(YO23 1ET) York - 76 Knavesmire Crescent

We stayed here for one night (Tuesday) and it was everything fine, quiet night (a few cars driving late night but it soon stopped) , definitely recommend and it has a great view of the racing field in the morning.

This has the advantage of being free, safe and close enough if you are visiting/staying overnight in York. Need to get here early or late as spaces fill up between 8.30am - 5.00pm. The disadvantage is constant traffic until late at night and, again, from early in the morning. Location and cost versus comfort, your choice.

A very busy place to stay with a running club holding its weekend meeting next to us. Hundreds of dog walkers, not all clearing up after themselves and a very busy road, passing traffic some at very high speed until well after midnight. Loads of other vans and cars parked on both sides of the road which ment vehicles were passing very close! One minor clip of our wing mirror but no damage.

Arrived at 11.00am, busy with cars but managed to find a spot on the road. Several other campers parked up. Noisy during day but felt safe. The council are considering stopping parking across large sections of the City so this may come to an end in the future. Details on the public notice portal and open for consultation till 21/11/25. We added our views as regular visitors to the area.

Roadside parking close to the racecourse. The road is busy during the day but gets a bit quieter at night. Lots of open green space and popular with dog walkers. We watched hot air balloons taking off in the morning.

Free parking on the side of the road by the racecourse. A bit of noise from passing cars but at night it’s not a busy road. About a 20 min walk into the City where you can walk around the city walls. Great for a night and a visit to the city. No facilities except a few bins.

Nice and quiet after about 930, traffic dies down and starts around 7.30 am. Very safe, nice views and good for dog walking.

Great road, right on race course and easy for parkrun visitors. Bright street lights so would suggest blinds but quiet and plenty of parking. Check local restrictions for days when races on

Schön gelegen, genügend Platz. Ja ok, in die Stadt läuft man eine Weile, aber absolut in Ordnung. Haben nicht übernachtet, aber tagsüber alles ok.

Paramos duas noites, uma rua grande, com um grande gramado, onde vários motorhomes param colocam cadeiras do lado de fora para apreciar o por do sol. Nao descuidem de segurança, presenciamos uma dupla de rapazes na redondeza de casas chutando a porta de uma casa abandonada. Então, todo cuidado e pouco.

comodo per visitare la città. una passeggiata si circa 20 minuti. la notte e stata tranquilla, anche se le macchine la sera passano veloci. posto carino accanto ad un bel parco. nessuno ci ha dato noia

wij stonden hier 20 augustus met de paardenraces met onze camper. Er stonden meerdere campers en ook de stewards vonden het oke dat er overnacht werd. snacht werden wij wakker van het schudden van de camper er bleek dat er 4 jongens bezig waren onze fietsen te stelen, gelukkig niet gelukt, maar o ze nachtrust was voorbij. Deze plek raden wij dus niet aan

Wir hatten eine gute Verbindung in die Stadt mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln, tagsüber sehr viel befahren, nachts etwas ruhiger. Aber wer nicht viel erwartet und nur für eine Nacht dort schlafen möchte, für den ist es geeignet.

We had a good night’s sleep. It really is next to the road and not very quiet. Someone was around our van at night. Our neighbor sent him away.

perfect spot to visit York by feet, free and felt very safe, beautiful the hippodrome nearby:)

Tökéletes egy estére megaludni, a gyönyörű belváros 30 perc gyalog, így be tudsz sétálni, enni egy vacsorát és inni egy sört mellé. Éjszaka nagyon ritkán 1-1 autó megy el az úton, reggel mikor ébredezik a város akkor kezd el nagyobb lenni a forgalom, de nekünk pihentető éjszakánk volt. Semmilyen tábla nem tiltja az éjszakai parkolást.

Très très passante, bruyante et les gens circulent vite. Seul intérêt le fait que ça soit gratuit.

Awesome. Good for any size van/motorhome met and made some van friends. Walk into York was about 20/30mins but loved walking past nice houses and sights ( if you don’t want to walk get the number 4 bus £1.50 one way.) The road is busy but after 12am quiets down. We sleep like logs anyway! Just make sure not to park race days as they close the road! Phone Signal and wifi was strong ! Perfection

I stayed here for 2 nights. Quiet at night, in the morning a bit more traffic. It felt safe and a good place to stay.

Really good free place to park, 30 mins walk from centre. Road is a little busy in the morning. Right next to the horse track lots of open green space. Note you cannot park here when horse racing is on.

Um ótimo lugar gratuito para dormir e passar o dia. O ponto negativo é que não tem serviço, nem mesmo opção de banheiro público por perto e é bem movimentado durante o dia. À noite fica tranquilo. Para quem tem autonomia de recursos como água e banheiro no motorhome, é um ótimo lugar para visitar a cidade, o centro fica a 30 minutos de caminhada.

super endroit gratuit le long de l'hippodrome et à 20 minutes à pied du centre ville très vivant . Magnifique cathédrale, ville très jolie et très agréable.

Stumbled across this spot. Pub, bakery and butchers 3 min walk. Co-op 10 mins. Handy for walking the dogs. Saw hot air balloon’s taking off in the morning, beautiful sunset and sunrise. Cars do go past quite often but that didnt bother us. Safe place to park and other campers about.

Não existem placas dizendo ser proibido passar a noite. O local é proibido durante dias de corrida. A última foto mostra o calendário de 2024. Não é indicado para quem não gosta de barulho. O trânsito só diminui por volta das 22h. Ao amanhecer é o local de partida de voos de balão, o que pode ser um atrativo, mas também faz barulho. Inclusive a polícia parou pela manhã para assistir.

loads of space. about 6 other vans parked up. small pub 500 yards away. 2 others within 5 mins. 30 mins walk to York City centre. highly recommend. lovely views over race course.

Lots of space but didn't get much sleep as there was too much traffic. Walking distance from the centre, free onroad parking.

This street park in a busy well lit area it's ideal for visiting York. It's about 40 min walk and felt safe enough. As mentioned, please be aware of restrictions due to large events in the area.

There’s many race days planned in.. check the calendar before going to park here, there are towing signs in place for race days at York track.

Buen sitio al lado de un parque enorme ideal para perros pero que por los comentarios no se puede pernoctar.

I parked here just for the day. 100% Recommended! It was a little busy but we found a good space and the van was untouched when we returned. We parked there for ~6hrs while we did some exploring. It’s a good long walk into York city centre, but we didn’t mind that. This location is also easy for getting out of the city and not running into the queues of traffic heading into the city.

to See the town it is perfekt. With a bike it's need 10 minutes.

Nice. Surrounded by parks. We went in a perpendicular street of the one presented here. It was less busy. 10min from the centre by bike.

nice place to park up during the day . it's free but it's a busy road. still got the fields on either side . good Green King pub just up the crescent. plus local bakers,butchers greengrocer.late shop.hair and beauty Chinese takeaway and working man's club all with a few mins walk perfect .

Parked for the day, walked into York City Centre (20 mins), then stayed for the night. Absolutely no problems. Great 4G signal. Traffic quiets down from around 10pm to 7am.

Please be aware that the council intend to stop overnighting vans this year

Great place to stop. Arrived around 16.00 in the afternoon and racing had not long finished so plenty of places to stop. Busy with people and dog walkers but a great view to wake up to on a Sunday morning. Even though on a road only minimal road noise and 4 other campers parked down the road. Long road so can take it without being too busy. Great location. ????

Stayed here and was perfect for a short walk into York centre...Had a good night out too. Be careful though ...you can park the night before the races but have to move by 6.00am...other than race days theres no restrictions so check the race days before parking ...

Parked here in the morning. Short walking to the center and we stayed through the night. Very good place, a little noisy and some times in the night cars passed by on hight speeds causing some shaking in the van. Beside that, very nice place to stay with a great view

Stayed for one night in October. Was quiet enough, being that it's so central, and it was a Saturday night. Great location if you have a dog, as the Race course is perfect for evening and morning walks. No signs to say you can't park. Assuming people who received notice from council (see earlier comment) had been parked up long term.

Nous nous sommes garés juste à côté de cette rue pour la nuit et pour visiter le centre de York le lendemain. Super endroit, peu de bruit (on était à l'extrémité de la rue) et en plus de ça gratuit!

Parked here last night and took a walk into the city today. When we returned we had a letter from the council stuck to our tire. You aren't allowed to camp here, we now cannot return and even park here for three months.

Gratuit et à 20 minutes du centre ville. Nuit tranquille, mais, tôt le matin, circulation importante. Les véhicules roulent vite et nous frôlent en permanence.

Calle al lado del campo de carreras de caballos de la ciudad con bastante sitio para aparcar. A unos 25 minutos andando del centro. A veces molestan los coches q pasan al lado, pero por lo demás esta bien

Ruidoso. Los coches van muy rápido y demasiado cerca de las autocaravanas/coches aparcadas. en la calle perpendicular hay un par de sitios más tranquilos

Spent this weekend in York, overnighted here. No problems, a little noisy due to traffic but decent spot

Great place to stay to visit york. Traffic starts about 7.30 in the morning.

Free parking can be found on both sides of knavesmare road. Very close to the city centre (20min to 30min walk) and a great place to park for the day or overnight. Though, it's quite noisy at night. Traffic doesn't stop untill after midnight and starts up again around 6am, though we stayed on a Friday. There are cafes (which have bathrooms) and shops within 1km of the north end of the street.

Between the racecourse and a playing field (so good for dog walking), free roadside parking for as long as you like. Fairly quiet at night save for the odd car. Traffic gets busy from 6.30/7am so noisy in the morning as this is where people working in York city park for free. no problem for large campers either
