(IV2 6TY) - General Wade's Military Road

Wir haben hier für eine Nacht gestanden. Ist ein schöner Ort und okay für eine Nacht auf dem Weg irgendwo hin. Man hat einen super Blick auf Loch Ness. Die Autos rasen aber an einem vorbei, sodass unser Dachzelt gewackelt hat. Und leider Midges ohne Ende. Aber trotzdem lohnenswert für eine Nacht.

Beautiful little park up we stayed here 3rd August.

Didn't sleep here but lovely for an afternoon stop for a few hours. Access to the water, picnic benches and a great view of the castle on the other side. No bins or other facilities.

Perfect spot for one night. Nice view for lake and easy access to „beach”. There are benches, good for breakfast. Beside midge it was perfect to start NC500

Aussicht super, Platz nicht ganz eben. Autos zwischen 22 und 6 Uhr kaum vorhanden. Aber sonst wird man ganz schön durchgerüttelt, da die Einheimischen mit 80-100 km/h einen Meter an einem vorbeidonnern.

Stayed 1 night here. Great space with benches and a path down to the beach. This is next to the road but it was quiet between 10pm-7am but then does get noisy with traffic but didn't bother us as it's to be expected in a lay by. Short drive to village where there was a coffee van.

you park on the road so loud with cars going past quite fast. we slept here as its not so close to the edge! beautiful views and nice little walk to the pebbles.

Great Park up, level ground, easy walk down to the lake, unfortunately it had rained a lot so there was a massive puddle in centre of parking spaces, thankfully we were able to park away from it as there were only 2 other vans, Phone signal great, cars do go past at quite a speed, but it was bearable. Did have 2 or 3 people sounding there horns as they went past, possibly unhappy locals

Level enough except for the middle of the parking space. We were 3 campervans and 2-3 cars tightly parked. It's a nice view point with close access to the rocky beach. Cars go by until night time (sometimes very fast), which rocked our van every time, but didn't brother our sleep much. It's not very nice to see toilet paper behind every other tree though - don't be like them!

Parked up here to make dinner and eat with a stunning view across the Loch. Decided not to stay overnight as quite popular and busy with other campers, plus felt quite exposed to the winds across the Loch. Beautiful park up with the views though.

there are many of this along this road, this is the only one we saw with picnic benches (there may be more) but a cracking spot here. get down on beach fine and hardly any traffic. may need one chock to level but otherwise really great!

pour un parking en bord de route, l'endroit est chouette et propre. table de pique nique et petite plage en contrebas. wc à 6 miles. le véhicule peut effectivement trembler lors de passage de voiture mais cela n'empêche pas de bien dormir. place pour environ 5-6 vans

We really enjoyed the incredible view of Loch Ness. In the evening is was quiet so even though on the road, it wasn’t too bad. It’s a popular spot during the day but at night we had it to ourselves.

A lovely spot overlooking the lake. The stars were stunning at night too! As it is road side the van does shake as cars go pass, but the road was pretty quiet at night.

This is a good space to stop with nice views of Loch Ness and some picnic benches.

Fuimos buscando sitio para dormir. El sitio es tranquilo y justo al lado del lago, nos gustó mucho. Tiene un caminito para bajar a la pequeña playa. Falta papelera y no hay servicios.

Super spot pour aller se baigner. Nous n'y avons pas passé la nuit et ne le recommanderions pas car les places de parking sont collées à la route et les voitures circulent très vite.

Een mooie plek bij een picknick plaats aan de rustige kant van Loch Ness. Het enige nadeel is de weg waar best hard gereden wordt. Hierdoor gaat je camper af en toe een beetje shaken. Zwemmen en wandelen mogelijk.

Parfait arrêt pour une pause goûter. Comme partout en août, il faut avoir de la chance pour avoir une place, mais si vous l’avez n’hésitez pas à rester un peu, ça vaut le coup.

Beautiful place. Right by the Loch with some picnic benches available. Lovely little trail next to the Loch and the possibility of swimming. The road is fast and does shake you a little at times. Road it quiet at night though.

Le lieu et la vue sont splendides ; en bord de route : peu de passages, mais véhicules rapides et font tanguer le véhicule. Attention aux enfants et aux animaux lors des sorties du véhicule.

Bon spot en bord de route sur les berges du mystérieux loch Ness, avec de la place et assez plat. une belle vue sur le lac, avec tables de pique nique et sentier pédestre. Route calme la nuit mais passante à partir de 7-8 am.

Great lay-by stop over next to a picnic area with direct access to the shores of the Loch. On quite a fast but not too busy road so although not too much traffic, when there was it would rock the van. Comfortably space for 4 Motorhomes.

We stayed here 28th April, only one other motor home over night, very quiet road after 8pm. We even managed to see Red Squirrels.

Noite calma e tranquila, apesar de passarem alguns carros durante a noite. Para nós não foi um problema. Pelo contrário, a vista é espetacular e dá para fazer um passeio pela costa.

Très dangereux. Les voitures roulent a toute allure et rasent l’emplacement situé en ras de route. Beau spot , tables de pic nique. Vue sur le chateau. Pas vu le monstre du Loch Ness !!

Don’t use the postcode in sat nav takes you to a complete different place down a narrow farm track just follow the map on here

Très jolie site mais d’une dangerosité énorme les voitures passent à une vitesse pas possible faire attention gamin et animaux .

Una de las mejoras noches gratuitas aunque sin servicios a las mismas orillas casi del lago Ness. La carretera es tranquila, no suelen pasar coches casi por la noche. Acceso a una pequeña playa con rocas con vistas increíbles del lago Ness. Mesas de zona picnic. Pasó un señor para informar sobre estas zonas gratuitas y medidas informativas. Noche del 03/09/22, caben 6 o 7 vehículos sólo. Super.

Nice area to park and the road is very quiet at night 3 other vans there all night as well nice walks and views of Loch Ness

toller Platz zum Übernachten. Nachts fahren keine Autos mehr. grosse Wiese mit Tischen, Gas BBQ war erlaubt, alles andere feuertechnische nicht, Brandgefahr. Vom Platz kommt man direkt einen kurzen, einfachen Weg zum See, der Weg führt auch weiter am Loch lang zu einer alten Hütte. Toller Platz für eine Übernachtung! Abends ein toller Sonnenuntergang, morgens alles im Nebel, der langsam weg ging.

Pretty spot with picnic benches with metal areas to use small disposable bbq’s on safely. No bins so take your rubbish. It’s next to the road which wasn’t an issue at night as hardly any cars passed, but from early in the morning quite a few passing cars - as someone else mentioned, it seemed like locals were speeding up as they passed. Also check your dog/s for ticks, our dog picked up 2 here.

Un petit spot assez sympa devant le Loch Ness avec table de pique-nique et bonne 4G. Les voitures passent mais elles ne gênent pas trop car personne la nuit. Pas de poubelles par contre.

Space for 5 caravans, picnic tables, small hiking route, two access to the the lake, quiet at night, beautiful views of the lake. PS: No clue about the monster…

We stayed overnight in April 2022 fine night. It’s right on Loch Ness couldn’t be closer! Its close to the road but very quiet overnight.

We stayed here overnight in early December. To be honest, it was late and we were desperate, else we wouldn't have stayed. The area is on a fast, narrow road which is surprisingly busy. The van rocked every time a car sped by. We moved on at first light. It's a pretty picnic spot but definitely not reccomended for overnight as in my opinion, it is not safe.

Lovely stop for the night,access down to the loch,only gripe is the locals seemingly speeding up to race by the van!!! shame...

Very busy and loud street. Beautiful view of Loch Ness, very practical Picknick area. Perfect for a short stay, not recommended overnight though.

Close to road so buffeting from passing traffic, lovely close views of Loch Ness across to Urquhart Castle, picnic tables and access to Loch if you want it

Lovely place. Good to overnight, but no trails to walk. Good for picnic or short stay.

Next to the road, so during the night you get the odd shake from fast flying cars/vans. Otherwise nice little spot with access to the lake and woodland trail. No bins so, take your rubbish with you.

Not a bad spot, although think the next one down away from Inverness looked better but already taken

Close to the road, but nice view of the lock, Also somewhere to walk the dogs.

Great stop for lunch or a relax. Not sure i would stop overnight as not much clearance between lay-by and road.

Great little place to stay right next to Loch. No facilities or bins and right on/ next to road. It was quiet after 7 pm with only a few cars going past but when they do a lot go fast!! Small picnic area and woodland walk. Probably could park 5 small vans or 4 motor homes.

Au top ! Nous avons mangé au bord de l eau, petit barbecue. Coucher de soleil, vue splendide sur le Loch Ness et le château. Baignade possible pour les plus téméraires (chaussons de canoë vivement recommandé !). Super spot !!!

Parfait pour voir le coucher du soleil. Endroit prisé cependant. Comme dit précédemment, la circulation fait mal au sommeil..

Parking en bord de route. Passage de voitures jusque minuit et dès 5h du matin. Mais y a pas grand chose de mieux avec vue sur le lac.
