Nice polite staff said it was fine to stay if we ate at the pub. There are 2 gravel pitches on the right of the car park. You can hear some road noise, but only a hum from the nearby dual carriageway, we had a peaceful night. The staff said we could come back in and use the toilet before the pub closed. If you don't want to stay at the pub, there is loads of parking on the road which is a dead end.

stayed on Friday night, realy good food and friendly staff. parked in the main car park just at the side of the pub. relatively quiet night considering how close to the M1 it is. would use again if in the area.

  • 5/5

We stayed here last night for free, had a fantastic Steak and Ale pie, the staff were very friendly, kids play area outside, two minutes off the M1, couldn't be any better, if we're in the area again we will definitely stop, even if it's just for a meal,

Excellent stop off. Homemade pies. If you like pies this is the place for you. Good gravy. Very good beer selection. And very good value for money. I hope to return as this is first pub that I have said that about on park for night.

excellent for 1 night, happy for you to stay as long as you have food etc, 2 spaces big enough for large motorhome. staff lovely and friendly, dogs welcome and the pies were excellent

A very quiet night spent at the Malt Shovel park up , although we arrived late on Sunday to try out the Sunday lunch we had a few pints in the pub next to the warm gas fire . After making a donation for a charity , because we hadn't eaten , we stayed for a very relaxing night in the pub car park with another camper , having a good night's sleep

Even if you ring in advance to book one of the two motorhome places you can’t guarantee it will be there when you arrive. Ours wasn’t it had cars parked in it when we arrived so we left and wont be returning. The area for motorhomes is not exclusive and if they’re busy they won’t stop cars parking on there even if you’ve rung to “reserve” a spot. We’ve been before so we were just lucky those times

Stayed here for three nights. Extremely friendly bar staff and you can stay for free if you eat there. What more can you ask for?

We stayed here last night in our Motorhome. It was our first visit and we found out about them through P4N. Rang ahead as only 2 spots for motorhomes. Staff were lovely. Had food in the Pub and consequently stay was free (thank you). Food was amazing. Kids rated it a 9/10 because it took a while to come but worth the wait. No hook up. Kids play area. Could do more gravel on ground as very muddy.

Fantastic pub, very welcoming and the food is excellent. I highly recommend this pub. The staff are very friendly and it’s great value for money. Also the ground is very level for parking.

This place is amazing. The staff are so lovely and the food is incredible. We have staid several nights trying the home made pies and roast meats. They serve vegetarian and gluten free too. The portion sizes are massive! Well recommend.

Great little stop, very welcoming even though I just turned up last minute. buy some food or drink and you can stay for £10 a night. The food was very good.

  • 5/5

Really friendly. I was late for food so they asked to put a few quid in the charity jar instead. Definitely recommended and the beers aren’t bad either!

On arrival I met a confused old man who went to ask about arrangements for overnight parking. After a bit of consultation he asked me for £10. I was tired so I gave him the money to park on the "scrub car park" It's the first time I've used park 4night so I'm a bit put off, especially since there are no facilities. Never mind, I'll try again and see if I can find some good places.

Staying here tonight, popped in for food which is very good, quality, portion size and price!! Great little stop over for a night or few. I turned up about 4pm and was very welcoming to let me stay. Highly recommended

I have been staying in this pubs car park one night per month for the past 4 months. As a single female I was a little apprehensive but everything was fine. I felt safe in my van. The landlady advised me they lived in the pub and would be there if I needed them. Food was lovely. Massive portions. They specialise in a variety of pies. So nice. Did not notice any road noise at all.

The pub is nice, food was really good with generous portions. There is a fair bit of road noise as others have mentioned but not terrible.

Stayed overnight en route to Bernard Castle. I phoned in advance to check. Such a friendly welcome. Food was excellent, real home cooked. There was a bit of noise from the nearby main road but more a steady hum that was not distracting. And opposite is a field and a decent dog walk. Couldn’t have had anything better for a night stop as a solo traveller.

What a great place to spend a night. excellent food with real ales and dog friendly worth a visit just to taste the food. Nice and busy with a great atmosphere landlady Steph is a fantastic host. Only problem is the main road going past which kept us awake most of the night.

As soon as we entered the car park a really lovely friendly lady met us and said we were welcome to stay if we ate in the pub. The food and drink was amazing and very good value, 3 mains, 1 dessert, 6 drinks £59. Very quiet restful safe night (maybe that was the beer). Staff were very chatty, friendly, helpful. Parking was flat, free WiFi, limited to a few vans I think. Worth it for amazing food.

Stopped over last minute. Called ahead and they were really helpful. Good beer and undisturbed night.

Stayed overnight on our way to Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Very friendly people, Food o.k. Not as noisy as expected. Asked for a donation for a nearby organization to refill watertanks.

We stopped here on the way home after reading the review’s. They were correct, this pub is the friendliest pub Iv been to and we’re 100% happy with us staying the night in our camper van. Fantastic quality food as well.

  • 5/5

We Rang ahead and they were very friendly, you can put £10 in the charity box for the air ambulance or have a meal. We took our dog in the bar area for an evening meal . The place we parked was flat and we had a very peaceful night sleep. Access to the M1 was easy for our onwards journey.

Stayed here on the July 4th. Nice and quiet. We phoned ahead and was able to hold a late food order (Sunday dinner), which was epic. Very friendly, and very helpful. Totally would visit again,
