Was really peaceful and quiet, great views nothing apart from inconsiderate people turning up after midnight and just being noisy,

  • 5/5

Great location fantastic walk to the waterfall or to up to Loch Skeen. No services but we had a lovely nights sleep.

  • 5/5

Fantastic location with nice hike up the waterfall to the Loch at the top. was very windy and wet overnight when we stayed, needed to put pop top down in the middle of the night.

  • 5/5

Great stopover. Only one in there really quite. Lovely dark sky, until the supermoon came up. Thanks to the NI for letting us use this space .

  • 5/5

Magnifique, super calme, terrain plat. Pas de services. Services les plus proches a Moffat

  • 5/5

Beautiful location at the start of the Grey Mare's tail. Level parking area. National Trust members free.

  • 5/5

Goede nacht gehad. De ranger toestemming gevraagd om te overnachten en dat was geen probleem. Eén keer parkeerkosten hoeven betalen als we na het ontbijt vertrokken. Top!

Drive a few miles further than given postcode location to reach carpark. there's a carpark either side of the bridge. 2nd one full of motorhomes, first was cars. Parked our 7.2m motorhome no issues. Truly stunning setting. kids played in the shallow stream all day. didn't do the full walk as very steep edge and worried with kids. Took short walk on left of waterfall to a viewing platform- 10min

  • 5/5

Fab location. Very peaceful, with only the sounds of the stream to lull you to sleep. £4 payable by cash or card. Taking the walk up Grey Mares Tail to Loch Skeen is definitely worth the effort

  • 5/5

£4 for parking. only myself and 3 others all night. very busy will hill walkers but by 5pm it was really quiet. got busier again around 9am. no noise all night other than the stream. perfect wee spot

  • 5/5

Really lovely spot. We paid £4 for a parking ticket. I asked the ranger how long the ticket was for and she said until midnight but if you’re camping it’s okay. Lovely and quiet, sheep right outside your window. Make sure you do the hike to Loch Skeen, worth the climb!

  • 5/5

Great stopover, turned up at 2am and had around 10 other motorhomes and campers all staying. Nice and quiet. Slept in the car and awoke to a fairly busy car park with hikers and other campers but had no issues. Would recommend

  • 5/5

Definitely recommend for a parkup if passing through Moffat, there is a £4 charge which goes to the keep of the park, there is a stream and if your feeling fit, a nice walk, surrounded by mountains.

  • 5/5

Stayed here last night and was the only one here. A few people walking their dogs up to the waterfall but had the place to myself from 6pm. Completely silent at night apart from the sound of the river. Good hiking area and lovely views. £4 for the night, absolute bargain. Please leave no trace.

  • 5/5

Lovely area and quiet overnight other than the odd log lorry. Another 5 camper vans here overnight with us but sound of the stream drowned out any other noise. Now £4 to park but ticket machine takes coins and card so no bother.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Prachtige plek! Rustig, schoon, goed bereikbaar en aan de voet van een prachtige wandelroute naar de watervallen. Vlakke ondergrond en ruimte voor een vuilniszakje. £3 parkeerkosten.

  • 5/5

Lovely spot off the road with plenty of space. Arrived in the dark but woke up to lovely views of the stream and mountains. £3 parking via machine. Quiet road until around 7am. No light pollution either.

  • 5/5

Stayed last night lovely little park up. Quiet and safe. Lovely walk to a beautiful waterfall.

  • 5/5

When we stayed here on a Friday night there were about 10 other vans. It was very peaceful with walkers arriving early morning to hike to the waterfall. For a first overnight stop in Scotland it’s a gem in stunning scenery.

  • 5/5

Amazing park up. Paid the £3 both days and displayed ticket. Parking overnight seems allowed thankfully! Beautiful walk. Opportunity to do a full days hike with the loop or 1.5-2 hour walk up and down to the nature reserve. Can't wait to come back.

  • 5/5

This was a really lovely place to overnight, what a privilege to be able to walk around in the Moonlight at this fantastic location. Very quiet, there were two other vans when we were there, but parked discreetly at a distance from us. No facilities, but absolutely no trouble parking. £3 for a day, and then we were off in the morning. no sign saying not to overnight, and we understand it is allowed.

  • 5/5

Great overnight spot we parked on the first car park we came to definitely flatter lovely water in front from the spectacular waterfall enjoy .

  • 5/5

A beautiful spot. Plenty of space, £3 till midnight. No other posts to suggest parking overnight not allowed. Although it is National Trust and is free to members. Great walk up to the stunning Loch Skeen. Highly recommend. Nice and quiet also. No issue with midges.

  • 5/5

Beautiful park up - lots of space! Signal fine no midges. Please pay or consider making a donation for the upkeep! Also carrifran wildwood is worth a visit - for a fine example of rewilding

  • 5/5

Fabulous spot, very safe to park and the sound of running water from the stream helps you sleep . Just a short walk up the hill is an amazing view of the waterfall

  • 5/5

I spent 2 nights in this absolutely stunning location beside a quiet road. The water is great for a nice cold morning dip and the car park gives perfect access to the paths above for running or hiking. There is now a bin provided in the car park and there are pay machines - £3 per 24 hours. The ranger does come round and check.

  • 5/5

Only stopped for one night on the way further up north but it was stunning. Flat, clean car park. Very quiet despite there being a few other Vans, highly recommend.

  • 5/5

A really quiet night in a beautiful spot, despite being around a dozen vans parked up overnight. No facilities, but I don’t need any. Perfect!

  • 4/5

Stayed for a night. Parking is £3 or free for national trust members. Lovely spot beside river and walk to waterfall. Only downside bit traffic noise. No services but ideal for motor homes

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

Absolutely stunning spot. nice trek to loch for a dip as well. fairly quiet once the Day trippers had left. a must for me.

  • 5/5

Beautiful and peaceful place to spend a night. Parking charge is £3 but neither machines were working when we were there. No bins available.
