Now even more expensive. Up to 2 hours £5, every additional hour £2,20.

  • 1/5

£3.30 for the first two hours then £2 for every hour onwards. 24 hour ANPR camera monitored. Very expensive!

  • 2/5

Lovely trails through a nice wood with a view point and river running through the bottom of the valley. £2 per hour with working ANPR. The sign does state that you are charged from the second you enter so you risk being charged if you turn around and leave without paying!

  • 1/5

Avoid this or any car park run by initialparking as it is the biggest scam ever! It charges you from the second you enter till the second you leave and if that is not paid fully, you’ll get a penalty in a few days! Any appeals are rejected. If you wish to take it further, no option to pay ‘only the £60’. This company needs to be stopped. Once you enter, you’ll be charged even if you never parked!!

  • 2/5

Lovely place but expensive. £2.00 an hour every hour. Cheaper to stay at a camp site. ANPR works. Beware.

  • 4/5

The carpark is a great little spot, it’s quite close to the road. Plenty of space for a few motorhomes or campers, but the parking charges are a bit confusing and expensive. I paid the £27 but am waiting for some kind of fine to come through as the signage is unclear!

  • 1/5

Very confusing paying for parking- not sure if the system has recently changed. Could only pay up until midnight. £27 for 24 hours. 8 hours for £8 option was there in the morning, seems like an easy way to catch you out. Otherwise, nice quiet spot. UPDATE: received a £60 parking fine

  • 1/5

It seems that new management has taken over the car park. Daily cost is now £27 with ANPR

  • 4/5

Stayed here for a day and a night in our LWB van and had no issues. There were a couple of other vans with us there overnight. Such a beautiful forest to explore right next door!

  • 5/5

Nice park up, stayed on the far side of the road from the lake and there was 2 other vans there over night but loads of room. Toilets Ok for what they are. Will use again.

  • 4/5

Nice quiet spot off the road. Very busy with walkers in the morning as it’s the base of Loughrigg - a popular Wainwright. Toilets not reeeealy worth a mention as they are pretty grim!

  • 5/5

Lovely spot. Very safe and excellent value at just £8 for 24 hours. Definitely recommend.

  • 4/5

Very hand for campers/motorhomes. Central for walks to Grassmete and Rydal. Packed with cars during the day but only two overnighters. £8 payable by cash or card. Good camera recognition security system. Late access toilet block.

  • 5/5

Great location for walks, lake beaches and general activities. We stayed 2 nights, left our van there the whole time and only got charged £8. (Meant to be £8 per day I think) It’s privately owned so no risk of getting moved on. Gets very busy during day so arrive late or early.

  • 5/5

Quiet and feels safe. Can’t actually see the lake from the car park but that’s ok - car park is surrounded by trees. Nice toilets (open in Aug 2020) and lovely walks around here!

  • 4/5

Nice spot, came early to do a fell walk and stayed over. Just one other van, left in morning to not go over 24hr time, take cash for machine. Just off main road, could hear traffic but was far enough away to not be a bother. 1 mile walk into Grasmere for pub food.

  • 4/5

Great spot, the 8 hour charge is now £8. The white moss walks are lovely. Car park was quiet at night although we were unlucky to have a car near by playing crap music at 3am really loud. As it happens they crashed on their way out, what a shame. Anpr in action so payment is necessary, toilets are a nice touch though.

  • 5/5

Thought I’d use the app for our first wild camp experience. easy-to find, lots of space, beautiful short walk to Rydal water. £7 per night. Arrived 9pm left 11am. Really quiet at night, very busy in morning, will defo return

  • 4/5

Very peaceful and safe refuge in one of the worst storms we have camped out in- Feb 2020. Toilets are fine and £7 for the night even when we didn’t get away till 10.15am seemed reasonable.

  • 4/5

Stayed for one night as comments below number plate recognition plus £7 per night paid in either cash or card on leaving at the machine. A good night sleep could hear road but nothing major so slept well. Some small potholes but all ok and would definitely stay again.

  • 2/5

Pay per night £7, number plate recognition, very muddy , pots holes, undisturbed night, good location, 2 star for paying and lots of complaints about being sent a fine. Previous 2 comments look like they are attempting to boost business with this company that manages the site! otherwise ok next to lake

  • 5/5

We parked on the second car park on the right of the road. It can get busy during the day but it’s quiet at night.

  • 5/5

£7 per night via automatic machine. Accepts credit card or cash

  • 5/5

Simple car park with toilet (30m walk). Had a nice one night stay. Rained all night!

  • 4/5

Parked here overnight. £7 as advertised, some noise from the road but nothing that disturbed our sleep. No issues, and with toilets on site it was well worth it. Will use again.
