great for an overnight before catching ferry. good views. can be a little noisy as wagons waiting and arriving from the ferry also use it. but i would definitely use it again. nice walk up the coast through the campsite towards the ferry terminal or back towards Stranraer.

Arrived at 10pm after our ferry. There was two Lorrys and another car camper. All was good until 1.30am and the lorry next to us started beeping his horn, slamming his doors, came and shone his torch into our car. We stayed but totally unnecessary from him as we was sleeping and nobody had blocked him in etc

Great for catching the ferry stayed in between lorry will use again

Grand spot, parked beside a couple of lorries, you will hear the road but not that much traffic.

Perfect parkup for the night before the ferry, other than when ferry’s dock the road is extremely quiet and we had a very peaceful night.

lovely views. As a woman on her own I felt quite safe, there were 2 lorrys and 3 other vans there. took me 10 minutes to get to the stena line port at 7am noise from the road but using earplugs dulled it

I was a bit dubious about staying here on my own, but it was completely fine for the night before getting the 7.30am ferry to Ireland. Level ground, very quiet other than the odd dog walker - all of who were very friendly. One other camper with us all night. Good signal on Three/SMARTY.

Nice simple stop. Flat, off road. Overlooks the bay, nice views / sunset. Right by entrance of Caravan park, but no issues / objections. One bin on-site, no other services. 10 minute walk down beach or path to other layby which has small takeaway cafe. Stayed with 3-4 vans and 2 trucks.

Lovely stop. Stayed 2 nights. Just wanted to rest up and this place was perfect. Bin on site, no other facilities. Absolutely beautiful views across the bay.

Beautiful spot great views across the lock peaceful night stopped with 2 other motor homes

Nice spot overlooking the bay. Some road noise but did not bother us. One other van there.

Great little overnight stop. No facilities. Clean and tidy parking area, although large pot holes on entry.

Great spot, yes a bit windy but not too much road noise probably as it's April. Dog walkers from the caravan park only passersby and there's a handy snack bar at the next nearest park up.

handy for the ferry but very noisy and if its windy expect to be blown about. its free and convenient but I think I'd stay elsewhere next time

Road noise does not stop as such as Lorries and vans come and go and the road is fast next to you. Expect HGV with fridges running and night heaters. But for free and a view so trade off is ok. Can get busy 7pm onwards with every man and his dog arriving to catch the ferry or whatever they get up to.

Ideal location for our ferry, can be quite busy with vans and lorries early evening but road and area extremely quiet once settled overnight. Plenty of hard standing and another large rest area just along the road.

Arrived at night for early morning ferry. Great location and stunning views across the water. The wind did pick up at times. Flat park up suitable for a few vehicles situated across from caravan park entrance. Just enough off the main road for traffic noise.

Best choice round here outside the port car park. Got there late, couple of truckers, it’s big enough for about 5/6 vehicles though, it’s about 10 m from the road but relatively quiet until the morning ferry rush 5.30ish. The birds in the bay squawk it up every now and then but great spot if you’re arriving late and leaving early like we were. Wind was ferocious all night in land. 23/09/20

Large parking area just outside the entrance to an expensive campsite. We stayed after we arrived at Cairnryan ferryport at 22:30. There were four lorries already parked up when we arrived, but they all left very early and we didn't notice them. The area is literally right next to the shoreline, so was quite windy, but fantastic views. Footpath at end for walking the dog.
