We stayed at this car park on 01/06/26 in our 6.72 meter motorhome. We parked at the bottom of the car park where we were able to overhang the back end onto the grass verge. It was fairly level and we had other motorhomes around us. We had a really lovely quiet night and slept really well. We felt very safe. It was free to stay overnight between 6pm and 8am. Well done Powys council.
Good place for overnight stop. Great town for the bookshops and the people. Food near, castle near, shops near. Free overnight so bought books & food instead, pay back into the town.
Stayed here 14/07/25 down the bottom of car park with few other vans. Free overnight 6pm to 8am. Peaceful night. Teachers and parents start arriving early for Hay-on-wye primary school and library situated to right side of car park. Register with Powys County Council to access free guest WiFi (can connect when closed from outside). Great curry house in the town. As always leave no trace.
Free overnight spot right opposite the castle in town. Flat at the bottom end where you can use the grass behind as the overhang. Busy car park in the day but plenty of space overnight & really quiet.

Our second time staying here as a family. Great stop. We park up and enjoy the cafes and bookshops. Peaceful overnight.
A good spot, £10 all day free over night. Boy racers are a pain but other than that no issues.

if you can find a space at the bottom end of the car park, it's a fantastic area to stopover with the town a couple of minutes walk away.. there are bins and the craft centre has a toilet which costs 50p... very quiet night and thoroughly recommend
Very quiet, flat ground at lower end of car park. Fee now £10 per day. Short walk into Hay on Wye. Market day on Saturday. O2 ok, EE and three not brilliant.
Not sure if something has changed here but, when we arrived another van had received a ticket for "not parking in a designated bay". There are none! This despite paying the motorhome rate and not overhanging the bay. We have stayed here for years, so took our chance and were ok, both daytime and overnight. Not sure if the warden was having a bad day?

Emplacement idéal pour passer la journée à Hay on Wye, nous y sommes restés pour la nuit qui a été parfaitement calme. Emplacements bien plans en bas. 5 ou 6 camping-cars seulement en plein mois de juillet, il restait de la place. Pas de services sur place, il faut prévoir d'être autonome.
amazing spot. £8 for the day is fantastic given what the town has to offer. I've been back twice now and it's probably one of my favourite easy spots. big up Hay-On-Wye!!

Great value, great location, the village in one direction and footpaths in the other. Needless to say how great Hay-on-Wye is. 10/10 would come back to stay at this car park again
What a wonderful place to park for the day and night. the town is lovely and full of great shops, cafes and places for tea! reasonable prices for day parking then then free overnight. Bins at the car park and handly toilets from 8-8. would recommend it for the night if in the area.
Parken mit WoMo 7.35m lang in letzter Reihe überhaupt kein Problem. Superschöner Ort mit freundlichen Einheimischen. Die Bibliothek am Parkplatz ermöglicht Zugang zu PC/Internet.Bis etwa 22 Uhr etwas laut ,aber nachts ruhig.Parkplatz eben... Gassi mit angeleintem Hund direkt am Parkplatz über die Weiden erlaubt. Wir sind gerne hier.
Motorhome spaces are so narrow you can not get out of your van...Also a fire Risk. Watch out for Overhanging trees at space's. Great idea but not though out properly. Not recommended.
As great as a car park can be, really busy during the day so just parked anywhere, in the evening moved to the bottom alongside other campers and motor homes. Free overnight but only for 1 night , can’t return for 7. Right by the town and lots of beautiful walk. Paid toilets 30p at end of car park, locked from 8pm. All in all a quiet stay apart from a couple of boy racers but they left early
quiet and safe place to park overnight, very quiet in March. Can stay 1 night in 7 and free 6pm - 8am. £5 for 2 hours parking for vans before then. would recommend :-)
This is a great stop. We stayed as a family and felt completely safe. We walked along the Wye and loved all the bookshops and cafes in town. Very quiet night.
Lovely peaceful park up, as others have said parked at the bottom and was nice and flat. Short walk for a wonder around Hay on Wye. Free between 6pm to 8pm. We arrived slightly early around 4:30 but had no issue

Bellissimo parcheggio con possibilità di pernotto. Si pagano 8 £ dalle 08:00 AM alle 06:00 PM. La notte è gratuito. Vicinissimo alla città, e se hai un cane c'è un fantastico Parco dove portarlo Molto tranquilla la notte. Parcheggia in fondo perché è più pianeggiante. Il mio van (6.36 m) c'è stato nelle righe.

Très calme, même en plein mois de juillet nous étions 4 vans et camping-cars. Le parking est payant de 8am à 6pm : 4 euros par jour pour les vans <3,5t, et 8 euros pour les >3,5t. Possibilité de payer le soir pour le lendemain.

Prima plekje om te overnachten. Rij wel door naar achteren daar zijn de plekken vlakker, vooraan hellend. Toiletten 30pence gesloten in de avond. Leuk om overdag het stadje te ontdekken
Lovely spot. Very flat down the end where you will see heaps of other campers. Toilets were 30p, closed at night though. Cute town, lovely pubs, good fudge shop.
Fijne plek voor een overnachting. In de buurt van winkels en enkele pubs. Erg rustig ‘s nachts maar om 08:00 wel even een dagkaart kopen. Zeker aan te bevelen.
Huge car park, you can park anywhere but the bottom is definitely the flattest spot & better for longer vehicles. Quiet night & lovely town to wander around. Most things are closed on Mondays! Free 6pm-8am but you will need a ticket at all other times.
It’s a carpark on the edge of a town - so I’ll hold off giving it a 5 star rating, but… as far as urban car parks go - it’s pretty darn good. Backs onto fields while also only 3 mins walk from the very centre of town. We had a great pub meal out and we’re able to stroll back after a couple of pints to a very quiet spot. Would recommend while in town.
Expensive if you get here at 5pm and leave at 10am. it's free over night from 6 till 8. but if you get there at 5 you have to pay a minimum of £5 for 2 hours and it doesn't roll over you need to pay again at 8am.. we had a freight truck parked up near us with his fridge keeping us awake most of the night. we found Hay very expensive.
Stayed one night in October, a few others campers there. Very quiet overnight and felt very safe. Great for visiting the town. Had a lovely meal in the Three Tuns pub (dating back to 1600). Toilets were shut from around 17.30, maybe open later in the summer. Would stay here again.

Large car park and flat at the bottom end where there is direct access to a big field for dog walking. Bins. Toilets open during the day for 30p ( can pay by card) free parking 6pm-8am . Can pay by card outside of those hours. Busy on a school day as the primary school is at the edge of the car park. Definitely a good spot. Easy walk into town.

We really enjoyed our stay here - obviously not the most scenic parkup, but it was quiet, flat and was a great place to get some sleep after a long drive.

Huge disappointment. Had to leave… having paid £6 for a parking ticket as phone signal disappeared. I piggy back my iPad off my phone and that’s how I get tv. Tried numerous parking spaces and signal disappeared after a minute or 2 in each. Had to resort to leaving the car park and found a lay-by instead.
Price is now £6 per day with free overnight allowed one night in Seven.

Good for 1 night as that’s all you are allowed in every 7, we had a quiet night overall. But the car park does start getting busy from about 7am so no good if you fancy a lie in. Nice & close to shops Etc , 30p toilets at the top of car park.
Ideal for a 1 night stop over to explore the town the next day. Free during the night,£4 until 1800. Quiet undistrurbed sleep with a few other vans here when I stayed! Lovely view across the field if you pick the right spot. Plenty of space late but early morning quickly fills up. Launderette just over the road, and a post office too for change!

Free overnight parking from 6pm-8am. As mentioned, ticket man is ready and waiting by 8am, so make sure you're paid up or leaving. residents/visitors use the recycling banks before 7am so don't expect a lie in! Unfortunately that's where the most level parking is! A quiet night however, would use again!
Good stay over place, safe but very busy in morning. lovely village lots of book and antique shops and a large castle to go see. toilets are up by the arts n crafts center, toom us ages to find.
Really quiet park up with lovely views at the bottom of the car park. Toilets were a bit shabby but definitely usable. Can walk through the field with the horses if you want. We paid the night before to save an early morning. Definitely return again
Ideal for a visit to the town. Free overnight. Nice outlook at the bottom over the fields. Toilets at the top of the car park. Main ones close overnight but the unisex single one at the back stays open. Great town. Market on a Thursday was nice.

Perfect place for the night. We parked at the bottom, where it was levelled and the back of the van faced a beautiful field with horses. There were no other vans there for the night, very peaceful. Big bins available too. Very close to town and a couple of pubs which serve dinner. Toilets were locked at night.

Great car parking, very well located! £8 all day for a motorhome and free overnight! Although motorhome can only stay for one night per week. That seems to be a rule in many car parks in this area.
Even though no facilities great spot to spend night. Powys Council Motorhome friendly. Very useful to have recycling facilities. Make sure you pay fee as carpark warden is very prompt in the morning. Good dog exercise area on the field and very easy to reach the lovely town and many bookshops.
Great spot, close to centre. There is also a field to walk dogs behind the car park. Flat spot down the bottom. Recycling bins but no other amenities. Very quiet through the night. Only downside is need to leave by 8 or pay for parking. £2 an hour or over 4 hours £8.
Great quiet car park as said by others. We were one of five motor homes that stayed there the same night. Parking is free from 18:00-8:00 but beware the warden starts his round at 8:00am! You can pay the night before for the day after thereby not having to get out of bed early to fill the meter!.......which takes cash and card. Good spot for exploring Hay.

Great stop, very quite and the fields right behind with lots of sheep and horses, great access for walks. Park down the bottom is flat. Very peaceful and there were 5 other campers in the car park, plenary of space though
Great location near the centre of town, plenty of bookshops if you are looking for some second hand bargains. Parking meter only takes coins, no change given.

Empty quiet at night (except for sheep). Paying toilets were closed after 8pm but disabled toilet still open. As others said, very steep except for the bottom part.
Marked bays too short for our 6.5 length but there was no mention of having to pay double if taking up two bays and, as the photo of the parking charges shows, there is a specific charge during the day for motorhomes. So we paid for over 4 hours £3.20 then it was free to stay overnight once in seven nights. Good convenient parking. Peaceful and quiet on the Monday we stayed. Facilities not required for one overnight stay.
Nice little bar nearby 'blue boar' with a cool little beer garden. Car park is on a big hill, so as long as there's space at the bottom you're all good.
