Very good meal in pub last night. Thanks to new owner Paul and staff for letting us park our motorhome in the car carpark for free (with electric hookup) :). Very quiet apart from minor M40 noise in background

This Pub is open again, the couple now running it are brilliant. They close at 5 on Sunday. We arrived around 7 and they let us stay anyway in their large car park. Very peaceful night. Will return.

Although this pub isn’t taking campers at the moment we travelled further up the road and came across another lovely pub - The Ben Jonson. The owner let us stay in his car park for free. Very friendly and accommodating. Although we didn’t get a drink in the pub as they were closed preparing for a private function it looks a stunning pub.

I called the chequers to book a stay over, the lady said they could not offer any places to stay but were hoping to take motorhomes in the future .

17/4/24 nice level pub stop, safe and quiet. Phone ahead to book a table. Was bit pricey but nice food and welcoming atmosphere.

Great stopover on my way to Dover we had food and drink at the pub which was exceptional and could not fault it. The staff were more than welcoming the surrounding areas very pleasant inside and out.

Arrived on a Sunday so pub was closing at 5pm, managed a drink before closer. Friendly staff in the pub. Plenty of space in car park and field beside good for the dog, although boggy in patches.

we had travelled for many a mile over many months and needed a restful sleep and a place to eat. very friendly very helpful great food especially the fish and chips reasonable price lovely clean quiet car park you won't go wrong.

Excellent location with great access to the M40 and A34. Great food with some excellent specials, very good service and not too expensive. I would definitely stop here again and have no problem recommending it.

A nice car park opening up onto fields but expensive. The food choice is very basic - burgers, pies, grilled meat or fish & chips basically with no healthy options. 2 main courses and a couple of drinks cost us over £50, note they include service charges on the bill so your pie & chips is nearly £20..The location is good, the pub friendly but at this price you could stay on a fabulous campsite.

Geeigneter Zwischenstopp für Hundehalter, sind auch im Pub erlaubt, sehr freundliche Bedienung und gutes Essen.

Acogida inmejorable, entorno muy agradable (lo único es que la autopista no está lejos y se oye por la noche). Y la cena fantástica.

Fantastic stop over, toilets only accessible whilst the pub is open. Very friendly and welcoming staff, lots of room in the flat car park. Views and local walks very nice. Slight road noise from the A34 but OK. This is one of the better stay overs.

fantastic stop over the french owner, Louis and his dog called cat run a great place. This is defo a restaurant with a bar the food was amazing not cheap but what you save on a pitch fee spend on wonderful food. shout out to all his staff as well super friendly. This is not to be missed if your in this area. If I could give it 6 marks I would

What a fabulous place for a one night stopover. The friendliest staff, we rang on the way down from Lancashire- can we book in and stay on the car park? Yep. Great food? Yep - lots of it. Good beers? Yep. Thatched roof. A giant willow tree to sip beer under. Delightful.

Made very welcome on Saturday night, fabulous menu and plenty of space.

amazing pubstop. lovely owners. We stayed between Sunday to Wednesday midday and it was peaceful. we were the only camper until the Tuesday when several big motorhomes arrived however as long as you eat at the pub once they are happy for you to stay.

Charming country bar/restaurant. Friendly staff good food. Great stop off.

Good level car park, some road noise but not intrusive. Rang ahead to book a table, roast dinner was good. Right on the Oxfordshire footpath so lovely walks, field next to car park had deer on it this morning. I would visit again as location is good for breaking the journey from the North West to south coast

Great pub with great food and super friendly staff. Quiet park up with a little road noise from the A34 but nothing too bad. Lovely and flat though and nice and peaceful after the pub closes at half 10. Definitely recommend this as a handy stop off for the night!

Emailed requesting a table and permission to park overnight on a Thursday evening. Got a quick response confirming table and parking - plenty of space in car park, close to J9 or M40. Friendly staff, good looking menu at reasonable prices. Chose the two course special at a great price. Starter better than main but a great stopover.

Had a great night here. The team behind the bar are so helpful and friendly. Good food and a good range of beer, what more could you ask for? Toilets available while pub is open

Superb food in a lovely old pub. The young ladies behind the bar could not have been more welcoming or nicer. A gem of a find will definitely return when in the area. 10/10

Gutes Essen und den Stellplatz direkt neben dem Pub. Wir waren an einem Freitag gegen 16:30 angekommen. Hatten freie Platzwahl und wurden herzlich begrüßt. Im Laufe des Abends kamen noch 5 weitere Camper dazu. Alle hatten genug Platz und es hätten gut noch weitere 8 dahin gepasst. Das System mit Gastro und Camping geht gut auf.

Wunderbar für eine Nacht. Freundlicher Empfang, gutes Essen, wir hatten eine ruhige Nacht. Schöner Pub mit tollen Biergarten. Schöne Lage.

Stopped for lunch as we were transiting north on the A34. A great spot, easily accessible with plenty of space for our 7.4m Motorhome. Excellent food, large beer garden, clean toilets (Mrs says “fabulous”) and also nice inside.

Great place for a stop over. Large flat car park you can stay in for no charge as long as you eat & drink in the bar. Very nice, clean and modern pub. Good selection of food and drinks available. Excellent beer gardens. Close to A34 turn off but is set back far enough for traffic noise to not be a problem. Would use again if travelling through the area.

Maravillosa parada a pesar de no tener servicios.El aparcamiento muy plano y amplio, aunque es mejor llegar antes de la hora de la cena porque se acabó llenando de coches.El dueño del pub y el personal super atento y la comida muy rica.A pesar de tener cerca una carretera es bastante silenciosa y hemos dormido fenomenal.Lo recomendamos!!!!

Great stay,staff nice and friendly worth a stop over for the night

Great park up, we rung ahead to ensure we could stop over, get food and could not of been more welcomed. Had good vegan meal, ale, cider. Shared car park with one other van build. Very peaceful with view over fields. Pub itself is awesome, run by a family who obviously know what they are doing :)

Sehr freundlicher Wirt. Leckeres Essen. Parken für die Nacht nach dem Essen kein Problem. Verschiedene Biere vom Fass zur Auswahl.

Breakfast at The Milk Shed 10 min walk is a MUST if you stay here! Pub is ok we had meal and drinks. New chef and wax very busy. Staff were friendly. Bit of a wait for food but didn’t bother us. Quiet car park. No toilets when pub is closed.

This is a fantastic place to park up for the night there is no charge providing you have a meal it’s very quite plus the staff are very pleasant I totally enjoyed my stay there

Lovely park up. Nice pub. Lovely staff. Seems pretty popular. Well worth dropping in if you're looking for something in the area.

Stopped here in our camper van on Friday night on way to Devon, then on Monday night on way back. Friendly staff and food well tasty, staff welcomed us and both dogs with no hesitation. Makes a change to feel welcomed to a pet friendly pub. Will definitely use again.

We head here most years having driven from the Chunnel. It’s a great stop over, food is good but a little expensive, we had two main meals, 2 pints and a glass of wine, £50. No services but free to stay on the car park as long as you go in and buy food or drinks. Check their website because the opening hours are a bit odd.

This place is great and the food is spot on. Location is ideal just off the A34 can not recommend enough. the review of one star from someone due to these being closed is unfair it is published on there website and a board out front that they are closed on a Mon and Tue but give them a call they will still allow you to stay. but we should not alway expect for free they have to maintain the area

Gate was locked and the pub was closed at 6pm on a Tuesday so we left.

Very pleasant staff. Lovely cosy country pub atmosphere. Lovely menu caters for all including VEGAN/GLUTEN-FREE. Car park is relatively quiet considering how close to A34/M40.

Lovely meal, nice beer, very welcoming place. Lovely ambience inside and out. Nice garden area. Plenty of space in the car park, I am alongside 5 campervans and motorhomes. Bit noisy from the M40, but not too bad. Definitely a good overnight place.

11/08/21: perfect overnight stop. Enjoyed a meal and couple of ales in the pub. Great home cooked food, reasonably priced too. We rang ahead and ordered food as we arrived after kitchen closed Lovely staff. Large car park. Room for 10 MH's. Some road noise from M40/ A34 but ear plugs sorted it. Pub open from noon to 22.00. Gate closed overnight but not locked. Bin on site Highly recommended

Absolutely gorgeous building in beautiful surroundings. Very large car park next to fields we parked in the corner and went in to say hi. Steve the land lord and all their staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us. Felt very relaxed and had wonderful food and drinks. we will be back.

Lovely overnight stop. Proper old English pub with good food and beer. Free to stay if eating and drinking sounds fair. Great owners.

Lovely pub with great food and wine. Fabulous to be back on the road after so long in lockdown, so this was a real treat for us. Good size car park, nice and level, with very little noise (you can make out the hum of the motorway/A road nearby but it’s not intrusive) and they’re very happy for you to stay if you have a meal/drinks at the pub.

Great stop over and not far from A34. Quaint thatched pub! Great food, friendly service and quiet at night. Would recommend.

Stayed here last night, lovely thatched pub just off the motorway, food was excellent, service couldn’t fault, marquee with heating and lighting, dog friendly. Rang through first and was no problem, food finished at 8pm, but was told that if you was running late, just ring through and they will have a takeaway ready for you. Loved it here. Would come back. Excellent stopover. Great food in The Chequers. Field in front is part of a public footpath route and is very pleasant. Just ring ahead. Also do breakfast every day!!

Lovely pub . I rang first thing to check I was ok to park for the night and book a table for a evening meal . The pub was busy but all Covid guidelines were in place . The staff were very friendly and looked after me and my dog whilst waiting for my husband we was going mr after a 208 mile cycle . I knew the kitchen would have been closed by the time he arrived but the made him some dinner and kept it warm . Above and beyond . Definitely come again and a huge plus for me 2 miles from Bicester village ;-)

Fantastic dog friendly, thatched pub. You must call first to book in. They close between 3-6pm. Super friendly, excellent food, fab walk for the dog. Stayed for 2 nights. Free to park, just a case of buying a couple of drinks or a meal inside. Will definitely be stopping again.

We have stayed here 4 times now on the way to or back from the Chunnel. It’s best to call and let them know you are going to stay. They close at 3pm and reopen at 6pm. They are quite strict with the gates and locking up which is understandably due to undesirables nowadays. You are expected to buy a couple of drinks at least and the staff are really friendly. We always eat in the restaurant, it’s not the cheapest but the food is very good. The Seafarers Ale is highly recommended!. We will be back again in December 20.

Maybe ring up before parking. We parked at 3pm and were waiting for the pub to open at 6, intending to go in for a drink and ask if we'd be allowed to park. At 6.05 we had a note on our windscreen telling us to ask before leaving vehicles there - don't think they realised we were inside! Quiet night other than that. Expensive pub but alright for a 1 night stopover.

21Apr - sorry to say this was locked up for us at 9.30pm.. struggling to find somewhere this eve..

Make sure you ring before you turn up. We were so looking forward to another excellent dinner and breakfast with secure parking but when we arrived the pub was closed for 2 days and the carpark locked. Gratefully, thanks to park4night, we found an excellent NT carpark 33km away.

Lovely place to stop just off the M40 en route from the euro tunnel to home unfortunately for us they were closed this Sunday night after a busy holiday weekend and NYE tomorrow so we didn’t get our dinner in front of a roaring fire. We were however, still able to park overnight and we will be back when they are open as it looks like a beautiful thatched quintessential English Pub.

Calme, vert, sécurisé, par contre pub un peu cher, je trouve, personnel charmant, wc et petit déjeuner ouvert à 10h seulement

Nous y avons passé une nuit très agréable. Endroit sympa, parfait pour faire une pause sur notre route pour l’Ecosse. Il n’y a pas de service, mais le parking est gratuit et fermé la nuit. Nous avons juste consommé une bière dans cette magnifique petite chaumière.

Friendly to motorhomes. Good food available but you don't have to buy. A nice beer garden and surrounded by grass fields.

Arrived off the ferry from Bilbao not looking forward to long drive back to the north to be greeted at this lovely pub/ restaurant fabulous service and food and especially the real fire. Free overnight parking on large flat, clean, hard standing and floodlit... The owner even kindly filled our water container ! Highly recommend. Gave them a courtesy call and told no problem come along.

Very good place to stay overnight. Good with dogs and big carpark with gate which closes for night after 18th October only for night. Same like restaurant. Definitly go to this place!
