Parked here on our first night after arriving from Oban. Slight slope. Very quiet. Toilet is very clean but no hot water in toilet or washing up sink. Very close to beaches. Don’t mind paying £10 to keep it nice. Had breakfast in the cafe which was all good.

  • 2/5

Closest to toilet but nearby cattle grid lets you know when every car is passing at night. Active road even at 2am. There are two more similar sites further down (200 feet and 400 feet) that are better. This site is rough gravel on a slight slope. Ridiculous price for a shower. No dish washing allowed. We’re stayed at a lot of better community sites in the Outer Hebrides.

Lovely area all credit to the community for providing these spots. Don't park here as the cows have caused considerable damage to our van

  • 5/5

Beautiful view. Nice Clean Showers and toilets. Cafe next door served nice warm meals. We had two dogs with us, who loved the beaches. Parking spots were good and away from the wind. Nice stay.

  • 5/5

Parked right by the community hall. Room for 3 vans. Stunning beaches either side. Toilets open all night and payable showers. £10 in the honesty box.

  • 4/5

Great spot. £10 in the honesty box on the community hall and looking forward to breakfast bap in the morning. Lovely beach camp spots sheltered from the 46mph winds.

  • 3/5

Spent just 1 night….fairly sheltered from the 60mph south westerly winds. Unfortunately no hot water, no showers but the toilet was available and clean. However those on foot do use it as a shelter in bad weather.

  • 5/5

Great spot, limited space but hot shower available £1 for 2 mins. Clean and tidy Toilet block.

  • 4/5

As per my comment on nearby parking this is not free, its 10pounds. The community has had issues with campers mistreating the area by camping on dunes, releasing waste, setting up campsites, wrecking the machair etc.

  • 4/5

£10 donation for overnight parking in (6 locations leading up to and past the Vatersay community hall. £1 for 2 minute shower. Shower and toilet very clean and available 24 hours . PLEASE DO DONATE as all the money goes to the upkeep of the hall and they are also planning a stop beach erosion scheme ...

£10/night. No external facilities but water available (if ferried by watering can) from community centre. Showers £1/two minutes but both showers and toilet very clean. Excellent cafe open in the summer. Stunning walks all around.

  • 5/5

Level ground close to community hall. Right next to both beaches. Cows roam freely.

  • 5/5

Great spot to stay for the night. The cafe had closed for the season but toilets /showers/sink available 24 hrs. Very scenic spot with easy access to both stunning beaches with added bonus of cows to amuse. Happy to pay the £10 with money being used by for community projects.

£10 a night with a lovely guy collecting or honesty box. Showers and toilets really clean and little cafe also. Right next to two amazing beaches - we saw a dolphin in the bay on our stay here, really is a magical place!

  • 4/5

£10 per night is collected by local guy on arrival. Controlled parking means 3-5 vehicles max in each spot so shouldn't get over crowded, but you might miss out if you get in late. Very quiet. Single toilet and sink within walking distance. Showers £1 for 3 minutes. All really clean. Beach is stunning. Overall parking in Barra and Vatersay is very limited so worth it if you don't want stress!

  • 5/5

Two stunning beaches just 5 minutes walk from each other. When the sun is out it feels like you're in the Med. The local community have done an excellent job of providing really nice services, and making campers welcome. Please please make sure you pay into the honesty box. These facilities are great, and are cleand daily, so it's well worth the small fee.

  • 5/5

Stayed for three nights, excellent location and well worth the £5 which was collected by a member of the local community. The toilets and showers are thoroughly cleaned every evening. Need £1 for three minute shower, black waste disposal is available in Castlebay behind the Calmac ticket office

  • 4/5

There are now a whole host of additional designated overnight parking spaces allocated along the road from Barra. Not near the cafe but with great views. A local often comes round now and collects the ‘donation’ because when they did some research they found only 30% of people were leaving a donation.

  • 5/5

Stayed here for one night, excellent spot next to the Community Hall with a donation box, Beach either side of the road, amazing. 24/7 toilets and shower £1 for 3 mins. Spoke to a local who said vans are welcome for 1 night and tents for 3 nights.

  • 4/5

We stayed slightly further up the road where there are two lay-bys big enough for 3 motorhomes each. Great beaches.

  • 3/5

Lieu très bien mais beaucoup trop de monde. Nous nous sommes garés près de la digue mais les pêcheurs nous ont chassé. Finalement nous avons trouvé une petite place à 1 km avant ce site

  • 5/5

Fantastic spot surrounded by beautiful beaches. Shower, toilet, washing up facilities. Does get busy with other campervans... Best to get there early in the day.

  • 5/5

Accessible by narrow road with passing places. We arrived 10.30 am and had no trouble getting a spot for our 7.5m motorhome. Parking is mixed and sloping and by 12.00 was full with cars. Some vans had stayed overnight but left by 11.00am. Amazing beaches on both sides of road with plenty of walks in the area. Cafe opened 11am to 4pm in May 2019. Honesty box, £5 suggested for parking.
