Not suitable and is meant for emergency vehicles. I live close by and for access to walks it is a busy road with no pavement or have to trespass on the farmer’s property. I recommend stopping further down towards Lydbrook to the lay-by opposite the factory with safe access to the river and village. If you do stop here please take rubbish with you unlike the white campervan that stayed 19/9/25.
Nice and quiet. Didn't spot any threats of treefall though we stayed on a still night with no wind. 30min walk to pub but road isn't very safe to walk along as cars come quite fast so I wouldn't walk anywhere from here after dark. Being on a bend in the road, this spot felt a bit vulnerable to being hit if a car was to lose control coming round the corner. Overall it was fine, I would use again.
really nice secluded spot, you won't be disturbed here and has internet too however there is a huge widow maker across the road leaning directly towards this layby and won't be long before it comes down so be warned
Wouldn't recommend from our experience here... couldn't position the van to be near level at all and there was a bag of rotting meat/sheep bits in the corner which filled the area with a pungent stench! (8th June 2024) Walks from here were nice but you have to walk on the road for a bit and it's busy in the day with people driving quick. The smell and slope was bad enough we ended up moving on :(
Not very level ground as it’s on quite a steep road, also very overgrown so wasn’t enough space for our van (we are quite large though!)
Great spot, tucked away but still near enough to civilisation. 10 minute walk down to the river wye through a pathway next to the lay-by. Possibility to share with other van-dwellers.
