Still a quite spot to over night. the usual litter scattered around. In fact, we picked a bag full and disposed of it as we left.

Great spot to spend a night. I was on my own with my 2 dogs and felt very safe. Few cars passing through in the evening but otherwise very quiet. There is the odd train in the day but I didn’t hear any overnight. The pub was permanently closed in Feb 25 so no noise there. A few public footpaths from the site which go along the canal or through the fields. 1 small bin.
Great spot. There was me and one other van. Occasional trains passing on the other side of that little field, so maybe not ideal if you’re a light sleeper. Loads of room and set well back from the main road.
Noisy, hardly slept at all.
Good overnight stop basically a wide lay-by good level tarmac no facilities at all very quite during night another 2 vans when we were here
Great place to stopover we use this regularly and never had a problem. Very quiet at night and the autocaravan has now been removed and it’s all clean and tidy again!
Long term caravan has gone. Phone signal v good on 3. The road can be heard, but distant, substantially less used as the evening wears on.
Had high hopes for this layby as previous comments were so good, but when we arrived at 5pm we heard screaming/arguments from the only other vehicle in the layby (a semi-permanent caravan) and decided to move on. We're new to layby overnighting and didn't want any trouble.
Great views. Well set back from main road. Nearby pub for those that like a pub. No phone signal for me on Lebara/Vodafone.
Very quiet at night, lovely little walk along the canal near the pub. No noise from the pub either. Will defo come back
2nd time we've used this stop which looks out over the fields with a walk over the tracks no problems good night's sleep no toilets pub not far
A great place to stay for a overnight stop over with a nice view of the countryside. I would advise not to drive onto the grass verge because it is over grown and there is a hidden ditch on the side of the road next to the farmers field, so beware.
I have stopped here a few times on my own and with other campers, Not a busy layby there is a bit of litter around and one bin towards the pub, quiet at night sometimes get cars pulling in late at night doing drugs but they leave you alone, there is a nice walk down the canal, I always make a coffee and walk down it early morning.
Stayed overnight Boxing Day before moving to a site, felt uneasy at first but was a really quiet night, pub wasn’t open but fridge was stocked, would use again as a stopover if out this way again
Stopped over for a few hours in the early hours to break up a long drive. Clean and quiet, can just about hear the road nearby. Feels safe
Stayed 14/08/23 for one night. Arrived about 2pm there were a few cars came and went throughout the day and was only us by 9pm. Lovely walk into Retford via the canal. You can hear noise from train and road but was acceptable. You can see the pub from the layby it's closed on Monday and Tuesday and they hold car nights so can imagine it can be busy on those days. Would definitely stay again.
Stayed overnight 17/7/23, only us here. Reasonably flat no facilities other than a bin. Pub shut last night. Arrived at 8.30pm road quiet after 10pm and only a couple of cars overnight. Traffic started again about 6.30am. Felt safe. Nice walks along the nearby canal. Would stop again.
Lovely place to stop overnight. Traffic stops at about 8pm with just the occasional vehicle after that, restarts at about 6am with works traffic. Close to a railway too but again limited traffic. Wide area to park in suitable for larger units too.
Nice location near a canal and walking paths and has lots of space without crowding - 5 campers on Saturday night. Very quiet. Good phone signal.
Short walk away from a pub and a nice walk on the Chesterfield canal.
stayed here for 2 nights. Handy for Clumber Park and the surrounding area which we were visiting. Both nights there was a couple of other camper vans. Was aware of the cars on the nearby road. Not enough to disturb us, both slept well. Train line also nearby. Aware of it but not enough to disturb us. Lovely pub nearby but alas not enough time to frquent it. Would definitely Park up here again.
First time stoping over in the van, felt totally safe! There was a lorry and another van already parked up when I arrived. Quiet through the night and even up to 9am the following morning. Well recommend
Quite night and pub nearby..... what's not to like !....... oh yes, a bit of litter about.
Bypassed road now a big layby set away from the traffic. No lorries because of low bridges on the main road. Regular spot for overnighters. No bother. Retford town has lots of car parks (free on Sunday) and is well worth a visit.
stayed here as a lone camper last night, felt very safe. Close to Hop Pole Pub and a house, so not isolated. Canal just over the road and footpaths for walking dogs, 10 mins stroll into town. A little traffic noise this morning and a few trains. pretty quiet overall and slept very well. One other campervan overnight and another this morning. Lots of room, open field views, I would def use again.

Stayed here twice. Both overnight. Never had any problems. Good 4G signal. A few cars in and out of the lay-by at night, but quiet from 10pm onward.
This would be ok for a motorhome of any size. the hop pole pub is adjacent. so is the scenic chesterfield canal. Retford with all its amenities just a short walk away.
Very quiet night, no issues, would recommend. supermarket about a mile away
