Arrived here in April 2024 fantastic spot very quiet at night no restrictions for overnight parking ,plenty parking could accommodate five or six motorhomes , van selling tea and coffee snacks from nine till four , plenty picnic benches and your right beside canal fantastic walk along side the canal for 5 miles , one of the best spots we found in a long time .

A good free stopover location so long as you abide by the 5pm to 9am rule. Shared with 2 others Fri night in Sept. Room for maybe 6 depending on how parked. Some noise from canal gates overflowing as there had been significant rain. Road is quiet at night. Great walking along canal or other paths.

Great place to spend the night. A 20 minutes walk along the side of the canal took us to the Cairnbaan hotel for an excellent meal.

  • 5/5

Emplacement parfait ! Nuit au calme avec seulement le bruit de l'eau du canal. Parking plat et assez large pour manoeuvrer.

  • 5/5

Cairnbaan was a great wee spot. Plenty room for a few campervans, was full after 7pm and people going further up the road as could not get in. We tried Crinan as could not get into Lochguilphead and were happy we went there. The pictures were amazing here as the Crinan Canal waters were reflecting the sky and trees. Plenty picnic tables to relax at. Take midgie nets as are evil little monsters

Campers and Motorhomes can only park between 5pm and 9am rest of time is for cars and workers. Good parking spot for a night. Nice and peaceful a little road noise but nothing that would keep you awake. Looses a star as no bins. Lovely walk down the loch and looking at the boats and Good amount of picnic benches.

Très calme, au bord de l’écluse. Très peu de passage la nuit malgré la proximité de la route.

  • 1/5

Not available at moment due to construction going on

  • 4/5

Wäre schön gewesen, aber momentan ist eine Baustelle - Achtung!

  • 5/5

Perfect for one night. Campers allowed 5pm to 9am. Only for cars over the day!

  • 5/5

    Great place, still free.

  • 4/5

Daytime parking not permitted for motorhome or campers, but overnights allowed from 5pm to 9am. Currently free. Wonderful views over the canal and lock. Handy for walks and cycling. No bins but toilet available 10 minutes walk away.

  • 3/5

Motorhome and Camper parking is now only permitted between the hours of 17:00 & 09:00. Currently overnight parking remains free but Scottish Canals plan to collect £10 per stay for which a receipt to display will be provided. A barrier and parking meter are planned to be installed at some point....it does feel like Scottish Canals have decided to cash in on popularity.

Fantastic spot. EE 4G is wobbly. Super quiet when I stayed.

  • 5/5

If you have a fully stocked Moho/campervan this is a great place to spend a few nights. Its on the main route to Crinan but the road isn't that busy & its lovely & quiet at night. The occasional boat goes through the locks which is great to watch. Lots of good cycling/walking routes. Before arriving here stock up at the Highland Garage in Lochgilphead, great shop & they have LPG gas & a water!

  • 5/5

Really nice park up by the canal and lock gates. Nice picnic benches and tables. Good 4G on O2. Children/dogs, big drops into the locks! No bins.

  • 5/5

Worth it for the sunset alone! road quiet got a great nights sleep...but why is there no bin?! took rubbish away with me but always amazes me they don't have them in a spot like this. nice options for dog walks in the morning. midge count very low/almost none!

  • 5/5

Agree with ingin69 comment below and would add limited phone signal on EE but is a beautiful location especially with the sunset directly down the canal!

  • 5/5

Ideal place to park up. Watch out for the midges. If you cross the canal and head to the left you will come across some buildings, opposite these towards the water, next to the lifering there is a tap so you'll need an aqauroll or other means of carrying the water back to your van.

Flat carpark next to canal lock. Four vans staying tonight. Flat park up. Quiet at night with little road noise. Excellent spot. Would stay again.

  • 5/5

Un superbe endroit, très calme dans un environnement serein. Possibilité de balade à pied ou à vélo sur le chemin de halage
