Motorhome area in Diesdorf, a peaceful village at the western edge of the former GDR (near the one-time prohibited area of the Iron Curtain). The square lot is quite spacy, but electricity supply (max. 8 vehicles) is only available on one side of the square. It's not fully secluded (sometimes villagers cross the lot or, more often, walk the surrounding driveway) but you're not exposed and on show. Note: the toilets near the free camping area are not camping facilities — they're permanently closed! The pitches are on gravel and on an almost unnoticeable slope. In the village you'll find a nice market square and, except for a small super market, a butchery, a bakery (selling German baumkuchen as their specialty), a parlour with selfmade ice cream, a small, family-run fruit brandy / fruit wine distillery with factory sale, an open air museum of local history (including a terrace café) and an open-air pool with plenty of lawn, trees and space for children on its grounds. The surrounding landscape, the Altmark, is plain yet pretty and surely worth being discovered by foot or bike. Take your time to discover the place. It's not at all touristy, but a quiet corner of German backcountry. The toilets are not part of the camping service, therefore they're permanently locked.

Stellplatz im Ort Diesdorf (dem Hauptort der gleichnamigen 2000-Seelen-Gemeinde). Im Ort gelegen, aber nicht exponiert. Angenehme Mischung aus Privatheit und Öffentlichkeit. Alle Plätze sind auf Schotter u. minimal (kaum spürbar) abschüssig. Kleinsupermarkt, (Baumkuchen-)Bäckerei, Metzgerei, Eisdiele und regionale Spirituosenbrennerei mit Werksverkauf sind um die Ecke. Das Freibad ist empfehlenswert (3 €), dort befindet sich auch das Freilichtmuseum mit Café (auch mit Außenterrasse). Die umgebende Landschaft ist unaufgeregt schön mit ihren Feldern, Eichen, Wegen, Teichen ... Spaziergänge sind ratsam! Toiletten: stets geschlossen (gehören nicht zur Camping-Infrastruktur).
