Small layby on quiet road between Thorpness and Aldeburgh right on the shingle beach, about 15 minute walk to each. No restrictions, signs or facilities. Room for about 3 vehicles when parking nose or tail in. We are 6 metres long just fit, a bigger van would stick out into the road. Lovely and quiet but exposed if its windy as so close to the sea.

Lovely park up road noise 0530-2130 but silent out of these hours. We was the only camper last night lots of dog walkers from 8am onwards full 4g on O2 and Three

  • 5/5

Great park up nice and quiet and a lovely view

  • 4/5

Stayed here for one night back in early November. One other van, big enough to fit my 6m. If you're looking at the bay, the left hand side can fit longer vehicles but not my longer. The right side has a bank which caps you out. fortunately for me I just clear it with my bumper. Spot does get busy by the morning though, lots of people park here to dog walk.

Great spot , easy to walk into town and fairly quiet! Quite windy though x

  • 5/5

parked here for the night with our son loverly location a little road noise nothing to bad small spot but if you can park there I would recommend it perfect for sunrise views

  • 5/5

great place to stay, quiet road, no signs, very close to the sea and 15 min walk to Aldeburgh, enough room for 5 cars max. peaceful night!

  • 3/5

Very nice. The road is quite a, “Rat-run”, in the evenings, but quiet through the night. We slept until 07:15 when it started to get a little busy again. Friendly locals, dog-walkers in the evening, and joggers in the morning. Just two vans overnight.

  • 4/5

Spent the night here twice on different occasions - alone one night, sharing with one other camper the other time. Lovely place, fall asleep to the sound of sea on shingle. Occasional traffic on the road, but I slept soundly all the same.

  • 4/5

Been trying to stay here for a few times now but always been full of campers. Was able to get an end spot with one other camper the other side and was lovely. But later on another camper came and pulled up in the middle. People really need to leave room for the local dog walkers and not fill it with campers. One camper has been here for three days and the one who pulled up I believe is a regular.

Great for dog walkers, ramblers etc, a nature reserve straight across the road or the beach is easily accessible on this side of the road! Busy popular spot, lots of people coming and going. Spent the afternoon parked up here, lovely walk jnto aldburgh and through the nature reserve. No litter, can hear lots of skylarks around, won’t be sleeping here though, fast cars going past regularly!

Nachts wars ruhig.

  • 5/5

Beautiful little location right on a pebble beach. Lots of dog walkers in the morning and evening but very quiet and nice location, wasn’t disturbed at all, good night sleep.

  • 5/5

Great quiet spot, had it to ourselves. The best fish and chips in aldeburgh only 20 minute walk away, plenty of space for lwb transit. Bit exposed if windy but then you can enjoy nice open views.

  • 5/5

Nice parking spot with good views along a quiet road. Direct access to the beach and easy enough to find a level spot

  • 3/5

Great spot! Quiet at night once the passing cars have stopped. I would advise however that no more than 3 campervans park at a time. It is a small spot & popular with local dog walkers. One lady commented on the fact that campers aren't popular with the locals as they take up all the room (when parked lengthways & when too many).

  • 5/5

Quiet and peaceful, and close enough to the sea to hear the sound of the waves at night. Not even crowded today (in August), just two other campervans, and some cars coming and going.

  • 4/5

Small parking right off the road, lots of cars with dog walkers during the day. Road is not very busy, got quiet after 9 pm and traffic started around 6 am. Tight fit for our 6 m van, anything larger would be a problem.

  • 4/5

Cracking spot. Thought I’d give a more recent update - can confirm it’s still a sign free area. Lovely open space behind toward the sea. Nothing here, just you and nature - enjoy

  • 5/5

We stayed here, we are 7.3 metre long, there is a gap in the middle big enough to back into so off the road. Ideal for walking to Aldeburgh.

  • 5/5

Overnighted here in early Sept this year (22). Lovely spot, stayed once before a few years ago. under 6.6m vans only. Occasional speeding car in the middle of the night.

  • 5/5

managed to get in although in early September it's still popular. Very open and exposed. Try and get your side door down wind! Good phone signal on both Smarty (3) and O2 aswell. Beautiful scenary and a lovely Suffolk shingle beach.

  • 4/5

Busy with dog walkers in the day, few cars past at night and early morning. Nice loaction with access straight onto the beach. We are 6.5M and just managed to fit by reversing in and overhanging the bank at the back.

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

A very lovely spot. Only some dogwalkers in the evening and morning that didn’t mind us. We can highly recommend this car park (only 4-5 spots though)

  • 4/5

Stayed for 1 night on Sunday 5th June. Wet & dull day so only 1 other van. Very quiet, no disturbances. Not much of a view.

  • 4/5

Nice quiet layby, walk out of van onto beach, hardly heard any cars during the night, would stop again.

  • 5/5

Just had a night here no problem at all . 6m campervan fitted easily. Was the only van overnight, few dog walkers in evening. A good free spot.

  • 5/5

Good place for sleeping, calme and nice. We could hear the waves of the beach from the camper.

  • 5/5

Quite small, but good enough only small vans will fit (traffic, Vw campers) about 5 in total. Loverly views of beach and very close to sea if you want to fish.

  • 4/5

Stayed in our MWB Peugeot Boxer for one night and had a great time! Very convenient place to walk to both Aldburgh and Thorpeness. Pretty quiet late at night and very peaceful. Shared a spot with 4 other vans so felt quite safe. Only downside was no bin other than a dog poo one and also dog walkers can turn up quite early in the morning. Great place to park and stay.

  • 5/5

Great place. Very little night time traffic. No signs to say no stopping overnight. Beautiful sunrise to wake to in the morning with the sound of the sea.

  • 5/5

A great overnight spot with beautiful views of nature! I parked on my own in a layby just 30 seconds up the road and had a really beautiful and peaceful night. There are public toilets a 20 minute walk away during the day. Sea was great for swimming in too - would come here again

  • 5/5

Fabulous overnight. Quiet, peaceful, lovely views, not much passing traffic. Right on the beach (shingle not sand).

  • 4/5

Stayed here last night, it is quite windy as it’s quite flat and open but a van bigger than mine arrived and sheltered me a bit ! Really quiet, I arrived a bit early at about 7pm, not traffics after around 9. Just 3 of us parked up. Lovely in the morning. Would definitely come here again.

  • 5/5

Nice layby with space for 5-6 vehicles. Close to the beach and quiet at night. No signs regarding overnight parking.

  • 5/5

Nice spot, we spent one night here.. very peaceful

  • 4/5

We stayed here for a night last year. Great spot, few cars passing throughout the night but not an issue

  • 4/5

Great spot, the only downside is it's very exposed if you don't have a toilet!

  • 5/5

Lovely spot . quiet at night 10 pm - 7am. Superb location for walking into aldeburgh. Park tight to other cars/ vans as busy with early morning dog walkers , who get grumpy if they can’t park . The beach is 50 metres away the sound of the waves is magic .

  • 4/5

Great spot. Short walk to the sea and quietish road.

  • 4/5

Also spent a night here and it’s exactly as described above. Very nicely situated and nice walk to pretty Aldeburgh town.
