Good spot! a few other campers there, no noise from the road, hookup & grey water disposal available.

  • 5/5

Amazing place. Gets quite busy but so peaceful and definitely worth going up to the castle!

  • 5/5

just perfect for me and the dog. we need more places like this in uk. Drinking water, toilet and grey waste disposal, and a 2 night stay if you want for a donation of just £10. Well done to this community for sharing this beautiful place.

  • 4/5

Called in here on our way to Dumfries to check it out. Would like to give it 5 stars but it was very muddy and waterlogged due to the recent storms. However, great location and would imagine it's perfect during better weather. The availablity of fresh water and waste disposal is a big plus.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Level parking. Arrived late afternoon and there were 5 campers already there. Lovely spot, right next to the NNR and walking trails it had rained recently so the area was muddy. £10 donation. Lovely spot, would recommend.

  • 5/5

Great little park spent 2 nights and enjoyed the great walks and nature . 3 Nice laid out spots with benches but the rest is just ruff parking and can get water logged had about 10 vehicles the night we parked. Nice and quiet sleep. PREVIOUS comment is wrong this is from there website (Castle Corner offers litter disposal, drinking water tap, grey waste disposal, and chemical waste) disposal.

  • 4/5

NO CHEMICAL TOILET DISPOSAL, despite what some people have posted. Grey water can be disposed of via container, not through drain on ground. Busy and muddy when it rains, but otherwise nice little stopover.

  • 4/5

  • 4/5

It was quite busy and no toilet but it was quite quiet and nice

  • 4/5

schöner, ruhiger Platz mit Service. Spaziergang zum Castle möglich. Dreckiger Untergrund. Hoffentlich werden die freiwlligen Zshlungen such gemacht

  • 5/5

Parfait!

  • 4/5

Schöner und einfacher Platz, ruhig gelegen. Es stehen zwei Picknicktische zur Verfügung.

  • 3/5

The mud in the parking hides a good flat hard surface, apart from just at the entrance. The honesty box suggests £10 for a max of 2 nights, and most people do pay. People also make a donation just to fill and empty, then leave. Rightly popular.

  • 5/5

  • 4/5

Immer wieder

  • 5/5

Toller Platz im Wald, mit Frischwasser und Schwarzwasser Entleerung. Spende in die Ehrlichkeitsbox.

  • 5/5

    fajny parking,spokojna noc, service campera,polecam

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

Peaceful two nights. About 6 others overnight. Great value at £5/night. very muddy puddles though!

  • 5/5

Prima plek, heel rustige nacht. Tegen vergoeding (aanbevolen £10) in honesty box.

  • 5/5

Excellent, French type Aire. Water and CDP. Some shade. Please donate to keep this site going. Stayed in June and a couple of years ago. Walks from site. Thank you very much.

  • 5/5

een fijne rustige plek. Een donatie wordt op prijs gesteld

  • 5/5

Fantastic place was more than happy to donate for the up keep of a beautiful stop new fruit trees in place, bird feeders which we were happy to put food on, with a variety of birds feeding we just kept feeding them wonderful walks will definitely come back

  • 5/5

Great place to stop toilet/ grey disposal fresh water stayed last night been walking around here for 6 hours so staying tonight as well honesty box will come back on are way home

  • 5/5

  • 4/5

Comfortable, quiet and spacious site. Potable water tap. Grey water disposal. Nature reserve path to castle avoiding walking on road. Good for seven campervans. Honesty box with suggested price of 10 pounds. Castle is closed for long term maintenance. Cafe and wee museum still open. A little bit muddy in wet weather.

  • 5/5

Ein toller Stellplatz. Alles vorhanden, was wichtig wäre.

  • 4/5

Great location for having a nice walk with great views. About 5 vans overnight when we stayed. Drinking water and waste disposal available. Very quiet. Only downsides, it was very muddy and there were no bins available. Would stay again.

  • 5/5

Stayed for one night on the 2nd February. Three bays provided with picnic benches, but also room to tuck in. Left a donation of £5 via the website. Lovely idea by the local community to provide this service. Nice walk along the dunes

  • 5/5

I only used this to fill up water. Still open too but quite muddy. Hard ground though so you won’t get stuck, just dirty! I donated via the website. There were two other vans there.

  • 5/5

spent the night here with another two vans and one car. it was very windy but the trees kept us sheltered, bit noisy though. Black and grey water facility. make sure you put something in the honest box. there are 2 boxes, I put my money in the white box as it had a bigger lock.

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

Mittegroßer Platz für Max 10 Fahrzeuge. Wasser und Abfluss, privater Besitzer - Auf Spendenbasis. Angrenzend Wetlands mit Kühen und Vögelbeobachtungsorten. Zu empfehlen

  • 5/5

Posto meraviglioso, tranquillo e ben riparato. Carico e scarico acque. No elettricità. Castello nelle vicinanze e passeggiate nel bosco. Pagamento mediante cassetta dell’onestà.

  • 5/5

  • 4/5

Great place. Fresh water tap, grey and black water waste drain. Next to a quiet road. Hidden within trees. Fairly short walk to the castle. Depending on how busy it is a bit crowded. Can be wet and muddy.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Brilliant little stopping point for a night. Lovely walk to the castle.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Wow water tap, toilet emptying, nice and quiet. Donations box. What more could you want.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Stayed here for a night, was a little busy with a big group of vans arriving but everyone was really pleasant and we had plenty of space for our van. Was nice and quiet for the night. Easy to make a donation.

  • 2/5

Arrived, stunning, peaceful.then hordes of vans arrived, moving benches and parking within inches of our van.clearly no respect for personal space (or much else) Filled our water, donated via PayPal and left. will return when jubilee/holidays are over and HOPEFULLY get to enjoy it and change my review! I've suggested they introduce a 6 or 7 maximum parking spaces! use your heads people!

  • 5/5

A lovely secluded wooded site, stayed 1 night really peaceful. Nice walks to the castle and salt marshes, plenty of wildlife to see. As mentioned by everyone else donations keep the site going so please do. Can donate online via PayPal or bank transfer if you are worried about leaving cash in the honesty box. Would definitely return

  • 5/5

this is a beautiful spot nice walk and safe will return definitely was lovely listening to the birds singing away has bird tables

  • 5/5

Stayed here 2 nights on our way back to N’Ireland, early April 2022, pretty busy, great site, nice and level. Nice walk through the woods to the castle but quicker if you use the road, turn right on leaving the site and you’ll see the castle from the road over the fields to the right, we came back this way but be careful as there is a sharp bend and a hilly blind spot on parts of the road.

  • 4/5

called in here a few weeks ago fantastic place left a decent donation called in today our friends the travellers have found it .wonder how long the donation box will last..

  • 2/5

Just arrived to a sign saying the site is closed for the winter period and will reopen on the 1st March!

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

Very good overnight stop, quiet, walks, water and CDP. Donations please to keep this site for others.

  • 5/5

Lovely little place. All we need for a quiet night.

  • 5/5

Perfect place to stop for the night. Services (apart from bins) all available. Was really busy when we stayed (15 campers) but had a good nights sleep. Fab walk into the nature reserve and to the castle.

  • 5/5

Excellent spot in the woods can get 10 plus campers on and with views of the estuary. easy walk to the castle through the woods. following the satnav took me to Castle. don't turn into the Castle stay on the B725 and the parking is on the left a hidden left turn just before the car park easy to miss on left

  • 4/5

Very busy with roughly 8-10 vans. We went for a lovely walk through the woods to the old castle grounds, had a lovely picnic there and headed back. Lovely quiet stopover and if you stand outside the van late at night you can see lots of bats flying around the car park and nearby trees. Only reason for not rating 5* was the fact that there was no public toilet.

  • 5/5

We spent one night. Arrived quite late to find it pretty full - at least eight Motorhomes. One guy with a BBQ gave it a nice homely feel. We had a quiet night and felt very safe. Fairly level parking. Nice services provided by the community - appreciated. We left a donation. I would highly recommend.

  • 5/5

Excellent spot in the woods with views of the estuary just through the trees. easy walk to the castle through the woods.

  • 5/5

Lovely but path to castle is unsigned. Miss the turn and it becomes a two hour walk!

  • 4/5

Black Water disposal not currently available at today's date of post. Other than that... Fantastic.

  • 5/5

Closest I've seen in the UK to a French style Aire, provided by the community for visiting motorhomes. When we stayed there were 10 vans plus a pickup with a rooftop tentbox. Some were parked a little close together but there's a lot of space in the middle of the site which could take more if necessary. There's a nice path through to the castle grounds and along the coast towards the WWT centre.

  • 5/5

Arrived at 3.30 got the last space some big vans here so only 7 spaces great little sight ,no outstanding view from site but plenty over the Rd we paid 5.00 donation u can empty water and toilet and refill water thank you to the local community for keeping this going if u donate they will keep your journey going

  • 5/5

Great place to stay. Nice walks & picnic benches.

  • 5/5

Parked up here last week, great little spot for an overnighter. please leave donation for upkeep!

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet little camp site with water facilities, there is an honesty box at the entrance so please make sure to leave something. There is a little walk too. Would definitely stay again!

  • 5/5

Great spot, lovely coastal walks and to the castle.. arrived 1pm, already 4vans, and full up already by 2pm with loads of vans pulling in and turning around. Arrive early!

  • 5/5

Local community maintain this and the nearby site at Glencaple ( old harbour ). It costs them a lot to empty septic tank several times a year. So please leave a donation. Please respect the rules for both sites or lose them ! This message left by local motorhomer

  • 5/5

Lovely little site. Quite full when we arrived (11pm). Good facilities for emptying chemical loo, grey water and refilling fresh water. Nice walks nearby. Castle visitor centre opens pretty early where there are (flushing!) toilets and hot drinks / snacks for purchase at the gift shop. Can leave donation in cash in honesty box or follow link to donate online via PayPal.

  • 5/5

Lovely little overnight stop, water and waste available. Look for a sign that says campsite... If your at the car park with a height barrier you've gone past it. Lovely pathway to walk the dog. Make sure you leave a donation afore ye go. Good moblle coverage, and we picked up 140 TV channels... Bob on.

  • 5/5

Nice area with fresh water. Near the natural reserve!

  • 5/5

Second stay here filled water, empty loo, empty rubbish from van and left a donation in the box, fab place

  • 5/5

Wonderful place, space for 6-7 motorhomes if folk park considerately. Water, elsan and a rubbish bin. Quiet and right in the estuary with salt marshes and the wonderful wildlife that they bring. We've been here for 24 hours and watched 3 vans stay overnight and use all the services yet leave nothing in the donation box. Sigh...

  • 5/5

What's wonderful place to stop and "charge the batteries". Big thanks to the owners who decided to make it available. Make sure to visit the Caerlaverock Castle when there. 20 minutes walk and £6 entry. Unfortunately we were late but still worth walking around it.

  • 5/5

Great place! Parking for prob 8 vans, fresh water and drain for grey water, empty loo possible and bins and it’s free!! They ask for donation if you use it and 100% you need to, make sure places like this stay

  • 5/5

Flat site covered with oak trees, bays separated by grass verges, entrance has some pot holes which can be muddy. Fab place, very quiet.

  • 3/5

We got there round 4pm (mist entrance) when we drove in was bit muddy but ok in bays we were woken up with nuts fall off the trees and bang on the roof. Not a good place to stay at this time of year

  • 5/5

    Brilliant place to stop over.

  • 5/5

Level area among trees and alongside a quiet road. After rain the ground is a bit muddy but a marvellous facility. Lovely short walk to the castle and in winter you will see the geese.

  • 5/5

Only complaint we had were the midges but you can't help them. Haha. Great spot and lovely walking.

  • 5/5

    Good spot. good facilities.

  • 5/5

Great place to stop. Good walking. we stayed for the weekend was busy with motorhomes. Great for stargazing. Please put a donation in the honesty box

  • 5/5

Nice spot. 6 other campers when we were there. Very quiet. Make sure you leave a donation in the honesty box

  • 5/5

Good place to stop with walks but no views. Has a place to dump and fill with fresh water, please put a donation in the honesty box.

  • 5/5

A really nice quiet nights stop in an enclosed wooded area, though a little muddy. Signposted as a campsite, so we initially drove past it but turned around at the car park next door. 3 other vans when we stayed. Nice walk through the woods. Good fillup point for water, waste water and waste toilet, but for motorhomes you need a hose to empty your water or buckets up a small slope.

  • 5/5

Popular (9 last night), but great location and services. Don't forget to make your donation.

  • 5/5

Excellent small camperstop. 6 of us parked here tonight.

  • 4/5

Great spot for a night, good amenities. 10 vans on 30th, but lots of room so OK. Bit muddy in places. Nice walk or cycle from the site. Castle just up the road worth a look. Donation box, needs support to keep such a special place available!

  • 5/5

Stayed here on 28/8/20 brilliant site with loads of walks around it. drinking water and grey waste and chemical waste disposal, had a great night here.

  • 5/5

Beautiful spot - the postcode takes you to the castle but the area is 2 mins away. Waste disposal and water area was spotless- glad to see people keeping it that way- the walks are beautiful too! Just hope people donate to keep it going.

  • 5/5

Very quite, 7 more campers/ motor homes good place to walk the dogs we enjoyed it

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

    Now open again 4G ok

  • 5/5

Site open. Stayed here two nights (moved off in between) and both nights it was really pleasant. Busy both nights, with maybe 6-7 vans present but everybody was friendly and had a nice community feel with people chatting.

  • 1/5

Closed at present, so no update. the parking at Glencaple Quay is open for 5 vans.

  • 1/5

July 2020 and site padlocked closed unsure if due to covid or permanent as no visible signs. Car park next door has height barrier. There are some small laybys that might be possible to stay in near by

  • 5/5

Really great spot for any type of van, caravan or motor home. No charge for parking just an ho easy box for donations. There is a tap for drinking water. A wheelie bin. A waste disposal for toilets and a separate tap with hose pipe for cleaning. It was really flat and plenty of space of multiple vans The car park leads on to a really nice off road walk along the side of the estuary. It’s an ideal spot for dogs owners. Postcode works perfectly.

  • 4/5

Quiet night. Flat level pitches well maintained. Unfortunately toilet emptying facilities were out of order and signed as such.

  • 4/5

Peaceful spot. Short walk through the woods to the castle which is interesting and has a cafe and toilets. View through trees of Solway Firth and hills beyond. Ground is well maintained so no fear of getting stuck despite recent heavy rain.

  • 5/5

    Wundervolles Plätzchen!

  • 5/5

Nice peaceful spot toilets 3 mile away nice walks in the forest

  • 5/5

Lovely old CL site.. as signposted .. facility to drop grey and black waste.. and fill up with water.. please help support by using the HONESTY BOX.. was a bit disappointed to see people drive off and not donate after using the facilities.. lovely walk through the woods to the castle..

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Decent size carpark, with amenities , sheltered by tree's . Good views along the walks nearby.

  • 5/5

Stayed 16/8, was very full, ground was wet but that didn’t stop anyone camping. Lone female felt very safe. Great facilities and an honesty box for the upkeep. Great nights sleep

  • 5/5

  • 4/5

4 stars only because I've arrived after a heavy rain, and it was muddy and full of huge puddles. good for 7-8 camper vans if parked wisely. unfortunately, I wasn't lucky enough to get a parking space - my potential neighbours appeared to be not so good parking-wise. 6 vans have occupied the whole space. good bits:free of charge and waste water dump/fresh water refill.

  • 5/5

Great little spot with full water services. Busy but room for many vans. Lovely castle nearby.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Great spot, please donate if you can! there was at least 10 campers with us last night. Quiet. clean drinking water tap and black water dump... a rare thing to have in the UK! Castle to visit nearby. thank you!

  • 5/5

Great spot for a stop over Thanks... Water available. Grey waste disposal via a bucket down the grating at water point. Black waste disposal. as others have said not many of this type in the UK! Please leave a donation to keep it here.

  • 4/5

Some grassy spots with shade for those wishing to pitch a tent, access to water, tables near the bay and the seaside walk which is beautiful.

  • 5/5

Ein schöner Übernachtungsplatz mit Ver- und Entsorgung!!! Eine echte Seltenheit in Großbritannien. Achtung: Viele Zecken!!!

  • 4/5

Nice stopover with facilities. A real treat in UK.

  • 5/5

  • 4/5

Nice spot, quite busy with campers so it's better to come early to get a spot. Drinking water available, no toilets. 1 star less for the flies- we left early in the morning because we couldn't prepare breakfast.

  • 5/5

Stayed one night. Nice flat area with facilities only asking for a donation. About 10 meters to walk way that takes you to the castle. No midges seen at all.

  • 5/5

A recommander à 200%.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Worth an overnight stop. View from the start of the nature reserve is fantastic. Water and waste facilities, thank you Caeverlock estate much appreciated.

  • 5/5

Nice spot please leave a donation

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Really nice place next to a nature reserve. Useful information point. Quiet location, flat hard standing

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Good stopover could do with a little tidying up grass etc had a lovely walk in nature reserve

  • 3/5
