good spot, but be aware, overnight parking is now £15, 9pm to 10am. arrival before will incur daytime charge as well

  • 4/5

Lower car park almost to myself. Cheaper to pay here than the other car parks but the ticket is transferable. Toilets open all night. Cafe open 10-4 in September

  • 4/5

Good stop off for the night with a cafe at the top of the car park. Tad sloppy in places but can easily sort out with chocks. Only paid £5.75 and didn’t get a knock from the warden but we did pull up quite late.

We’re here 06-07-2025 what an amazing park up, can’t believe we’re the only ones in the lower car park, bought the ticket via the QR code, arrived at 13:00 booked till 15:00 the next day all for £8.00 The security guy came found at about 18:00 and checked the parking e-mail, he also came round a few times through the evening( felt very safe) don’t be put off by the midges they we’re fine.

Stopped here on 15/6/25 paid using the app £5.50. Warden came around 8pm showed him email and he was on his way. Only people in the car park all night toilets open and clean shop opened at 9 for Coffee unfortunately cafe was shut for renovation work

Excellent stopover. great cycle around the lake. psid by QR code on sign. £5.50 for night.

  • 5/5

£15 a night. Great views, toilets open all night and 5G signal. Had a great sleep. So peaceful here. Bought ticket in advance from bookwhen site and displayed email confirmation in window.

  • 3/5

Lower car park is beautiful by waterside but mostly sloping too much to get level. A few places at far top right after entering are easier. Some fault on payment app via QR code on notice meant we were only charged £5.50 for night. Warden knew about problem and didn’t ask for extra. So fantastic value!

Good nights sleep, lovely view of the lake. Full phone coverage, paid by the app, (as struggled with the machine). Toilets open, centre currently closed for refurb. Quiet, spectacular stars.

  • 5/5

We had a good stop overnight here in the lower car park, no warden.

  • 5/5

Spent a lovely quiet night. Was hoping for the stated wonderful starry skies but when we arrived the cloud had come over. It cleared later but the moon meant it wasn’t dark enough! Warden came along with whistle and checked my receipt for online pay. I also paid £5 plus 50p. Maybe a problem with the app?

perfect overnight stay in Kielder Forest. 2 Car parks to choose from, the overflow is closer to the water. £15 for overnight from 9pm to 9am so we purchased a day ticket too at £5 to park earlier, book online or on site. Clean toilets, I think at least the disabled one is open at night. super quiet at night and the skies....wow! if it's clear its breathtaking.

£15 overnight on one sign & £10 on another sign.Parked in the lower car park.Used the QR code to pay for parking.Arrival time 12.58 19/10,departure time 10.00 20/10.Price came up as £5 50p admin charge. Was confused but paid it. Very nice warden comes at night, he whistles. He knocked on door to check ticket but because my dog was barking a lot he said not to worry. Great view of Kielder Water

Excellent stop over with great walks round Kielder - friendly warden makes it feel very safe.

  • 5/5

Stunning location, overlooking Kielder Reservoir. Amazing sunset @Helpful staff at Visitor Centre- paid £10 overnight. Friendly warden came to say hello as we watched the sunset by the lake, felt very safe as he patrols 3 car parks until 5am.. Large , clean toilets open all night. Cafe & shop from 9am to 5pm.

  • 3/5

Not a bad place to overnight, but don’t go when the midgies are out, May onwards, you’ll get swarmed.

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet spot at the bottom car park looking onto the reservoir behind Tower Knowe. Absolutely pitch black. Warden comes around through the night, so feels safe. Beautiful view in the morning. Toilet block open all night. Pay machines aren’t very clear/helpful, but you can pay at the shop the next day. £10 per night, £5 for a day pass that covers most of Keilder.

  • 5/5

Large, quiet car park with a lovely view of reservoir. £10 for 24 hours via app (signal isn’t great though) or cash at machine/shop. £5 for a day ticket till 9pm that’s transferable to each Kielder car park.

  • 5/5

New ticket machines taking card only, super friendly ranger helped us as couldn’t buy the stated ‘Overnight’ ticket in previous reviews but can get 24hr ticket for £15 from the machine which the ranger said was fine until 9am. Day tickets are valid at most car parks round the lake. Such a clear night and the stars were AMAZING! Car park isn’t level but it’s not too bad.

  • 5/5

Stayed in the overflow car park. £10 over night paid via the website. Very quiet, toilets, dog friendly with places to walk them.

  • 5/5

We had the car park to ourselves. The ranger came to see us as we arrived. You have to pay for daily parking up until 21:00, then the overnight parking tariff kicks in. Also, we bought our overnight ticket at the castle, it’s £12 up there. It’s only £10 if you buy at the machine in this car park. So total cost was £17 because we were there from about 17:00. The machines here only take coins. Only the disabled toilet was available for use. Still, awesome location.

  • 4/5

Good parking. Booked overnight by their parking website as the machine seems to be set up just for all day parking. All details on notice board. Good dark sky site. Need ramps.

  • 4/5

Great place to stop. Only had charges between 6 am and 5pm so we just headed off early. Toilet facilities excellent and because it was so quiet, we were able to wash privately in the baby changing room. Unfortunately, the water tap wasn’t accessible.

Just arrived and the overnight parking has been temporarily suspended. Member of staff told us they were just advised today & don't know why. Very disappointing after driving all the way here..

Ein sehr schöner ruhiger Platz direkt am Stausee. oben gibt es Toiletten und ein Café. Wer nach 17 Uhr kommt, muss aber genug Münzen für den Automaten dabei haben.
