Brilliant little park up, very popular.

we parked up to about 30 other motorhomes and vans, weekdays empty maybe 3 or 4 others.

side of the road but goes to a dead end, great set off place for MAM TOR or speedwell caverns.

free and no trouble, cars coming past from about 6am but relatively quiet

Genialer kleiner Park, sehr beliebt.

Stayed here on a Saturday night, very busy. Lots of campers around, eventually got parked up after 5pm when the daytime tourists were leaving. Bring leveling blocks, as the road inclines further on up the road. Amazing views on both sides of road. Traffic noise from campers leaving early in the morning.

Parked here last night, arrived late and ended up driving down the winnats pass to get there, wonderful spot it is on the road side but loads of vans are there and the road is relatively quiet. Would definitely recommend a stop over here and I would definitely be staying here again if I’m ever in the area. I went from here and visited the village at the bottom of the hill with pubs and food.

A brilliant free park up close to Castleton and Mam Tor. I stayed Monday-Wednesday and there was lots of space, a fair few vans parked along the road but spaced out. Very peaceful at night and stunning views.

  • 5/5

Brilliant place to stay. lots of spaces but it was very busy when we arrived leveling blocks would be handy as it's up hill but we turned the van around and it was fine peaceful, no traffic we will be back

  • 5/5

Stayed here weekend on November 1st in our 7mtr motorhome, no issues and quiet through the night, Climbed Mam Tor and Back Tor, spent some time in the village with drinks and meals. Only negative thing I experienced was it was disappointing to see some rubbish bags left at the side of the road further up the road near Treak Cliff Cavern.

  • 4/5

Very busy here on Saturday night. There must have been 100 vans, nose to tail, for a mile heading out of town. That means it's very safe and friendly, and there were pubs in town serving good food.

  • 4/5

A lovely spot to stay for the night, lots of space. Our van was slightly too wide to fit within the lines but didn't seem an issue. There are clean public toilets roughly a 15 minute walk into the town at the visitor centre car park. They open at 8am and close at 5pm. The road is on a slight incline so ramps are needed.

  • 4/5

So busy when we arrived but all other campers were friendly and we had a laugh, beautiful sunrise over the valley to wake up too. We always stop here to break a journey up north.

  • 1/5

Campers are emptying contents of their toilet on the grass. Human waste where people walk.

  • 5/5

beautiful place to stop overnight, lots of vans there on a Monday night in August... no mither or noise

  • 5/5

One of my favourite places as great walks nearby and a few pubs. Stayed here multiple times. My fav spot is just past the turn off for Mam Tor on the left, so the sliding door opens up on the grass - which my dog loves as just sits outside in the sun and no one walks past as no pavement. Lovely field also with lots of sheep!

  • 5/5

Great spot for roadside stay, beautiful views, surrounded by choice of great walks/hikes and caverns & caves to visit, short walk to selection of pubs.

  • 5/5

Idyllic! Quiet. About 12 other vans room for loads more. No facilities.

  • 5/5

Here this weekend, arrived yesterday great spot lovely views, close to town a a

  • 4/5

Great place without any service. Nice hiking trails, toilet in the pretty little village, closes at 5 pm. Pieceful at night.

  • 5/5

Fantastic spot, Friday night and plenty of spaces for campervan. Great views of the valley and ideal for the caverns and Mam Tor.

  • 5/5

An amazing stop, good view, people and a short walk to Castleton. What's not to like.

  • 5/5

Had an overnight stay loved it here will be coming back fantastic views had a squirrel coming right up to us friendly. The only complaint I have is others leaving rubbish around I picked up all the rubbish where we was parked to keep it tidy.

  • 3/5

Very busy spot which is fine there’s plenty of space. Amazing views and great location for walking and into Castleton for food/drinks. However considering it’s a dead end road SO many vehicles passing in the night some so fast the van was shaking. Recommend parking further up the road. Although not very flat.

  • 1/5

Lovely spot, but sad to see many vans with chairs and tables over the footway. We witnessed a couple get up in a local's face when asked to move their chairs. We also found what appeared to be human faeces on the side of the road that had been shoddily hidden under a rock. We won't be coming back to this spot because we don't want to be lumped in with those who lack the leave no trace ethic.

  • 3/5

Stopped one night midweek was quite busy some campers had chairs our on grass verge and some rubbish around on road getting too popular and a little spoiled due to that but still a. great spot if you want to pop into Castleton in the evening for a meal or drink in one of the many pubs , decent EE phone signal

  • 5/5

Amazing spot, spent two nights here.

  • 5/5

Stayed here 2 nights over the weekend. Saturday was very busy , but Sunday was a lot quieter. Very peaceful nights had. And Castleton is amazing!

  • 3/5

Over 50 vans here last night with spaces still available. Most pitches on a slope. Fabulous location for walking and village facilities. Downside is cars whizzing past all through the night to a dead end and then back again - maybe a Saturday night thing?

  • 3/5

We were lucky to find a space on the weekend as the road was packed with vans and motor homes. Being in a pop-top we hear everything, including the people walking back from the pub speaking loudly late at night and all the many vehicles driving right past the van at 30mph. Very patchy sleep but I imagine the place is perfect mid-week in the off-season. The pros are the beautiful views and the location - you can walk to Mam Tor or Winnats Pass from here.

  • 1/5

Bumper to bumper for a mile. Campers sat all day in there vans with there doors open. This is what causes issues with locals

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

We arrived around 12am not too many other campers. Was quiet over night with some traffic around 7am. Nice little spot

  • 5/5

Quiet and safe place to stop the night good phone signal and plenty of space

  • 5/5

Very nice parking quite and safe

  • 5/5

Great stop for a few nights. Absolutely stunning scenery, great location to walk up Mam Tor (which we did). Road was quiet after about 8pm, surprising quiet overnight until about 8am. Would definitely stay again, can get busy but lots of space along the road.

  • 5/5

Lots of spaces along the road, lovely view of the hills and sunrise. Sheep in the fields nearby can be a bit loud but nothing major, cars driving past can be quite loud tho.

  • 5/5

Great park up. Lots of space to park along the side of the road in the marked bays and a quick walk into the village for pubs and toilets.

  • 5/5

Perfect not windy and as wet as higher ground car parks, also perfect 5g signal

  • 5/5

Top spot and handy to do some walks such as the Great Ridge & Mam Tor

  • 5/5

Stayed here for one night as a first time trail in our talbot. Fantastic views all round. Great walks and scenery. Plenty of spaces, even on a bank holiday.

  • 5/5

Thank you Castleton. This is a lovely place to park up day and night, you’re right in the middle of great views and walks. Toilets in the village open until 6pm.

  • 5/5

came late at night, was worried about spaces, but no need. the spot is very popular but absolutely loads of space. Great views across the valley. Nice and quiet, although there is a steady stream of walkers and cyclists. a good stop off.

  • 5/5

Lovely spot, plenty of room and close to shops and pubs in the beautiful village of Castleton

  • 5/5

Great park up! Quiet on the Thursday when I parked up but by the weekend very busy with campers and motorhomes. Good vibe though. Perfect for hikes and bikes and a short walk into Castleton. Look after this place folks…it’s a gem!

  • 5/5

Amazing views from this park up. Free of charge. Short walk to Winnats Pass. Close to village with multiple pubs and public toilets (8-5)

  • 5/5

Great place to stop for free.. close to town and local pubs. Busy with cars during the day but these go and leave loads of places to park for the night. No problems or worries as there are lots of camper vans and motor homes around. Will use this area again..!!

  • 5/5

Fantastic park up. Castleton is a clever village. There are so many vans parked up and people are making the short walk to spend their money in the local shops and pubs.

  • 5/5

Great location, plenty of other campers on the same road, there is plenty space. Great walks close by and plenty places to eat and drink in castleton

  • 5/5

Parked here for the weekend, along with 40-50 other vans. Great spot for walking the peaks and easy walk into Castleton for food and drinks. Very quiet at night amazing views to wake up to. Speadwell caverns also worth a visit.

  • 5/5

Great location, amazing views! So many other van lifers so feels very safe. Road is quiet and night.

  • 4/5

As others have said. Great location. It offers perfect location for walks and a walk in to Castleton for food and drink. Traffic can be heard after 6am if you sleep light. Terrific morning views.

  • 5/5
