during the day and night so if you don't want your vehicle bombarded with large stones i would avoid this car park.

Der Parkplatz ist ~100m vom Harry Potter Schloss entfernt, wir hatten uns am Tag davor ein Ticket geholt, welches ein Jahr Eintritt gewährt und haben den nächsten Tag noch dort verbracht, perfekt für groß und klein.

Excellent park up, close to town which has pubs, cafes and free toilets (really clean). Lots of space to park for big motor homes/vans, 10 last night and still lots of space. The ground is slapping in places but very manageable. There is a field up the slops to the left of the park up ideal for the dog.

Stayed overnight in the motorhome. Large car park with easy access. Fairly flat, but would go towards top right hand corner on entering if staying again. Couple of other vans turned up overnight. Easy walk into town for food and drink. Be mindful when entering and leaving the town as it has low archways to navigate.

Stayed here for the 2nd time last Thursday night on our way up to Scotland. It was very quiet,(compared to last August, about 8 campers then), only us there, along with a couple of parked cars. We were a but sceptical, but no issues and still free. Close to town, Castle, and Morrisons. no facilities.
Stayed for two nights. It was okay. Some cars came in the evening and drove away later. Some of them were noisy for few minutes. Much litter in the area. Good for a visit of the town center.
The old post for this park up seems to have been removed but we stayed here a year ago and late one night we had some guy circling the camper trying to look through the windows but he quickly left when he saw my husband. We weren’t the only ones to report something like this on the original post so be aware!
