NatalieTravels23/08/2025Stayed several nights in this great place in the middle of fields with wonderful views and walks over rolling hills. Better than highway lay-by or town parking lot which is most UK overnight parking. You can hear the traffic (and sheep!) but it’s not bad. Slept well. No services, no lights so 100% dark but always other vans. Only downside was 5 mile drive to free toilet at Tesco. Good 4G signal.

SinbadGeorge14/01/2025It's free, so not a lot to criticise....but....really busy road A4. We knew this so it wasn't a surprise. Traffic tailed off around 1am, but still lots of HGV trundling past. Sloping ground, but doable, didn't need the ramps. Top of the area very churned up, so not good, down to it being January. Good for visiting the standing stones. No services
aubkoenig12/09/2024Super Platz, um die Gegend zu erkunden. Wir stehen im unteren Teil, aber man kann mit einem kleineren WoMo den Ridgeway hochfahren, dort ist die Aussicht phantastisch und es ist sehr ruhig. Die Durchfahrtverbotsschilder beziehen sich nur auf die Zeit Oktober bis April. Die "Dauercamper" sind OK und zeigen einem, wo man am besten steht :-)

I've slept here a few times and there's nothing to complain about. The location is great for walks with historical monuments everywhere, the Carpark itself is on The Ridgeway. Can get noisy, but it's a good compromise for the location and views.

Great place to stop. I stayed one night and there was one other van there. Some road noise and rather windy but not too bad. Lots of places to walk including lots of standing stones and the Ridgeway.

Flat and lots of space. Next to busy road so ear plugs required but far enough away to feel comfortable with dogs. Appears to be a permanent van community which I found uncomfortable as a solo traveller but they appear to be friendly. 11 vans here and room for more. Not as busy with walkers at the weekend compared to other spots in the area. Not my first choice but would return for a night.
WanderWebb26/02/2023Lovely overnight spot with open views and early sun, weather permitting. Had a few neighbours too, some of which appear to be regulars which was nice and reassuring. Super handy for the Ridgeway and Avebury.

Great spot. Quite close to the road bit not too noisy. Perfect for walk to Sanctuary/ West Kennett Long Barrow/ Silbury Hill/ Avebury. A few vans that look long term. Felt safe.

Great location to which I noticed when on route back one day. Decided last minute to come tonight and a few other vans and dog walkers which were all friendly. Beautiful sunset…. Hopefully see the sunrise too… will def be back to do some of walks and stay over.

First time travelling around and this was our first stop. Great spot with a few vans staying there. Traffic noise due to the road proximity but not overbearing. Flat terrain. Good starting point for exploring the local sites of Avebury.

No signs prohibiting overnight parking and there were 4 vans parked up. Next to busy road, so doesn’t really get quiet. And very noisy on a Monday morning. There are better spots nearby.
