Carrigaholt Beach and Pier, free parking in a few different locations near the beach and on the pier. There is a height restriction barrier however it is not in use, we confirmed this with a local fisherman. The only amenity is a water tap on the pier. It's a tidal pier with a few boats, at low tide it's muddy. We saw local kids swimming when the tide was in. Nice wee village with post office, dolphin watch office, pub with wee grocery shop, takeaway and gift shop.

The 'no overnight parking' signs can be ignored - campervans are welcome to park overnight on the quay, in the village square or at the castle carpark nearby. The height restriction barrier on the quay is not in use. We spent a quiet night on the square, which is flat and next to the pubs and cafe. Friendly locals in all pubs. A lovely little place to stop, highly recommended.

The old community parking area seems to be gone. There's a sign now saying "No Overnight Parking." There were about four other vans when we arrived, so we stayed the night. No issues, all quiet. That said, I wouldn’t count on it. If I had more time to plan, would pick somewhere else. Nice spot though!

Parked on the pier and asked on the local pub. They were very friendly. Nice coffee shops, stopping point for loop head cycle routes. Make sure you take a walk to visit the castle - the car park is large by the castle but sloping and not such a lovely view

We stayed on the quay after looking at the other spot on park4nite ( lovely but bit sloping). Fab Guinness at pub. Lovely nights sleep only the sound of the water lapping on the quay. Several families parked and camped ! On the grassed areas. Would stay here again - thanks to the town for a lovely welcome

What a lovely place. Free aire with request to spend at least €10 in local shops or pubs. This is run by the local community and is something that should be copied everywhere. No services but very peaceful and safe. We had a great time in local pubs.

Wunderbarer Ort.

Open Friday to Tuesday, €10 donations welcome to be left in local restaurants/bars. Nice spot. Lovely and clean. No services. Would recommend to everyone

Great spot, friendly welcoming town. Site reasonably level great views of the bay, 2 min walk to town, 25 minutes to old castle ruins. Highlight was the hospitality from Morrisseys Pub, which is located just along West Street from the corner. We had a great stay here and would stay again.

Great place to stay, please try the excellent Long Dock restaurant it is superb. We filled our water tank from the tap on the quay and found the water was a nasty colour, so please check before filling your water tank, as we had to empty and clean and refill.

Great location, green field not open yet but wide pier and room 3 or 4 vehicles without getting in the way of the fisherman. Very atmospheric location at sunset. Nice village with a couple of pubs. Thanks to community for allowing stop overs. Stayed 2 nights to visit castle etc.

It is such a treat to come across a sign that says “Campers you are welcome “ from the village elders. A lovely spot on the edge of the village at the entrance to the pier. Water available Visit the village amenities especially the seafood restaurant which was absolutely superb.

Spent two nights here last weekend. Beautiful spot. Six or seven campervans parked up. Peaceful nights sleep. Special mention to Michelle and Lorainne in Morrisseys pub. Brilliant hosts. Couldn't have been nicer.

Great location and perfect if travelling with kids, as access straight onto a pebble and sand beach. no facilities as such, but a safe space and 5 mins from the village where there are loads of food and drink options.
