Ended up staying for 3 nights as the weather was wet & we needed to hunker down! Great location close to the town. Great little cinema! It gets cheaper the longer you stay so 3 nights was £50.

  • 4/5

Great location for the town centre. Short Minute walk through a park for toilets, 60p to access. water and waste facilities. just lacking some rubbish bins, but very clean and pitches are perfect. Rung Graham when we arrived and he provided the code, message your reg when your set up and leave £20 (per night) in an envelope (all provided) for your stay. would definitely return.

  • 4/5

Great park up we stayed 4 nights for £60, within walking distance of the town centre with fresh water available as well as toilet emptying and grey water though this isn’t a drive over. Would definitely stay again.

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

Very convenient for an evening visit into Ambleside for a few drinks since it’s within walking distance. Super quiet overnight. Highly recommend!

  • 5/5

Great little stop! Felt very safe and it was lovely and quiet. Waste disposal and water available. Easy honesty box method to pay. Great for dogs on lead. Will be back again very soon!

  • 5/5

Prima! Alles was Camper so benötigen. Besten Dank!

  • 5/5

Stopped just for services, unfortunately not a drive over grey waste disposal but managed to at least fill our water tank. Need to text Graham your reg & he will send the code etc. Honesty box for payment, write reg number on provided envelope. Wish there were more of these in the UK that allowed a stop just for services without staying.

  • 5/5

Lovely spot, quiet nights sleep and the town is busy with lots of restaurants and a few pubs. Very easy going so make sure you stick to the rules please and leave your money in the honesty box.

  • 5/5

Came here just for the facilities and left a donation in the honestly box. I sent Graham a text beforehand and he was very happy for us to do so!

  • 5/5

We had a brilliant night stay in the heart of Ambleside! The site was quiet and there was plenty of room. Ambleside is located just around the corner. Water available. Toilets are a 5 min walk away (60p contactless charge). You pay for your stay via an honesty box. We will definitely stay here again!

  • 4/5

This motorhome aire is great. Water, grey and black waste disposal. Please ensure you have your own facilities - it is NOT a campsite, it’s an aire. Unfortunately not all adhere to this and we witnessed a T5 with huge awning, kids running about and dog off lead, and their mate in a Citroen berlingo car and huge tent attached to the rear of it that encroached onto our area. Zero etiquette.

  • 5/5

we stayed 16-18th may 23 and we love this site, you will need your own facilities but it does have water, waste & toilet services, the site is so close to the centre of ambleside and most buses run through so you don't need a car to get around, its quiet at night and there's plenty of walks from the site. the cost reasonable as other sites are a lot more expensive, we will be back thanks Graham

  • 4/5

Stayed here for one night, close to the beautiful small town of Ambleside; it’s located on the edge of a football club and a public car park and it was a very peaceful nights sleep. Personally I’d make sure you have your own facilities as the public toilet is not that nice…. But this isn’t connected to the site, it’s about a 6 minute walk away. Grass was a touch long, but would come back.

  • 5/5

Great aire. Good size pitches with full service. Very peaceful and only a short walk to Ambleside. The Great North pie company just minutes away is fantastic, it’s open 9:30-16:30 (closed tues/weds).

  • 5/5

We had a great two night stay here, very quiet at night and just perfect for a short stroll into town. Graham was very polite and efficient.

  • 5/5

Great stay. Booked ahead with Graham, although lots of spaces this time of year. Nice walk to Roman fort ruins and great cakes in the Apple Pie Cafe. Will come back.

  • 3/5

  • 5/5

Great little place, stayed 3 times now and enjoyed every stay.

  • 5/5

stayed for three nights for £50 changed since last here more hard standing pitches, Graham the owner is a great bloke would recommend just for the proximity to town

  • 2/5

£20 a night to just park up with no toilets or showers ECT too expensive for basic parking

  • 5/5

Bardzo ładnie położone miejsce. Blisko do miasteczka, jeziora i ścieżek do spacerów. Polecamy to miejsce.

  • 5/5

Excellent stopover in the heart of Ambleside. No facilities other than fresh water & grey/black waste disposal, but everything tidy & clean. We had a h/s spot with a small patch of grass alongside. Graham is really helpful and responsive to messages. Paid £140 for 12 nights which we think is great value to stay in Ambleside with immediate access to fantastic walking. Would definitely go back!

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Stayed 4 Nights in MoHo, rained constantly but Hardstanding remained good. Water and chemical waste but grey water needs hose. 4 nights £60 but need to book in 1st easy walk into town. Local mini cinema is fab and dry. Quiet at night.

  • 5/5

Spent two nights here earlier this week and used the waste wheelie bins in the main car park as we walked the 5 minutes into Ambleside. will be back later in the year

  • 3/5

As people have said good location but limited services. 20 pounds is realistically too high should be less or at least a discount for 2 days. and put rubbish disposal in.. on chatting to others many think the same Graham

  • 4/5

Only thing it's missing is some bins! But there are general waste bins in the car park next to it. Great stop over with a field behind, fab for the dogs, lots of nice walking nearby and only a short walk to Ambleside. I work online and the signal was plenty, strong 4G on 3, 4G with Tesco. Grey waste dump is a bit awkward, you'll need a hose.

  • 5/5

Spacious and well located, just a few minutes walk into Ambleside. We were here the beginning of July and there was loads of space. Simply text 447708310986 to book / get the access code. There's a huge field, around 10 hard standing pitches and a further hard standing area. If you stay here I'd recommend the Wansfell Pike walk ( on the All Trails app). Stunning views.

  • 5/5

Stayed the night here for £20. Parking level and no issue for our 7.4m van. Peaceful. Services by the gate - so emptying grey waste means blocking the entrance/exit. Good signal on EE (best we’ve had in lake district so far). A good option if visiting Ambleside or needing to use services.

  • 5/5

We came here after spending the night in Rayrigg carpark next to Lake Windemere. Very easy to find, and Graham text us back within minutes with the code. We only stayed a couple of hours to refill the fresh water and dispose of waste. Quite a few motorhomes/campers on site, but the area is large enough to not feel cramped. Very nice indeed.

  • 5/5

Safe stop over - gated. Short walk into town. Public toilets a minutes walk away. £20 per night. Around 7 other vans here on a Tuesday in early May

  • 5/5

Great facility in the centre of town, close to excellent public toilets. Managed to squeeze in at May bank holiday, but it soon filled up.

  • 5/5

perfect spot right in centre for ambleside, simple and basic , clean and tidy, toilets nearby

  • 4/5

  • 4/5

Nice place. Easy and short walk into town with loads of pubs and places to drink and eat. Also loads of outdoor clothes shops.

  • 4/5

Fantastic location, straightforward to use by texting for the gate code. Quiet at night, fun to watch the park run go by on Saturday morning. Only downside is no ehu for the price and grey water is tricky if you don’t have a hose. Overall it’ll add up if you stay more than a couple of days but nice to be in such a great location.

  • 5/5

Stayed here 24th & 25th March. We chose this location as it was our first nights in a rented camper van and wanted facilities (water and waste points available). It has excellent access into Ambleside for shops/pubs etc either from the car park entrance or via the footpath into Rothay Park. Good access to a route up Loughrigg Fell from Rothay Park or around to Rydal Water.

  • 5/5

Excellent little stop just end the edge of Ambleside with shops and toilets a short walk away quiet at night

  • 5/5

Had a great stopover here in my car with a roof tent. I text Graham about access and he got straight back to me with the code to get in. I'll definitely stay again soon!

  • 5/5

Arrived here hoping to stay the night and use the facilities to empty and refill however the site was full. (Looked due to sitting water and boggy pitches) We contacted the telephone number provided on the gate to ask if we could use the facilities but not stay over night while still making a donation for allowing us the use. ‘G’ replied explaining that would be no problem and gave us the access code for the lock. We quickly did this and made our donation into the box. Grey waste disposal is with a hose or bucket rather than drive over grate or manhole. The position of the stopover for Ambleside would have been great, very close walking distance which is easily accessible for all. Wish there were more spots like this that are so accommodating.

  • 5/5

Great park up in the centre of Ambleside. Water, waste disposal and plenty of space. £20 for the night is good value. Graham is very friendly. Wish there were more places like this.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Brilliant park up!! Water, waste and toilet disposal! Lovely walk to town or along the river or round the park. £20 for one night, £40 for 2 nights, £50 for 3 nights, £60 for 4 nights and more nights are negotiable.

  • 5/5

The field was open for the bank holiday weekend, maybe 20 vans in there, but plenty of space and super chilled. funny to wake up on Saturday with the park run doing a very quiet loop of the field. makes me feel super lazy. lol. Brilliant spot for walk into Ambleside for day / night life. one of my favorite places. Thanks to Graham.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

zuerichsee, thank you for updating this. When we found this place and added it to park4night it was very new and the details we listed are exactly what we were told by security, so I can imagine that this may have changed over the last year.

  • 5/5

Einfach perfekt. Erledigt

  • 5/5

Best site we have stayed at yet, beautiful location and not far from town or lake Windermere. No EHU but they do have water supply and chemical waste disposal. Lots of space really adding to the already great value for money.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

A mixture of pitching on gravel or grass, loo and water facilities. Public toilets open 24/7 a couple of minute walk away, Easy access (just text the number on the fence for gate code) and loads of room. Quick walk in to town so ideal place. £20 paid in the morning when G did the rounds.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

great place to stop been here 2 nights very peaceful and laid back site even in August short walk to town pubs, food, shops and lake will be returning

  • 5/5

Stayed here overnight after finding on park4night. Text the number on the gate and got very quick reply with lock code. Pitched up down on the grass side with loads of rooms around. It was funny on the Saturday morning when we opened up the local park run came past the van within 2-5ft, so we had some good banter with the runners! Would defo stay again, quiet, no noise, water available.

  • 5/5

Gate is at far end of car park on right hand side. The field is quiet and peaceful. Beautiful location. Will definitely be back

  • 5/5

We didn’t stay here, but we did fill our water tank up after texting the number to check if this was ok. They didn’t take long to reply, we left some money in the honesty box.

  • 4/5

Great for exploring the area and close to town. fresh water and elson point. locked gate to access. Hard standing and grass area which are both a little unattended but perhaps a work in progress...I thought £20 a night was a little steep but a no bother site as a bonus

  • 5/5

Quiet night with no disturbances. Wonderful views of Fairfield Horseshoe, Wansfell Pike and Loughrigg. Ring or text mobile number on gate for code to get in. Graham got back to me quite quickly. I used the nearby public loo in the park, which stayed open all night. No light in there so take a torch when it gets dark. Grey water disposal and drinking water included in price. Had no problems.

  • 5/5

    Alles schon gesagt. Einfach TOP!

  • 5/5

What a great find. Spent an enjoyable evening in Ambleside, short walk away. Will be back.

  • 5/5

Amazing location and site for motor homes. Walking distance to the lake, park and village. No toilets or electric hook up but waste disposal and water available.

  • 5/5

Didn’t spend the night but text the number on the gate and were more than happy for us to fill with water and empty tanks for a donation in the honesty box. Seems very thankful that we had the decency to ask rather than just helping ourselves so maybe they’ve had a lot of walk ins?

  • 5/5

stayed for 2 nights. quiet spot, really cebtral. stayed with a 4 Yr old and a dog, no bother at all.

  • 5/5

Absolute gem for free water. Can help yourself and can park right next to tap

  • 5/5

Brilliant motorhome Aire with easy access to Ambleside town and plenty of walks. Basic facilities (no electric) and parking is in an area separated from car park by a fence and a gate. Text number on gate on arrival and you get call back very quickly to find out how to make cash payment. Will definitely stay again but sounds as though it’s getting popular, particularly at weekends.

  • 5/5

Fantastic little find. Arrived here and had it all to ourselves. sent a message to the number on the gate, Graeme called and he was fantastic. A very trusting gentleman . Chemical Toilet service point and water replen/disposal on site. 10 minute walk into town. We will be back.

  • 5/5

Great little spot if you want to take advantage of everything in Ambleside. Basic but has everything needed and very useful out of season. Graham seems really nice and is quick to get back to you.

  • 4/5

Lovely little park up nice and quiet. The gentleman that runs the place is very nice just give him a call when you get there and he will explain everything. The only thing wrong with this place is that there’s no bins. The village is absolutely beautiful with some great shops so be sure to check them out. Also there is a pizza place right next to the car park probably the best customer service and pizza I’ve ever had.

  • 5/5

Absolutely brilliant place safe and peaceful, found this place after trying to get on a site on 29/12/21,needed water and empty toilet ended up staying 2 nights highly recommended, definitely will use again.

  • 5/5

Great place in the town centre of Ambleside, just me and the dog and felt very safe. Gated, water supply and toilet sluice area. Plenty of room to park and turn around, probably park up to 20 spaces. Graham is lovely and trusts you to leave the money as well, think it’s worth £20 for but of security and to be surrounded fellow campers.

  • 5/5

It took us a while to find the disposal for our toilet. But it’s behind a little wooden ‘wall’ see photo.

  • 5/5

Lovely place, cost only £10 in a swb van in the gravel carpark
