Private land that has been sold for housing. later in the evening it gets a bit rough and moved on, ok as a day park up.

LennyTheDucato13/09/2025Nice little car park on the banks of the River Wear. There is a residential block of flats at the entrance so not totally isolated. It's used by people to launch boats or walk along the beach. It's not flat and has some pot holes but we found a nice level spot. By day people sit in their cars and watch the boats, in the evening there are a number of cars coming and going but quiet at night.

Riverside parkup. No facilities. Slightly sloping. Hardstanding. Litter bin. Excellent view. Peaceful overnight. Easy walk to nearby pubs/restaurants and beaches. 30 mins walk to city centre.
katechic14/07/2025Lovely park up, we enjoyed our stay and the Marina Vista restaurant does a fantastic Sunday carvery. The problem we found was that when we tried to leave, our vehicle threw out some error codes, and after some inspection, we found that rats had chewed through some wiring underneath during our stay. We spotted them running across the rocks on the river shore. please be careful if you plan to stay

Great spot. Quiet with good views across the harbour. 2/4/25 .. A joy to find such a good parking space . no facilities but a gift for free

Stayed overnight here a few times with no problems. Quiet after about 10.30pm. Beware of the potholes at the carpark entrance. No toilets.
