Super endroit le long d'une route de gravier jusqu'au parking du point de vue. Nuit calme partagée avec 2 autres fourgonnettes et réveillé avec une vue magnifique ensoleillée

Great place along a gravel road to the viewpoint car park. Secluded circular carpark with pay machine (coins only). Says can also pay by RingGo but this is only for day time. Can also buy at machines at Kielder Castle with card and then come back.

Toller Ort entlang einer Schotterstraße zum Aussichtspunktparkplatz. Ruhige Nacht mit 2 anderen Vans geteilt und mit einer wunderschönen sonnigen Aussicht aufgewacht

Nice view but no facilities - no bin etc. Midges were unbearable. Dogs both got ticks-chance you take I guess. Peace ruined by campervan playing techno music all night. So selfish.

Had this to ourselves, reasonable rate and very nice views. about a 20minute walk down to the visitors centre with cafe shop and loos. Weather was wet and windy on the evening so had no issues with midges but when we woke up in the morning they were absolutely everywhere!

Great overnight stop. Currently I have it to myself on a Monday night. An uphill drive of 500 yards or so along a gravel track but it's well maintained and fine for a normal vehicle. A note on parking charges: the ticket machine at Elf Kirk continues to be £12 a night in coins for a 9am departure but if you buy a 24-hour ticket at Tower Knowe for £15 it covers overnight and the day too.

Good place to overnight, but don’t go when the midgies are out, May onwards, you’ll get swarmed. Coin operated machine or pay at the castle. Quiet place. Level.

Stayed here 29th Feb 2024. £12 for night didn’t have cash so paid in Castle car park next day (10mins away). Great view.

  • 4/5

Good spot. Stayed here last night. YOU NEED £12 CHANGE TO PAY FOR PARKING! Nice and quite with great views.

  • 1/5

19.2.24 sign in car park to say overnight parking temporarily suspended.

  • 4/5

Nice quiet night £5 per day £10 per night coins , well maintained footpaths down and around the water and dam well done Forestry commission

ticket machine out of action (still?) I drove to castle and paid £10 there, drove back past, had dinner at the pheasant (smashing dinner) beautiful spot to wake up to, very secluded and frosty at 8 am steep gravel drive to area, parking for 6 or 8 vans. no litter, beautiful view over the water at breakfast. no phone signal but no light pollution either highly recommend!

  • 3/5

Parking machine still out of action. Nobody came to collect cash. No intention going elsewhere to pay. 3 vans overnight. £30 income lost. No services but a nice level overnight stop. No data signal on EE or Vodafone.

  • 3/5

There is just two permitted overnight parking spots in this area and this is one of them (Castle is the other one.). Pay machine takes coins only. You pay 5£ for the day until 3pm and 10£ for overnight parking. The ticket for overnight parking can only be bought from 8pm on. There is no phone receiption.

3/5 Good spot but DO NOT underestimate the midges! 10pm exit didn’t even stay the night!

  • 5/5

Great spot, very quiet and a bargain at £10, have to pay at the visitor centre. Amazing spot for star gazing if it’s a clear night, there was a lot of midgies on the morning, but that’s expected in that sort of environment

  • 4/5

Decent spot. Nice and level gravel car park away from main road up the hill at the viewpoint. £10 a ticket as part of campervan scheme. Quiet uninterrupted nights sleep. Beware the midgies which are bad at all of Kielder right now! No phone signal on EE

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet spot. Great view. As you come up the gravel road there is space for one van alone on left and a couple at the top. Short walk less perhaps a mile along road to visitor centre (where overnight also permitted for £10) with cafe toilets and gift shop.

  • 4/5

Great quiet spot. Did expect the steep gravel winding path up so just be aware. currently ticket machine isn't working and told to go to castle at other end of the water to buy a ticket but no ranger came when I was there. road at the bottom has very little traffic so noise isn't a problem.

  • 4/5

Great spot. There's usually going to be other campers there in summer but we visited 3 weekends in a row during winter and were completely alone. Great views of Kielder Water and the stars on a clear night are out of this world. £10 fee but rarely checked. Tell them you're visiting the castle in the morning and plan to buy your ticket when you get there.

EATEN ALIVE BY MIDGE (JULY) 2AM EXIT

  • 3/5

You are allowed to stay here, but you need to purchase a ticket, £10 for the night at Kielder Castle Visitor Centre car park. Machine takes cash or card.

Hi The Kielder website explains current position on overnight parking here

  • 4/5

Nice location however you are supposed to pay now (see picture). We missed the sign and had one good night of sleep without trouble but I would not risk the fine. No cell coverage for me except when all the way on top of the viewpoint
