For a pitstop it's none too shabby with the canal view. The food truck guy I found lovely. In fairness he does pay for the spot from the council and has been here for 20 plus years so not unfair to ask you to move really. His food is great too!

Usually like it here but this morn got woken up by nasty rude food truck guy who leant on his horn for 5 mins to wake us up and blame us for a load of rubbish bags nearby that weren't ours. He arrives at 7am and gets annoyed if you're in 'his spot' (it's a PUBLIC layby) he has been agressive with us before and ruins a lovely spot. Happened multiple times now. Gets close to your van and shouts.

Stayed 5th November one night, 3 vans plenty of cars in lay-by, had a good nights sleep woken up once by a boy racer. We ate at the Ye olde inn no3 got talking and they said if eating in pub you are welcome to sleep in pub car park for free. Landlady been in charge for only 10 weeks. Very friendly and helpful.

Stayed here a few times in the past with no issues. Pulled up a few days ago around 10pm and within about 20 minutes 2 x very agitated guys from a canal boat nearby started ranting and raving about the vans and started trying to place 20kg gas canisters around my van. I jumped back in drivers seat and drove away, they were shouting and swearing and situation was clearly deteriorating. Beware!

Stayed here for one night, Great overnighter few more motorhomes and camper vans turned up.

The layby is a quiet spot by the canal, but the pub is now closed and up for sale and there is a couple of vans near the pub with generators and cars with flat tyres parked up.

Good sized lay-by separated from the road. Next to a canal & pub. Road noise is noticeable and light traffic can be heard all night.

ideal park-up, I used it as stopover before dropping my son off at Manchester Airport for a very early flight Terminal 1 is 15 minutes away! As others say, it is a layby, off the main road and used by truckers. But it is generally quiet and safe .

Great stopover. Close to the road but far enough away to not be buffeted by the traffic. Pub nearby and views of the canal.

Perfect little park up for what we wanted (a safe, quiet place to pull over and sleep). There are canal boats moored up alongside and it feels safe. There's a bit of road noise but it's not too loud. We slept well here.

We parked here as we were visiting NT Dunham Massey and is only 4miles away. It is a lay-by and does have lorries but it is safe and off the road.

Quiet location, ideal for Manchester airport pick up. Pub really friendly and close to water tap at the canal side.

  • 4/5

Easy access but can get busy. The water point needs a can or long hose. The pub is worth a visit.

Been there a couple of times. There is a water point on the tow path next to the canal in a small brick enclosure towards the pub.

Good big lay-by with grass verge between road. Next to a canal. Can be busy with lorries and a bit noisy from the road, but it does decrease later on. I did manage to get a good nights sleep.
