We found a rough gravel parking area with incredible views of the coast located on Porlock Common. It was surprisingly quiet; we were the only campers. A beautiful place to stop. Be careful, take your rubbish with you; there is plenty there.

Plek met prachtig uitzicht Wij komen vanaf Porloc. Hellings percentage is 25% in scherpe haarspeldbochten.

Great spot. Back from the road so your van is not seen. Fantastic views. Quite level.

  • 4/5

Regarding over night parking. Not advised. Better to go to a register campsite. There are good ones in the area. Drive towards Exford and follow the campsite sign. Very quiet site and plenty of room.

  • 5/5

But bump and not level in places but my goodness, what a view! Would not stay here in any form of bad weather and certainly consider how windy it can get. There are several options to stop along this road and there was quite a few vans dotted around, with about 8 of us at this particular stop.

Great little stopover. Shrouded in fog, a bit nippy but slept really well. Only me here, EE two bars, it is what it is, a gravel car park, it's free and central to the A39. Happy days!!

DON'T PARK HERE IF THERE'S A WEATHER WARNING. Lovely spot... not in the middle of the winter though. If its too windy then you'll know about it

  • 5/5

there are 2 park up spots here, we chose the higher one. entrance to both a little bumpy but firm gravel. the parking spots have a bit of a camber, the lower carpark is better. we arrived at 21:00 Road quiet a couple of vehicles entered the carpark but left straight away... absolutely stunning location.

5 out of 5 only because the app doesn't allow 10 out of 5. Spectacular!

Sehr schöner Spot. Mit Blick aufs Meer. Windig hier oben (Oktober) sind ganz alleine hier. Hier ist alles so schön sauber. Bitte nehmt eueren Dreck mit. LTE 3 Striche

nice parkup great view busy if its sunny out, the hill from Porlock tho.. yeah it's steep as and I was in 1st most of the way in my old lwb sprinter, but once up wow, if you are lucky there is a tea coffee and ice cream van in the lower carpark!

Initially looking for the other two described spots because of the remark about litter. Passing by the actual without realising this being thus spot i noticed the great location. The other two spot along the road proved to be a bit disappointing we drove back to it Great place gor lots of rigs, and no litter to he found at all nice spacious place with great views on the meadows, sheep and sea

  • 5/5

Loads of pullins the two biggest get very busy in summer it seems had about 10 in one of them and 6 in the other

  • 5/5

This spot was absolutely magic. Gorgeous sunset and sunrise and beautiful views all around. Mostly flat and away from the main road, it does catch the wind but nothing to worry about. My neighbours and I were even joined by wild ponies in the morning!! Can't wait to come back. Note: Porlock Hill is EXTREMELY steep. There is a toll to avoid the hill - would recommend looking into this.

Super uitzicht, ultieme vrije spot.

  • 3/5

lovely views but very busy day stop as its just off A39. Also entrance is very rough and lots of potholes. parking mainly steady slope. Next spot which is 50m down the hill is more level with better surface.

  • 5/5

Quiet, lots of space and stunning scenery. Quite a steep road up to it from the east but easily conquered.

  • 5/5

Wonderful place to stay, lots of room in this car park and in the one just further down the road (we chose this one as it was slightly more sheltered from the wind). Two other vans staying, no other noise or disturbance and good to see that there was no litter there

Great find whilst driving through exmoor. lovely views and whilst a bit windy, one of the best park ups I have come across. no facilities and PLEASE treat the land respectfully.

  • 5/5

Great views, no sound off the A39, definitely worth a visit.

  • 5/5

Fantastic views, no traffic noise, no litter, just perfect! Take care on entry as there is a whopper of a pot hole.

  • 5/5

Very quiet, Breathtaking Views , Exmoor ponies free roaming around . Remember to take your rubbish with you to keep the area clean . No toilets

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Lovely secluded spot with great views of the Moor, over the sea and towards Wales. Heads up: no facilities whatsoever.

  • 5/5

    Nice stop great views

  • 5/5

lovely views. Busy in the day.

  • 5/5

  • 3/5

Stunning view, but be very careful if travelling from east. We took the A39 here and the road took us up a monumentally steep hill. I was in 1st for about 5 minutes and could smell my clutch burning out. Not a rip for the feint heart if trqvelling from east (not sure about west)

  • 5/5

Amazing place to stop. There are two gravel car parking areas about 300 metres apart. The lower one is a bit flatter and less exposed.

  • 5/5

This postcode sent me up a terrifying narrow steep path which was very clearly private….. I had to make a hasty reverse retreat!!? Make sure you use grid reference- it’s the A39, NOT the toll road
