(IV19) Tain - 2 Shore Road

Stayed here for 1 night, views are great, fab little cafe just up the road, tesco round the corner! Peaceful nights sleep, despite someone driving around and sounding their horn about 9pm (unhappy local or youngsters messing about maybe)

Stayed last night and the views were so good we came back for another night. Lots of cars coming and going through the evening but quiet after dark. 10 min walk up into town.

Ficamos 1 noite aqui, que paraíso, um lugar muito agradável, comporta vários motorhomes de todos os tamanhos. Não tem serviço, mas a paz e a vista são imperdíveis. A cidade pequena e muito fofa. Amamos.

big space would say 15-20 spaces , flat ground, friendly locals and campers, very quiet and beautiful sunrise. bins are there but no other service. had a peaceful night and morning there.

Parking gratuit avec beaucoup de places. Le lieu est entièrement plat pour dormir la nuit. Pour avoir de l'eau il y a les toilettes du Tesco situé à côté. La vue sur la mer est très belle. Inconvénients : il n'y a pas de service hormis des poubelles (qui debordaient à mon arrivée) et il y a un peu de bruit le matin dû à l'arrivée de voitures

Although there are no services, we really liked this spot. Had a quiet night.

Vue magnifique. Endroit à préserver . Les locaux viennent promener leurs chiens, important de leur laisser la place. À 15 mn à pied du centre village. Je recommande on a passé une très bonne nuit.

Unglaublich ruhig und tolle Aussicht. Wir kamen erst gegen 11 an, haben trotzdem genug Platz vorgefunden. Gerne wieder.

Super Ort direkt an der Küste.

Beautiful spot for a night. Fantastic view. A couple of rubbish bins. Watching the tide coming in and going out. Perfect. As other comments have said please leave plenty of room for local dog walkers etc. Support Tain District Trust with a donation to say thank you.

Nous avons passé une très bonne nuit. Lieu très fréquenté par les habitants du village jusqu’à 19h00 puis après le calme. Très bien et très belle vue sur la mer.

Vistas preciosas y poca afluencia. Los pocos coches que iban y venían muy respetuosos. Con gran zona verde para pasear e ir con perro. Zona muy tranquila y bastante nivelada.

Great spot for the anti-clockwise run of the NC500. Right on the front of the estuary, plenty of walks for us & the dog. Some occasional road noise from the locals, but soon quietened down, leaving only the sounds of the sea birds.

Great find on our NC500 trip (night number 2 for us). Quite flat with beautiful views of the loch and a nice walk along side. Play park for the kids on the field. Looks like a popular spot we were one of approx 8 other motorhomes. Bin available on site but full.

Great little stop on the NC500. A few nice walks and flat parking space with bins. Great view and nobody else was there this time of year. Only a few dog walkers in the morning.

love this stop over, had a council ranger visit us today with maps and info on where else to go. beautiful scenery beautiful town.

lovely spot overlooking the sea. great restaurant across the railway bridge in the old station building - platform 1864. also tesco which is handy for toilets. there are two portable toilets but not usable as I think left over from a local event and very full. plenty of bins around.

This a a lovely spot. Please leave room for locals between vans as they'll be away before you bed down and please don't overfill bins. Enjoy it but don't overstay. It is really a locals facility so please contribute by donation if you can. They are trying to re-invent The Picture House so every penny helps. Thnx

Large level tarmac car park, easy access, with lovely views over the water. Very quiet for us overnight even on a Friday. A few other vans but still plenty of space. Great walks around coast or into Tain. Leave space for lots of locals dog walking etc. Bins available . Great spot.

Wir für eine Nacht dort. Großer Park angrenzend. Mega Aussicht. Wenn man sich vernünftig hinstellt genug Platz für viele Camper und ausreichenden Platz für PKW's. In Örtchen sind es nur ein paar Minuten zu Fuß mi Restaurant, Cafés etc. Mega Aussicht. Die Tixies sollte man jedoch meiden.

Good for dogs, quiet after 9pm, we arrived just before 2pm, left early (6am), as lots of locals use the car park,17 campers been there, bit overcrowded(please keep safe distance recommended 4-6m away)!

Nice little car park! Perfect for overnight stay. There is toilets but would not recommend using them(if you need to go then I'd recommend hovering)

Un arrêt qui vaut le coup quand tout les camping sont remplis. une vue incroyable et un parking tranquille isolé de la route et du monde a l'écart d'un village typique.

Stopped off late in evening en route further north. There's 2 portaloos on site. Bins were full, but there. Large open space surrounding for dogs and kids to run around. Beautiful sunset over the Firth. Longer walks on paths and roads around the river and shore. Great spot.

Der Platz war zu 90% mit Campern gefüllt. Hinzu kam, dass sich einige quer stellten und dadurch mindestens 3 Parkplätze einnahmen. Ich habe mich fremd geschämt, als ich hörte, wie Einheimische sich beschwerten, dass es so nicht geht.? Ich würde mich nicht wundern, wenn dies Konsequenzen hätte. Fazit: besser nicht ansteuern!!

Grand parking plat face à la baie, il y a de la place. Beaucoup de promeneurs avec leur chien, pas de problème. Ne comptez pas sur les toilettes... Il y a 2 terrains de football juste à côté, pas de joueurs ce vendredi soir, mais...

Nice spot. Jolie endroit très calme la nuit quelques Motorhome , et des campeurs dans leur voiture. Trois toilettes complètement bouchées et très sales! Sinon spectacle de la mer qui au rythme des marées découvrant une grande partie de vase.

Nice view but very exposed to the weather. No facilities. In a public park, so lots of dog-walkers dawn till dusk. Boy racers can tend to come down in the evening but they don’t stay long. Can be smelly from the rotting seaweed at low tide, otherwise nice spot.

Beautiful spot overlooking the water. Got here at 6pm and there were only a couple of other campers. More arrived as it got later. Didn’t try the porter loos as the other reviews said that they were horrid.

Great stopover with lovely views. We had a very quiet night along with a couple of other overnighters. Nice walks around and a nice town too. Supermarkets all around. Recommend.

Great spot for motorhomes and campers for an overnight, lovely scenery and plenty of land to walk around. Port-a-loos are an absolute no go though, try flush them and you will be bringing through p** water. Right next to Tesco superstore, Lidl and Home Bargains, so great to restock any supplies needed for your trip.

Great free stop, the town is a bit quiet but are still some places to get a good meal. Great walk at low tide along the bay. I would give the portaloos a swerve though, not sure they’ve ever been serviced.

Lovely view on the sea, and nice and quiet. We weren’t expecting any services but there were actually three portaloos which were usable with toilet roll etc. The car park was quite busy with other campers but we had no problem finding a spot. Great option considering it’s free!

Een locatie "vrij camperen" in Scotland. Deze plaatsen maken het waard in Scotland te zijn. Zicht op zee, rustig. Geen service aanwezig en dus best met uitgeruste camper ( toilet...). Indien nodig is het dorp wel vlakbij met de nodige winkels, bars,...

Bel emplacement goudronné et face mer, sans service. C'est un lieu de promenade. Très proche du centre de la petite bourgade. Le restaurant à côté, dans les locaux de la gare , est agréable avec une bonne cuisine. Nous sommes restés 2 nuits. Bonne étape à recommander.

Nice quiet night and cracking sunrise. A short walk in to the historic town, although up a hill, where there are some very clean toilets.

Tain is a cute town, if you do go for a wander make sure you try the locally made Tain cheeses. Available in the Bannerman Seafoods Deli. The Brie is amazing!

Very large car park. Easy walk to restaurants and grocery store. Lots of people walking there dogs. Trash can close by. Quite at night. Right on the water.

A quiet night and a lovely place to park up. Unfortunately someone who left before us this morning left LOTS of rubbish which was blowing all over the car park towards the coast. This is really irresponsible and gives campers a bad name. He was silly enough to also fly tip his medication with his name on, so if I meet him on route I’ll be having a chat with him!

We were a bit worried after reading the comments about the boy racers but our night was thankfully quiet. It’s just your average car park, but it’s close to the amenities of town and it’s great if you have a dog. Easy accessible from A9.

Magnificent quiet place to stay for a night. Flat asphalt parking, bay view, sunset and sunrise over the water and mountains, sounds of birds, kms for dog walkers, tesco nearby with a toilet and petrol station.

Quiet carpark overlooking sea, stopped for the night. Near to tesco and a short walk from town.

Idealer Ort für eine kleine Pause

Asphaltierter ziemlich großer Platz neben einem Bolzplatz und einer großen Rasenfläche. Sehr schöner Blick übers Meer. Sonntag hatte der nächste Pub - Platform- ab 16:30 Uhr keine warme Küche mehr.

Precies zoals omschreven, rustige nacht gehad, inderdaad veel auto's. Geen overlast ervan. Heel dichtbij zit een restaurant, loop door het park richting zendmast. Daar kun je met een voetgangersbrug het spoor over. In het stationsgebouw zit een modern restaurant. Nog geen 5 minuten lopen.

great spot by the sea, no facilities but excellent walking opportunities for the dogs. a bit of antisocial driving from some locals but they kept out of the way and weren't around late.

this was a nice place which felt in the middle of nowhere but when we got there there were a lot of "boy racers" in the carpark revving and squealing. after about 10pm it was really nice and peaceful until the morning. it's a good space though, in front of the sea. no services but also a free carpark so overall a good night!

we didn't stop overnight- just a brief pause on our joruney- but seems perfect for an night's sleep!

Nice view across the Dornoch Firth

Big and flat parking, the only disadvantage was some cars from town coming there in the evening but it was quiet at night, nice beach for the walks

Schöner Ausblick, morgens und nachts sehr ruhig, am Abend ein paar Autos, die kurz auf dem dem Parkplatz, verweilten. Kaum Bäume, aber dafür ein idealer Ort für einen Spaziergang an der Küste.

Gut für einen Zwischenstopp, im Platform 18 konnten wir gut essen (abends Treffpunkt für viele Bewohner des Dorfes). Der Parkplatz ist etwas laut, weil dort viele Autos kurz halten

Großer, flacher Parkplatz. Außer uns standen 3 weitere Camper hier. Nichts besonderes, für eine Nacht absolut OK.

Excellent spot with great views and great walks. Just a short distance to Tesco for use of the toilets and a graveyard close by for fresh water.

Wir haben hier eine sehr ruhige Nacht verbracht und sind am Morgen in das Dorf spaziert. Gut für die Nacht geeignet oder um tagsüber das Dorf zu erkunden.

When we got there, there were obvious signs of car racers having been there. Didn't feel as safe as we wanted so moved on

Great spot, looking across a bay. Flat, hard surface. Walked across the grass, over the railway bridge into the town centre for fish and chips. Quiet night and after breakfast went for a lovely walk along the path, across the bridge around the bay.

perfect for a one night stop over. Nice and quiet and out the way of any main thoroughfare. beautiful view looking over the sea and easy waking distance to a nice pub (platform 1892) and into town.

Stayed for 1 night. Cut across to the train station which is now a swamky pub/restaurant called Platform 1864 for a drink. Was the only vehicle there overnight but drops a star due to the one boy racer that came in the evening trying to impress his "gal". Not the be all and end all but they are sooooo annoying ;)

Stayed last night 2 other vans, lots of room ,bins,lots of grass for walking the dog, fantastic sunset and sunrise. Nice and quiet.

Great parkup on a carpark just outside town, only 3 other van's last night, a few dog walkers this morning and beautiful views.

Ideal overnight. 1 other van alongside us. Great view. There is a great run/walk along the Dornoch firth from here. Cross the bridge about 400m to your right.

Gorgeous spot. We had a peaceful night with three other mohos. Amazing views across the Dornoch Firth. Nice walks along the shore and in to town. We will use this stopover again.

Good dog walks. Parked up for the night but the travellers are still in this area and became very loud and violent towards each other resulting in police arriving, due to the disruption we ended up moving at midnight to get a good nights sleep.

Lots of caravans now parked up so we didn’t stay. The car park is at the end of an industrial estate and didn’t feel too safe. Went on to a lovely wild spot in Dornoch.

Please be aware there is now a group of travellers who have settled here and have made the place very unwelcoming. They are loud and very messy. I’d be concerned to stay here incase locals thought we were also to blame for the issues.

Decent size car park by the sea, nice dog walks, short walk from the town centre and tesco, home bargains etc. Used a few times never had an issue,. There are a group of workmen possibly travellers on the other side of the grassed area but they were pleasant and kept themselves to themselves with there kids saying hello to ours, nice spot, no facilities but enough nearby

Quiet spot in a car park overlooking the sea. Big large field to use/run/play on.

Franchement pas mal pour un parking proche d'un centre bourg, calme malgré quelques voitures qui font demi-tour dans la soirée, le matin quelques promeneurs de chien. Nickel pour visiter la distillerie le matin !

Sehr schön, direkt am Wasser, sehr ruhig. Gut zum die nahegelegene Glenmorangie Destille zu besuchen.

Alles prima. Direkt am Meer in der Nähe des Fußballplatzes. Abends etwas laut durch Autos der Dorfjugend. Ansonsten gut. Mülltonnen vorhanden.

Beautiful spot for watching birds as the sea came across n and quite close to very pretty town centre.

Super schöner Platz mit Aussicht auf die See. Sehr zentral auch zu Tain. ein Ausflug wert bevor es weiter geht.
