Wat een 2 heerlijke avonden (2 weken tussen) hebben we hier gehad! Een aanrader om van te voren te reserveren als je van de Stena line Harwich komt. Echt heerlijk gegeten, was deze beide avonden leuke live muziek. Wat een gastvrije en super gezellige uitbaters❤️ Tot laat gezellig met ze geborreld. Fijne rustige nachten gehad.
Wir sind spontan und ohne Voranmeldung gekommen. Für Essen waren wir leider zu spät aber wir haben sehr gutes regionales Bier getrunken und bis spät abends mit Liz der Besitzerin geredet und Tipps für die weiterfahrt bekommen. Als Bezahlung hat ihr gereicht dass wir was bei ihr getrunken haben. Danach haben wir noch eine sehr angenehme Nacht auf dem Parkplatz verbracht. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Actually stopped outside the pub thinking this would be a great place to ask if I could park the night and then found it on this site .. lovely friendly landlady. Good sizes car park . Absolutely recommend for a stopover.
Super ruhiger Ort zum ūbernachten. Wir kamen leider nach der Essenszeit an, somit können wir dazu nichts sagen. Wir haben bei bestem Wetter draußen mit den netten Dorfbewohnern etwas getrunken. Pubbesitzerin und Mitarbeiter super freundlich:-) Gerne wieder. Daumen hoch.
Campervans and motorhomes are very welcome here, a great stop off before getting the ferry from Harwich. There were about 7 campers here, we rang ahead to book, that might not be necessary but a good idea if it's peak time. The owner Liz, an older lady is very friendly. We had a few drinks and ate food in the pub which was lovely and left the next morning for the ferry. Nice flat car park.
Der Pub liegt günstig für die Fähre nach Holland und man steht auf dem Parkplatz des Pub gerade, sicher und hat eine ruhige Nacht. Telefonisch anmelden ist besser. Der Pub wird von einer sehr netten älteren Dame betrieben. An unserem Tag war sie alleine. Deshalb lief alles, bei 7 Womos etwas schleppend. Nimmt man es mit etwas Humor und Gelassenheit ist alles ok. Essen frisch zubereitet und gut.
Another great overnight stay in a quiet village. Always made to feel very welcome in the pub. Car park is level. Toilet facilities when the pub is open.

Great welcome. Easy access to car-park with gravel hard standing. Very quiet overnight stopover away from busy roads. Well kept beer and good wholesome home-made food.
Sehr uriges Pub auf dem Weg von/ nach Harwich. Man hat das Gefühl bei Oma zu Besuch zu sein und so schmeckt auch alles was Lizzie auftischt. Sie und auch alle Gäste waren sehr freundlich und gaben uns viele Tips für unsere Weiterreise. Sehr zu empfehlen!
Eine sehr nette Gastgeberin und tolles Essen.Wir hatten eine sehr ruhige Nacht und sind ausgeruht in unseren Urlaub gestartet. Vorher reservieren da die Plätze schnell weg sind .
Schöne englische Kneipe mit leckerem hausgemachten Essen. Bestellungen werden bis 21 Uhr entgegengenommen. Sehr freundliche Gastgeberin. Perfekt für die 20 Minuten entfernte Harwich-Fähre. Der Platz ist schnell voll, also wer zuerst kommt malt zuerst :-)
Ottimo per dormire con il camper appena arrivati con il traghetto. Circa 15 minuti di viaggio. pub per una birra ok....mangiare discreto...nessun servizio di carico e scarico ecc...

Can't fault this place. 15 minutes drive from the ferry terminal. Delicious food and very friendly owners.
fijne plek voor als je van de boot komt of er de volgende dag vroeg naartoe gaan.vriendelijke eigenaar en lekkere biertjes in de pub. Geen toilet als de pub dicht is. verder weinig in de buurt. Je moet minstens 10 pond besteden in de pub om hier gratis te mogen staan. wij kwamen laat aan dus hebben hier niet gegeten.
Great UK tradition. Parking at pubs and 'paying' with some pints. We were there last week and stayed with 1 other camper van. Lizz is a great host! We were lucky with live music and great food for a reasonable price. During the night it was relative quiet. We had a good night and were only 15 minutes away from the Harwich Harbour.

Ruimte voor 5 à 6 campers op harde vlakke en ondergrond. Vriendelijke en behulpzame eigenaren. Vanaf de camperplek een leuk rondje te wandelen van 5 km, lekker om de benen te strekken na rijden/ ferry. Reserveren voor maaltijd is wel gewenst. Harwich terminal ongeveer 20 min rijden.
Super Standort für die Anfahrt oder Abfahrt auf die Fähre. Freundliche Besitzer, gute Getränkeauswahl und ein ruhiger Abend sind garantiert. Gegen kleinen Verzehr im Pub kostenloses übernachten möglich, super Sache

Great place to stop especially straight off the ferry. Cody homely pub with good beer and food. Popular with people off ferry do maybe worth booking in advance.
Tolle Inhaberin, leckerer Burger und so viele Geschichten und Tipps für die Reise, wie man hören will. Hier lernt man auch Einheimische kennen. Wir kommen gerne wieder, auch wenn es auf dem Parkplatz nachts keine Toilette gibt.
Leider darf man sich dort mit einem autarken Caravan nicht hinstellen, was ich absolut nicht nachvollziehen kann. Wo liegt der Unterschied zum Wohnmobil? An der Länge kann es wohl nicht liegen, schließlich lässt der Caravan sich abhängen. Von daher von uns keine Empfehlung.

Awesome little spot to pull up and stay the night before the ferry. We had great food and a warm welcome in the pub. Well priced food and drinks and a lovely car park in amongst trees and fields.
This is a great spot. Come and support a local business by buying a home cooked dinner and a pint whilst you stay. This will be truly appreciated by the hosts that's for sure.
I can only agree with the comments below. Nice selection of beers and food. Friendly publican. It's a great idea which you don't see often enough, especially these days where small pubs and village inns are struggling for passing trade. I'm biased anyway, because I've always loved this part of Essex. The rural villages, local history, coast etc. Thoroughly recommend it.
Top für die erste Übernachtung nach der Fährüberfahrt von Hoek van Holland nach Harwich. Einige Plätze auf dem Parkplatz des Pubs vorhanden, welche für die Übernachtung nach Besuch des Pubs genutzt werden dürfen. Sehr gutes Essen und absolut freundliche Besitzerin. Super Stimmung und ein guter Start in die englische Pubkultur. Wir kommen jederzeit gerne wieder!

Free parking (if you pop in to the pub) Nice host. Warm pub. 2 other campers here. We rang ahead but it wasn’t needed. Speaking to the landlady they do a quiz on a Thursday night. We would use again.
Perfect stop after arriving at Harwich port from Holland (20mins)..... Just ring the doorbell if the door is locked and Liz will come and open up for you.....such a friendly welcome and we would love to come back when next passing

Family with 2 kids under 10 years. Nice little quite pub, free night stay as long as u have a drink, food smelt lovely but we did not eat. fairly level parking fit our 25ft van in fine. No amenities.
Good spot. Plenty of room for a 25 foot motor home. We didn’t eat but the food has good reviews. Friendly and we would stay again.
Very scruffy. No sign of anybody 1800. Looked abandoned tents on the green opposite and dirty glasses on the tables. Altogether odd. Could be great. Reluctant to chance it here.

Brilliant place to stop. A warm welcome in the pub with very good food. The car park is flat and there is outdoor dining as well as indoor. Very accessible off the main routes. Highly recommended.

If your coming off the ferry from holland or vice versa and you need an overnight this is the place to stay.the welcome in the pub is second to none food excellent certainly not obligated to eat there but well worth it puddings are amazing.carpark spacious you could probably get 5 campers in but I doubt there will be more than a couple.beat park4night so far

Super accueil de Lizzie et William, des personnes adorables, le parking est spacieux pour les grands camping-car. Nous avons passé la soirée dans leur pub et avons passé un excellent moment en leur compagnie.
Liz The lovely owner of the pub is great, we didn't eat but the food she cooked looked really good but we had already eaten. We had a couple of drinks and a great crack, we were made to feel very welcome and would recommend this stopover.
