Dog walkers use this place, but it is usual spot for me. at any time of the day or night. it's charming and quiet at night. you do have motocross / enduro bikes on the weekend but most of them slow down for cars. You can get there by van, but you have to go slowly as there are potholes, but that's what keeps the crowds away. several trails that run through the entire forest, don't get lost!

Edit - The road leading to this spot is bumpy and sandy, you do not need a 4x4 at all though. If you enter the road from the A1065 it is MUCH MUCH easier on your vehicle. I tried the other way before and ended up turning back and going the A1065 way. :)

Also, I put 8 vehicles but really that's including the whole road from the recommended entry point, there is a few "lay-by" areas en-route to the main larger parking area. Have a quiet peaceful time and please take rubbish with you, there are no bins or facilities.

nice quiet spot. road abit rough but ok when dry. no phone signal

  • 3/5

Overnighted here many times over the years, never had any problems or seen anything like the previous post says. Wonder if th references were at the far end, the A134 end, which is like that. This end has been 'insulated' from those night-time activities by deep sand and distance!! Phone signal is OK, with EE. The planes are mainly USAF from Lakenheath [F35 and F15/F22]

Drove through here, or should I say ran the gauntlet at about 9pm on friday night (still light). It was absolutely packed with what we are now assuming were doggers. Lots of empty cars, other groups of cars and vans and plenty of 2 car/van parties with some scantily clad men in women's underwear complete with suspenders. very dodgy. think the hills have eyes and you wouldn't be far off.

Track from A1065 is in pretty good condition. Very quiet spot on a sandy soil road. Would recommend if you want a quiet evening. I experienced a bit of jet noise from RAF Lakenheath in the morning, but it wasn't too early (8am it started I think).

  • 4/5

The ground is solid now from all the frost so no chance of getting stuck. Lots of places to park along the road, patchy 4G and a lot of raf planes flying over through the day but some nice walks through the forest

  • 2/5

Nice spot, but be careful you might get STUCK. The earth which is dry clay is quite torn up. Our front wheels got dug in whilst trying to turn around (we are rear wheel drive and couldn't even reverse) and had to get towed out by RAC.

Very peaceful place to stay in nature. Was the only Camper Van there. Few dog walkers visited in the evening before dusk. The track from the A1065 is quite manageable with care but would not suggest attempting from A134, even in a 4x4 it would be unpleasant due to its undulating surface. Noted some fly tipping had occurred nearby.:-(

Lovely wildlife spot with lots of amazing walks around, as mentioned come from the A1065 and the roads fine. Further you go the more rough the track gets. But there's plant of pull ins and flat spots to get some privacy. Further up when we stayed there was some people partying with loud music, but didn't affect us and they did offer for us to join but once refused didn't hear of them again.

  • 3/5

It is in a nice location, but the dirt road is really rough driving along it and it's very dusty. was 2 other vans but I decided not to stay as I have a dog and the ground is too dusty it's almost like red sand

  • 5/5

great park up for the night lovely walk with the dog nice and quiet no one here load of deer and pheasants

  • 3/5

A lovely and peaceful spot , plenty of lay-bys. Be aware that this is a DOG walking paradise , we were approached in daylight and asked if we were up for it….nobody came around after about 7 pm though except for the odd bike .

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet place to stay.. just take it easy driving down the track. Did remove a broken camping chair and some other rubbish!! Come on even if it’s not yours take it with you and dispose. That’s how restrictions get put on these places.

  • 5/5

fantastic place, so peaceful you could even hear an owl. I stayed here last night and no one was around. lots of potholes and very sandy. you will come away with a good night's sleep and a dirty van.

  • 5/5

Fantastic and so dark and quiet, a new favourite. A bit bumpy but ok with care. Sandy subgrade which does get everywhere. Still a favourite.

  • 4/5

Stayed here last night with one other van. Very very quiet. A couple of friendly early dog walkers around 8am then nothing until trials bikes around 10am. Would def stay here again.

  • 5/5

Excellent quiet except the odd noise from planes. Feels like your miles away from it all.

  • 5/5

Absolute gem. No facilities or bins, sand top layer over dirt ground; fairly level. Lovely forest walks adjacent. Lots of dog walkers early morning, but very quiet overnight. No camping/overnight prohibited signs anywhere. Will definitely visit again.

  • 5/5

Beautiful place. We arrived very late at night - watch out for the deer! Ground is very uneven, go super slow. Pitch black & dead silent all night. A few 4x4s, motorcross bikes and the odd dog walker were around in the morning but otherwise we had the place to ourselves. We were stunned by our surroundings when we woke up.Friendly wave from the house at bottom of lane when we departed.

  • 5/5

excellent quiet spot in the heart of the forest but less than a 5 minute drive in to town for supplies. super secluded and plenty of space

  • 5/5

We loved it so much, we came back! Beautiful spot - endless running/walking paths. Fabulous starry night skies.

  • 5/5

Absolutely beautiful spot in the middle of the forest. Peaceful & safe. Well worth the bumpy ride up the dirt path & easily accessible for motor homes- just take it slowly!

  • 5/5

Lovely spot. Right in the middle of the woods. Walks from the door. Found a level spot. Up sandy road. Bit rough but don’t need a 4x4. We were here at Christmas and it was very quiet. Enough room for several campers/vans.

  • 4/5

Nice spot, we stayed on the weekend and there were a lot of dirtbikes during the day as to be expected on a byway but quiet at night. we initially tried the A134 entrance but had to turn back after a while as it became impassable and would be easy to get stuck in the sand if you dont have off road tyres. The access from the A1065 is much easier and even large campers should be able to manage.

  • 4/5

A good place for a night stop, off the beaten track and quiet.

  • 5/5

What an amazing place to stop, road a little bumpy on way up, but the spot was quiet and relaxing 100% be back again.

  • 4/5

It was certainly a quiet spot - no one to be seen. Very bumpy road, no bins. Beautiful forest surrounding. Few dog walkers in the AM
