Car park next to Heywood Wood with no parking restrictions on signs. Forestry Commission land frequented by dog walkers but quiet otherwise. Relatively flat gravel car park off a narrow road which is steep in places. No problem for a camper van. Larger motorhomes might struggle. In the forest are the remains of a medieval fort.

Parken neben Heywood Wood ohne Parkbeschränkungen auf Schildern. Von Hundeausführern frequentiertes, sonst aber ruhiges Forstamtsgelände. Relativ ebener Schotterparkplatz an schmaler, teilweise steiler Straße. Kein Problem für ein Wohnmobil. Größere Wohnmobile könnten Probleme haben. Im Wald sind die Überreste einer mittelalterlichen Festung.

Lovely and quiet place, sufficient space and a lovely walk to the castle. Dog walkers come early and are friendly. O2 and Vodaphone has good service here.

This is a very special space. Quiet, peaceful, hard to get to but worth it. I am rating it low to keep it off the radars of people who may abuse it. Its a clean, off grid, forest clearing with beautiful walks and surroundings, full internet, owl calls and trees moving is all i can hear all night. Approach from the south if possible. Roads are a bit pitted, steep in places, and parking is ideal <6m

Great parkup! Beautiful walks and full signal on O2 and good signal on EE! Lots of dog walkers in the morning but no one minded us being there.

Beautiful spot! Very calm and quiet, in the middle of nature. Lots of dog walkers pulling up throughout the day but they were all friendly towards us. Road to get there is very narrow and bumpy, but doable by van (we have a jumper L2H2). Nice forest walk. Would recommend!

I have reported potholes on the road and I am a litter pick up and I am local to it aboud 6 miles away from it

Great park up. Dog walkers arrived early, but it was otherwise quiet and restful. Great spot to park and have a nice walk in the conifer wood. Road to get there a bit bumpy with pot holes, but safe enough.

Great spot! Had a really quiet night and a lovely walk the next morning. :)

Lovely quiet spot. Just me and a car camper at night. Few dog walkers in the morning but they were fine. No bother at all.. Would recommend coming from Eggeford way. It’s slightly rough but better than the miles of very narrow single track road the other way..

Out of the way and peaceful, Bumpy road on the way in something like 400 yards and a thin road not much room to move, Met some nice dog walker’s. Small car park good for small campers and no signs saying not to stay over night.

Miles off the main road with a long bumpy track with large pot holes in not suitable for large vans. No facilities at all so be respectful. Bombarded early morning with local dog walkers not looking so happy to see a camper parked up. No noise or rubbish left this is a historic sight please.

One of my favourite places. Giant redwood in the woods if you can find it ;)

Great spot. Very quiet. Stay one night Feb 2019. Few dog walkers. Very rough track. Bad enough in a panel van but don’t risk it with a coachbuilt. If don’t have water ingress before you certainly will once you get out. The track into the nearby Eggesford forest car park is even worse.

Wonderful at night, deserted and miles from roads. Come the morning packed with dog walker's cars. Don't be like us and take up more than one car space. You will not be popular. Quite a long single track potholed road to access.
