Spent the evening here on 2nd Feb. Great spot with lots of space, great views, walked over to the Island to see the Norwegian monastery remains. It was very windy, so I pointed the back of the Motorhome into the wind and that worked great. Good EE signal allowing us to stream to the smart TV using a hot-spot. Dog loved the walks on the beach and Island. woukd stay here again.

  • 5/5

Lovely! Nice view, walk, level ground and lots of space. Don't miss the walk to the island!

  • 5/5

Great stop for the night. All the other comments have summed it up well. Very safe and yes exposed to the wind but that is all the part of the adventure

  • 5/5

Excellent stop with amazing view. Quite exposed but where isn't on Orkney. No services but plenty of fresh air. Car park gets very busy at low tide as people visit to cross the causeway but quietens down when the causeway is covered. 4 vans including us last night. Toilets and a great shop in the village - 5 mins walk.

  • 5/5

lovely quiet place shop and toilets in village stayed for the night to see northern lights wasn't disappointed

  • 4/5

Very far, quiet, suggestive place where to park day and night. Amazing view and possibility of do the hike on the front little island. If it’s bad weather, it become the worst place where to sleep due very strong wind with rain -> very noisy. Check the weather :)

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

One of the best spots on the island. It can be quiet, just two vans last night. Beware comments that the causeway is walkable 2 hours either side of low tide, was being covered within the hour. The last ones back had serious knee deep paddling.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

A fabulous stop for the night. Quiet, except for the sea birds and the waves.

  • 5/5

Great spot but very busy in the day and when arriving on the evening there were already five vans staying overnight. Don’t think overnight parking will be allowed for much longer at this location which is very busy in season and one of the top tourist locations on the island to visit.

  • 5/5

Great spot and mostly level. Very exposed so when it's windy you really feel it but lovely views whichever way you park. We were the only ones here but it is March. Nice walk across the causeway but make sure you check the tide times as you would have no chance getting back if you miss it and would have to spend the night on the island looking at your lovely warm van :)

  • 5/5

A lovely spot for a night; just want to warn people to be aware of the incoming tide! We arrived as the tide was creeping up the Causeway with about 5/6 people still on the Brough of Birsay, all bar 2 of which made it back ok with wet feet. The other 2 had to call out the Coastguard. 3 Coastguard cars/10 volunteers waited with us for the rescue boat. All ended well -luckily it was a calm dry day.

  • 5/5

Stunning location. Exposed to the wind which was rough when I stayed but still a great place. Gets busy with visitors until late and they are back first thing, so park accordingly.

  • 5/5

Super ParkPlatz und Aussichtspunkt. Keine Services, nur schön. Bei Wanderung zur Insel die Gezeiten beachten. Bei einsetzender Flut wird der Weg unpassierbar! Super Naturerlebnis bei Sonnenuntergang mit Silhouette des Leuchtturmes.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

A lovely peaceful spot with lots of nice walking. Amazing to go over to the island and see all the puffins! There were quite a few campers when we were there, but two very quiet nights. Perfect.

  • 5/5

Simply magical place for the night. We picked good weather for it. Wildlife abounds, saw a couple of seals resting in the bay. The historical remains on the island are great to see. A few other campers about, but quiet night had.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

A great place to stay the night. It can get very busy when the tide is out because people walk across the causeway to get to the other island. Check the tide times and get here when the tide is in. There are no bins here but there is a village shop just down the road. Great coastal walks.

  • 4/5

Stayed for one night and walked over to the island the next day where we lucky to see a puffin up close. A very windy night, but it would have been windy everywhere!

  • 5/5

We didn’t stop here but found another pull-up just past ‘Earl’s Place’ with space for 6 or so vans. Toilet just past Earl’s Place towards the village. Great walk across the causeway for a circular on Birsay where we spotted puffins - amazing!

  • 5/5

Prachtige locatie, klein minpuntje: bijna geen internetbereik.

  • 5/5

A fantastic place to stay for those who like off grid and don’t mind a full on hoolie! The scenery is stunning with plenty of space for dogs. There are walks across to the Brough of Birsay, when the tide is low! And the Skiba Geo path that takes you off round the headland. We were joined by another 4 motorhomes who braved the storm…a great night.

  • 5/5

  • 4/5

Great spot, a very wild and windy night. 8 vans parked the night we did, with no bother. Busy during the day when the weather is good and the island is accessible. As previously mentioned though, it's very exposed and we were rocking through the night when the wind picked up...haha!

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Stayed overnight at end of Jul. Superb spot with amazing views. Walked to the island at low tide. Quite a few (5 or so) other overnighters, but plenty of space for all. Public toilets a couple of minutes drive down the road.

  • 5/5

stayed over night on the 9.7.23 very peaceful great views saw puffins on the island , did a litter pick to keep the locals happy there is a bin near the toilets down the road

  • 5/5

    Perfekter Platz mit sensationeller Aussicht.

  • 4/5

Stayed for a rest stop. Lovely views but very exposed when windy. Busy with cars during the daytime.

  • 3/5

Amazing views, not all areas are flat, toilets 3 min drive away, no bin. It is very exposed here so check the weather, Birsay is beautiful though!

  • 1/5

Too busy here left when 5th van arrived and parked blocking 4 spaces. Thankfully there are many places in Orkney not on this app still which remain quiet!

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Great spot, yes it's exposed but you can sit in the van and watch the waves crash around you. Had a storm on the night I stopped (19 Oct), but if you park facing the wind it's not too bad. Good coastal walks, toilet and shop in the village.

  • 2/5

Incredibly windy and exposed. Tarmac parking but on all sides it’s exposed and overnight stops wouldn’t be worth it the day we visited(so check weather first!) we didn’t stop in the end, busy with tourists, and the wind/rain was relentless. Visited 20.09.21

  • 5/5

Just us and three other campervans here for the night. A good selection of seals to observe plus in-built entertainment watching some tourists wading waist-deep to safety across the rapidly submerging causeway. Worth checking the tide timetables….. An exposed site on top of a promontory so it could get blowy. But it’s calm tonight and all’s well. Midges are having a night off too….

  • 4/5

big influx of car drivers, so less room for campers but off peak(after 5pm) more room.

  • 5/5

Large parking area with wonderful views and lots of wildlife around. We stayed here for one peaceful night alongside another camper.

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

Beautiful spot. Amazing scenery and coastal walks. Small rock wind breaks with fire pits to have bbq.

  • 4/5

Very nice though parking spaces were few during the day, come the evening we were the only ones there. A little bit windy but ok over night (September 2017)

  • 5/5
