ok for a stopover, plenty bars, restaurants 5 minutes walk away. toilets and coffee bar during daytime. Nice view of river Tyne.

  • 3/5

Very popular location, only space for two more vans when I turned up at six in the morning of the last Saturday in October. Someone was letting off fireworks on the beach. It is a working port so expect noise but it is also very close to the water which has its attraction.

  • 4/5

A nice little stop over, felt safe as a female alone. Plenty of other vans around. I did find it a little noisy up to about 11pm with what sounded like trucks and cars. Tynemouth is a lovely little place for a look around.

We first came here last summer and attempted again this evening to stay a weekend but absolutely no spots at all If there are no spots now during the week don't waste your time on a weekend. It looks very much like a traveller site now as there are static caravans and a few folk hanging around draped in gold so we wont return again.

  • 1/5

Campers are now dumping their urine etc on the grass verge by the road side, not pleasant. Locals do not want campers to park here anymore due to this.

  • 4/5

This is free roadside parking on the outskirts of a large city, at a working dock. If you want no noise then best stay in a campsite. We stayed here Friday and Saturday night on a bank holiday weekend so we could go to an event in North Shields. We had no problem with noise after about 10/11 at night, the road wasn’t too busy with traffic and everyone was friendly enough. We would stay here again.

  • 5/5

Great spot. Seven other vans here. Lively place around the corner with eateries and bars. Watching the boats in and out of the Tyne.

  • 1/5

Very loud spot! Trucks and forklifts going past at all hours. As the name suggests, it is a fishing quay, so the smell of fish is constantly in the air. After a night here everything in my van stunk of the smell of fish. Toilets are available but not 24hr and not very clean. lots of drunk people on a night and people setting fireworks off on the beach, with some seemingly aimed at the vans.

  • 1/5

it seems the travellers have started parking down there I'd give it a miss not a great experience and shame as its a nice location but ended up leaving at 11.30pm and travelling around trying to find somewhere else to park

  • 4/5

We was in a small motorhome Great spot and free parking, toilets available but not sure what time until. Nice places to eat and drink plus lovely walks Only downside was inconsiderate dog owners letting their dogs bark at all hours (one left outside) would stay again though.

  • 1/5

if by some miracle you manage to get parked here on a weekend be prepared for van doors banging until all hours, dogs barking and people shouting and talking loud as drunk in or outside of their vans. Lovely place with great local amenities but absolutely NOT a peaceful overnight park up at all on a weekend. Genuine and honest review from our experience

Hebben hier twee goede nachten doorgebracht. Is erg rustig.

  • 5/5

Nice place with a beautiful view. Mostly quiet. Public toilet open during the day.

  • 4/5

Tolles Plätzchen. War leider schon sehr voll. ACHTUNG!

  • 5/5

Perfect stop for the night before we caught the ferry to Amsterdam. Enjoyed tea at the Ships Cat, nice and peaceful and fab views. Definitely recommend

  • 5/5

Beautiful place next to the water I stayed Sunday to Monday no payment whatsoever Friendly and nice people around here public toilets open to 4pm a pub open to 23:00 so toilets are there if needed

  • 1/5

Stayed here one night Monday/Tuesday and it was loud from working forklift and truck, midnight till early morning. In evening time some "low level people" wondering about with alcohol being noisy and wake up in the morning to find some rubbish around our van pretending to be ours. Sorry to ruin good reviews but this is what we experienced.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Nice place by the ocean, between two grassy plots. Quiet at night. Three other motor homes parked around us but there was plenty of space. Nice to have the public restrooms nearby for daytime use. We didn’t see any garbage by the roadside! :-)

  • 5/5

    nice wild life. beautiful place.

  • 5/5

Spannender Platz.

  • 5/5

Surprisingly marvellous! Beautiful walk around the harbour, little cafe selling ice-cream and coffee. Bins and access to a water tap. Oh, and Internet. A few cars/vehicles drive by in the evening, and you will have other vans for company. Well worth a night stop

  • 5/5

Arrived in the small hours after a mix up with a diversion due to the A1 being closed. very quiet spot when I pulled up with a handful of other motorhomes present. Woken up early by fishing boats leaving but this didn't bother me at all. Nice to watch the boats come and go early in the morning. Would stay here again

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

A good place to stay clean and tidy also a toilet block close by. Tynemouth Metro station is about a 10 min walk away, we stayed two nights 1st night (Saturday) a little noise from the surrounding pubs and motorbikes came late evening, 2nd night (Sunday) very peaceful. Called into the fishmonger for fresh fish and fishcakes on the Monday morning as we left for home. All in all a good visit.

  • 4/5

Would give this 4.5* if we could. Lovely view, very quiet at night. Not too far from bars and public toilets.

  • 3/5

Unlike the other car parks close by there is no sign that states that camping is prohibited (and locals said nobody would care). But when I arrived there were many campers / motorhomes (not necessarily parked smartly) and there was a lot of rubbish. It was quite busy due to the surrounding bars and I cannot imagine that it’s a quiet place at night. Not my place …

  • 5/5

Brilliant to have such an attractive and hassle-free spot in this area. Space for quite a few vans - always reassuring to have a couple of van neighbours. Enjoyed my view over the estuary too.

  • 5/5

Stayed Sat Night with no problems at all. We could hear music coming over the water from South Shields, but didn't bother us. There were a lot more vans there than I thought there would be. We would happily stay there again. Great spot.

  • 5/5

  • 2/5

Stayed here last year and so enjoyed it. This year we came back but unfortunately some youths tried to steal our bikes at 20:30hrs. We were not in the home but fortunately some other motorhomers scared them off. BEWARE THIEVES NOW OPERATING HERE.

  • 5/5

    Lovely spot. Peaceful night sleep.

  • 5/5

Our favourite spot right next to the beach, plenty of pubs/bars places to eat within walking distance & 10 minute walk to the town centre, highly recommend

  • 5/5

Stayed here 23 08 2021 and several earlier days. Loved this spot. Very quiet, fantastic views, fresh smoked kippers for breakfast and easy walk into town but a few steps so beware. Would be ideal for Metro visit to Newcastle etc

  • 5/5

2 excellent nights slightly further down the key, facing the water on Bell Street. NOT car park, but road side. Just enough length for our 5.5m. Free 6pm till 9am, then a further 2 hours for £1.20. A bit further from the toilets.

  • 5/5

Amazing place by the sea. no restrictions. fish lorries come and go but no issue. watch the boats come and go in the harbour. even cruise ships coming in looks incredible. public toilet block in the day, drinking water tap outside all time. bins on prom. amazing.

  • 4/5

Good for an overnight stop. Nicely next to the beach with a good pub nearby. Factory was slightly loud but nothing we couldn’t deal with.

  • 2/5

Worst park up ever. Noisy all night. Never again. I think people were lying when they’ve said it was quiet on here

  • 4/5

Still a handy overnight. Good, flat but try and park away from the factory and the fridges going all night. Great chippy.

  • 5/5

Stayed here for two nights, spot on place, beach hundred yards, great fish and chips, and watching ships going in and out, would defiantly go again.

  • 5/5

A flat roadside parking area right on the riverside. Just me and one other van. Road is also used for lorry trailer parking by the fish processor. Parking was steady all evening with dog walkers and kayakers, but was quiet after dark. There was a slight hum all night from the nearby fish processor, and their forklifts start deliveries past this area early, so if you’re a light sleeper or want to sleep late, you might want to rethink. All and all a great spot. Would stay again.

  • 5/5

Excellent spot - thanks to whoever added it as it seems free/overnight parking is hard to come by around here! We spent one quiet, undisturbed night here on the bank holiday weekend. Beach opposite. Interesting to watch the big ships coming into the Tyne. Found a few bars, chip shops in the streets behind, but it’s only a 15 min or so walk into Tynemouth centre. We were treated to the sight of dolphins from the end of the pier!

  • 5/5

Nice spot right by the sea. Quite a few campers stay here too, it’s just a stretch of road - once I went and had no problems getting a spot and then another day I went and the full road was and couldn’t park. But if you can get a spot (you usually can) it’s a lovely place, no bother by council or anything like that and a short walk into tynemouth. Lots of food places nearby as well

  • 5/5

Great quiet spot. Recommended to us by a man from the council after someone reported us for parking up in our motorhome during lockdown. Have stayed here nearly every night during lockdown so far without any bother. Beach right outside so ideal for dogs too.
