RE OPENED!! Having visited this site on a regular basis nearly 50 years ago as a young boy and having a trip down memory lane,it’s still as beautiful and quiet as the old days!! The Old post office, obviously upgraded from the last time I was here, was brilliant!!!! Great staff, excellent facilities and beautiful quiet pitch by the river!!! Will definitely not leave it as long for our next visit.

***Now closed *** We paid last weekend and halfway through the weekend the locksmith came to change the locks and turn off electric and water. The signed there says office closed pick pitch 1 -10 but no power or water to these. We live nearby and I checked today on my way past.

lovely campsite. loved falling the sleep with the sounds of the stream next to us. shower toilets and washing up areas was very clean. nice hot water in showers for november! free wifi was abit weak connection at times but still good. no signal to use 4G. man who checked us in was super super lovely. very good breakfast place down the road called sawmill best food! 10 min drive to wast water!

This is a quaint little campsite, especially the area around the little roundabout, near to the bridge. The nearby pub serves excellent food and has a wide range of beers and wines. There is a lovely little tea shop up the hill and turn right, excellent cakes. We found the toilet/shower block was a letdown as it had no heating whatsoever and considering it was October it was cold.

Lovely picturesque site with great views of peaks on one side and a stream on the other. Muddy pitches in photo on this app have been updated to either bark or gravel. Great facilities but costs £1 for 20 min use of laundry machines and change is difficult to get from them. Owners are friendly but seem a little unorganised and lazy. Pub next door is great, dog friendly and serves good food!

£25 for small van and 2 people without electric for 1 night. Spaces were along the rivers edge so could open the van doors up to it in the morning which was great. Showers 50p for 10mins and hairdryer 20p (although the hairdryer was cold and weak so used the hand dryer instead) Has washing machines available at a charge. Waste disposal, water and WiFi included.

£20 a night for two in a small van after a day on scafell. Nice modern and clean showers . (They are 50p but you get 10 mins and the owner will give you change). very well kept site with pub 1 min walk. would definitely stay again.

Lovely stop after we hiked scafell. Showers available for 50p, nice location by the river, no fires allowed but a great convenient place to came with our camper-van (access to electricity)

Arrived there on Friday 30th of April 2021. Expecting to find the facilities closed due to COVID however all showers and toilets open. Brilliant site with all new hard standing areas. EHU on all hard standing pitches. £30 pound per night. Showers 50p for 10 minutes. Very hot water and extremely clean. We would definitely stay here again. We were in a Transit Custom camper van. Ideally located for Wasdale Head and all mountains in that area.

We live locally to this campsite and the owners take huge pride in their site. It is always clean, tidy and well kept. The area is beautiful, not far from wastwater (england’s deepest lake), west lakes adventure in eskdale can organise outdoor activities in the local area, the boot inn pub is not a far drive doing vegan, vegetarian food with good real ale. There’s also the bridge house which is a two minute walk from the site. There’s a lovely walk we do from the start of the site that takes you along the river and through the local woodland that loops back to the site (ask at reception for more details). There’s a lovely cafe round the corner (woodland’s tea room), and recently they’ve started doing alpaca trekking in the field next door. Highly recommend.
