Café on site by the Abbey which is public access, home made soup and honey, with duck and chicken eggs when available. Lovely Adult only site, very quiet with hard stands and grass pitch’s. Site toilets and showers are excellent and always very clean. Fishing for salmon and other coarse fish in season with a rod license and a day ticket available from the on site shop. Exchange gas bottles by the security barriers.
Am Fuße einer alten Abtei. Wir können die Autobahn ein wenig hören, aber ohne die ruhige Nacht zu beeinträchtigen.

Camping magnifique, ils nous ont accueillis alors qu’ils étaient complet, nous avons eu une petite place où on a quand même pu avoir l’électricité. Le cadre est vraiment incroyable, le prix reste très correct au vue du cadre et des prestations. Le monsieur qui nous a accueillis dans la soirée était vraiment adorable !! Douches/sanitaires très propres
Beautiful location next to the abbey (free entry). Hard standing pitches in a grass field. Not perfectly level, but OK with chocks. Remember the codes they e mail you for site access and toilet / shower block access! Perfect location for a short drive to Newcastle or Durham.

Geweldig vriendelijk ontvangst, later in de middag aankomst, niet gereserveerd (wisten niet waar te boeken) en al veel plekken vol. Prachtige plek!
Superbe endroit, très calme. accueil super. blocs sanitaires parfaits. Environnement préservé et reposant. je recommande vivement.
Einer der schönsten Campingplätze die wir gesehen haben. Viel zu entdecken für diejenigen die Natur und Geschichte mögen. Hier sind Kinder nicht erlaubt,was für uns mal Entspannung bedeutet hat,da wir mit 2 Hunden reisen,die ständig angefasst und begutachtet werden. Herrlich. Nette Betreiberin tolle Anlage.
Der Platz mit der Abbey ist sehr schön angelegt. Trotzdem sollte man sich seinen Platz mit Bedacht auswählen, denn Stellplätze bei denen man ohne ausreichend hohe Keile auskommt sind in der Unterzahl. Sani-Einrichtung ist zweckmäßig und sauber. Wir fühlten uns auf dem Platz mit den freilaufenden Gänsen und Truthähnen sehr wohl und kommen gerne wieder.
Sehr schöner Platz. Die Klosterruine auf dem Gelände ist sehenswert. Durham ist von dort zu Fuß oder mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln schlecht zu erreichen. Bei den Crook Hall Gardens gibt es in Innenstadtnähe mehrere Parkplätze.
Sehr schöner Platz. Dicht an der Autobahn, jedoch weit zu fahren, da man über den Fluss muss. Nur 3 Sterne, da Adults Only!!! Wer mit Kindern kommt wird abgewiesen!!!!
Der beste Campingplatz überhaupt! Alles extrem sauber, duschen Toiletten mega gut. Unfassbare Location, liegt direkt an einem Fluss, mitten auf dem Gelände ist eine alte Kathedrale. Wahnsinn! Alles was man braucht, Wäsche waschen, Wasser auffüllen usw. Der beste Platz im ganz England! Wir sind mit 2 Personen und Hund hier. Für Spaziergang einfach perfekt, sowas von Hundefreundlich hier!
Super schöner Platz und alles Tip Top sauber. Wir standen hier schon eine Nacht auf dem Hinweg nach Schottland und relaxen hier nun auf dem Rückweg nochmal zwei Tage.

One night stop over in motor home to visit Durham, hard standing, nice site picnic area by river and a old abbey building to look at, parked in Durham by the university library, Durham not motor home friendly
We went there because of the good reviews,nothing pre-booked, but at the gates, after telling them that we are a family with 2 kids, they said we were not allowed to stay because we had the kids with us.
Planned on staying 1 night but ended up staying 4 nights. Superb and reasonable price. Beware the washing machine, allow at least 2 hours for the wash plus drying time. Very friendly staff and gorgeous location. Ideal stopover for fabulaous Durham, Seaham and brilliant Beamish museum.
Excellent site. Very clean toilet/shower block, with additional pot and pan cleaning facilities. Tranquil location by Abbey and river. Good price. Online check in, but staff in shop were very helpful and welcoming too. Electric hook up point very close to hard standing area for ease. Would definitely stay again.
Lovely site very clean toilets and showers. Abbey is on site free to view from 10AM. walks along the river. Have to vacate at 12AM. Shop and cafe.
Great site and lovely location. Contactless check in so did not meet anyone from the site. This was a one night stop over and the site was great. Good facilities and very relaxed .
Really recommend this site. Lovely staff who helped us after a grim journey and great facilities (incl. option of serviced or non-serviced pitches). Showers and bathrooms were spotless. Quiet night’s sleep and great to wake up with a view of the abbey.
Un superbe site. Très calme. La vue sur les ruines situées dans le camping est somptueuse. Attention mineur non accepté en raison des ruines de l'abbaye
