Unfortunately there was a festival on the weekend we turned up to use this place, so had to find an alternate. I must say it was well placed for an over night stay

  • 3/5

It's always great to feel motorhomes are welcome, so having dedicated spaces is brilliant. We stayed over a bank Holiday weekend, it was v. busy. Tried 3 times to grab a spot and couldn't. Frustratingly a car had taken one of the motorhome spots. Checked again at 9pm on our way out and there was a space. Lots of noise at kicking out time, very loud seagulls. Would come again out of season.

  • 4/5

superb for campervans, bit of a squash for motorhomes. 4 marked out place in yellow lines for motorhomes to park. Great place to park in the middle of the town. Short walk to the harbour, £15.40 24hrs.

  • 5/5

£15 for 24hrs , motorhome parking at the end next to to wall , you will get woken by the clock at 7 am if not already up , fantastic chippy near by was a bonus . Lots of toilets down in the harbour and some lovely walks around the coast path .

  • 5/5

beautiful little place with a large carpark with just a few minutes walk to the harbour or the shops , plenty of places for food & lovely walks . no toilets on carpark but only a few minutes walk to the harbour where toilets are located , M/H allocated parking at rear of carpark, found it nice and quiet at night , rubbish bins near by too if needed

  • 5/5

Stayed here, there were a few spaces when we arrived at 10:30 at night, not the best locations for views but great for being right in the centre of town, no facilities but felt very safe here

  • 5/5

Stayed here two nights with no problems (family of 4 + dog). Have paid 15£ for 24hrs! Very central and close to everything! Nice large spaces for Motorhomes!

  • 4/5

Only parked during the day, but it is nice to have a motorhome friendly carpark in a town centre. Would be great for the night, as quite secluded. However, when we visited, one motorhome decicated space had a car in it, and another has a council shipping container. We got the last space, which was tight, so not ideal if there was an on board fire.

  • 5/5

Very convenient night time parkup. £2.50 for 24hrs in the off season. Good 4g, bins and surprisingly quiet at night. Facilities can be found to the west in the harbour. Would recommend.

  • 4/5

PS There are in fact only three marked (with YELLOW lines) dedicated motorhome spaces.

  • 4/5

Quote (almost) "We arrived at 20.30, paid £9.50, and was given 1 day, 13.5 hours. We could have spent 2 nights for that price! Thanks to the TOWN council for providing this facility." The TOWN council's approach is in distinct contrast to that of North Devon DISTRICT Council. At Hillsborough CP (way out of town) the District demands an extortionate £15.00 just to overnight 18:00-08:00

  • 5/5

I arrived at 18.30, paid £9.50, and was given 1 day, 13.5 hours. I could have spent 2 nights for that price! The site was very nearly level, tarmac surface, and very central. The town is lovely, walks, shops, cafés, great buildings. Thanks to the council for providing this facility.

  • 4/5

Spent 3 nights here, the port is lovely. Water can be found on the harbour side but we didn’t need any. Came and parked for the motorcycle show and ideal for that purpose, shame about the weather. A car has been parked in the motor home only section all weekend which has meant some motor homes have driven off.

  • 4/5

Can be bit noisy first thing in morning but at least they make an effort for motor homes. in fact they allocated a space at end of car park solely for MH. Very handy for town as right in the middle of it. As mentioned.. it's Ropery Car Park.

  • 5/5

Fantastic cheap park up not a great view but only 2 minutes walk from everything. Harbour toilets are closed but pier toilets are 24 hour but a good 5 mins away however loads of pubs are surrounding if you really need it really nice quiet place would recommend it and will be back !

  • 5/5

Great overnight spot with designated motorhome areas £9.50 for 24 hours, nice and quiet apart from seagulls & church bells but really quite liked that. Very close to everything including the harbour and beach Just be AWARE that the car park is actually on ROPERY ROAD not Gilbert Street

  • 5/5

Brilliant ! At last, a town which welcomes MH’s. We were lucky to get a space though. Great fish and chips, good shops and walks. Damien Hurst’s statue of Verity was a bonus. Thank you Ilfracombe

  • 4/5

Close to harbour, Ilfracombe itself is a lovely town however this is just a car park. Bays are clearly marked for motor homes and big but also a bit close together. Big up ilfracombe!

  • 5/5

We parked by the harbour until 8pm then moved to park here for the night (it was a Saturday) and got the last campervan space. Quiet and close to everything, would recommend as a car park location.

  • 5/5

Great location centre of town. £9.60 for 24 hours parking. Quite at night but early noise from bins being emptied and scaffolding being taken down, not the car parks fault I know! toilets on the harbour, five mins walk. Bins on site. Not the most picturesque but certainly did the job for us. Two other campers about. Pay on app or cash.

  • 5/5

OK it's a car park but you are in Central of town stones, throw from harbour and beach plenty of pubs to eat at very quiet apart from church bell would we stay again yes lovely town go visit tunnel beach and look at the Victorian buildings

  • 5/5

Great spot. Close to everything. Nice & quiet, short walk to Spoons. Free from 20:00-08:00

  • 4/5

Good location in the town centre of Ilfracombe, we used postcode EX34 9EF and paid via RingGo. Spaces are tight, but our transit conversion fit snuggly in a normal parking bay. There were a number of motor homes using the larger bays, it was busy a we did see one motor home turn up and leave due to lack of spaces. It is just a car park, relatively quite and there are toilets on the harbour arm.

  • 3/5

Tight parking bays for motorhomes (perfect for van conversions), but fantastic location if only there were more bays and wider it would be 5 stars!

  • 3/5

Parking calme juste à côté du port et des commerces.

  • 3/5

Great place to park to visit Ilfracombe. Couldn’t give a higher score only because it was a car park with no facilities but really it should get a 5 and more councils should provide similar instead of putting up signs that motor homes aren’t welcome after 11.30.

  • 5/5

The address is indeed incorrect, it is the Ropery carpark. Excellent spot however, right in the centre of town. Wetherspoons is less than 5 minutes away - useful for the facilities. There are also 24 HR toilets along the quayside. We paid £2 out of season for 24hrs. A few other campers and vans parked up and we had no issues whatsoever. Great place to stop.

  • 5/5

Fab spot, £2 for 24hrs ( winter tariff) £8 in the summer, close to the harbour. Loads of places to walk the dog. Like somebody else said, what was the planner thinking about, 2 of the spaces are nigh on impossible to get into or out of, nice that we have them to use, someone should have thought a little longer during the design process. Recycling bins at the other end of the car park.

  • 4/5

Great location close to the harbour and high street. Only four spaces one of which would be difficult to enter/exit due to cars parking immediately in front of the space - a poor design. We spent two quiet nights here. A word of warning - we parked in the very corner spot and returned to a cracked sunroof. There’s a poorly maintained chimney on the building that the birds are pecking at and this is leading to the render becoming dislodged. We sustained heavy damage to the sunroof (needs replacing) and the bonnet.

  • 4/5

Excellent town centre site explicitly permitting overnights with a handful of motorhome bays - wish there were more like it! There were about five vans there the night I stopped over and we had a quiet night. You might have to walk to the other end of the car park when paying in order to get a phone signal. BUT address given is very misleading - the car park is on Ropery Road: follow the one-way system past the church and work your way round to it.

  • 4/5

No height restriction barrier right in centre and easy access to food , drink , harbour

  • 3/5

Ok car park for a visit into town. We are a large van and parked in a coach slot without any issues.

  • 2/5

Prices changed and no overnight only option.

  • 4/5

Stayed for one night on Monday 14th sept not bad for a night or two close to everything would recommend

  • 3/5

Very small carpark but located right in the middle of town. £8 for the night. suitable for a quick stop.

  • 2/5

There is a 2.4m height barrier.

  • 1/5

Not suitable for motorhomes over 6m long.

  • 4/5

£6 for 24 hours park at the far end of car park 4 places for motorhomes. Easy access for harbour pubs and shops.

  • 4/5

This is not Gilbert Grove. Please list it as The Ropery car park.

  • 4/5

Parfait, idéalement situé au cœur de la ville parking propre, calme et plat, prix imbattable : 1£ la nuit, forfait possible 24h pour 6£ ou 1£ de l'heure si juste un arrêt poubelle disponible, mais rien d'autre

  • 3/5

Location is right next to harbor, and although motorhome parking is at quieter end of car park still expect plenty of noisy seagulls. £1 overnighting allowed as can be seen from signage.

  • 3/5

Only parked here in the day. winter is £2 for 24 hours including free night parking. good access to shops pubs harbour. 4 marked motor home spaces .

  • 2/5
