great free spot to spend the night in the heart of the lake district. Flat, plenty of room, and although on a main road, we've enjoyed a quiet night here on several occasions

Great spot to spend the night, lots of space and a fairly quiet sleep, wake up in the morning to beautiful mountains and some sheep over the fence

Good large lay-by, lifesaver when cut off by the roads starting to flood due to the storm, sheltered by a wall on one side with trees and set back from the road on the other so no spray, amazing views (when the clouds cleared!) even if not for the night save yourself the extortionate fees in the Center and enjoy the walk in

No restrictions for parking, spacious in the evenings but busy by morning due to day walkers parking there too. Great views of mountains and sheep, definitely use again if i’m back in that area.

Het is gratis. Redelijk recht. Na een bepaalde tijd weinig verkeer. Uitzicht op de bergen en aan de andere kant lopen schapen. Prima plek.

Amazing, free spot in a place determined to charge ridiculous money for putting your vehicle literally any where. The lay-by is large, we arrived about 7pm on a Monday to lots of free space. Good phone signal on EE but none on O2, was quiet enough over night (except for some loser who drove past really early beeping their horn at everyone and good connections to all the surrounding beauty spots.

Good free spot. Does get busy but there’s lots of space either side of the lay-by. Road is fairly busy/noisy

Good night loads of walks around here with views to die for. The only thing is it gets very busy during the day so its get there early like 7am or late in the evening. Village has plenty of places to eat and have a drink. Its not like ambleside a bit more relaxed.

Very peaceful sleep in my van - pulled in because I was so tired and crashed out for a few hours. I didn't even check for no-parking signs if truth be told. There were a few larger vans parked up when I pulled in - they were gone in the morning, and replaced with lots of cars (presumably day-walkers).

There is no restriction sign for overnighting. Plenty of vans arrive after the walkers have left for the day. Short walk to Grasmere for supplies. More noise from the sheep than vehicles. EE and Voda signals OK.

Arrived today, sign states no overnight parking enforcement in place. Went to motorhome aire in ambleside instead.

Great overnight stopover pub just up the road will let you stay overnight if you buy a meal. this lay-by can get busy with cars during the day. or you can use car park in village suitable for large motorhomes but no overnight stay.

Only parked during day. Plenty of spaces and vehicles parking both sides of the lay-by. Lovely walk to Grasmere village via public footpath across the road and along the river walkway.

No restrictions in place (the no-overnight parking sign has been removed). Road gets quiet between 2200 and 0800ish, but still isn't too bad outside of these hours. Only two other cars there when we stayed, no other vans. Slept well, felt safe. Vodafone had 4G, Three had no signal.
