Perfect for a walk to Lake Coniston, very peaceful, paid via the app, £15 a night, shame the water wasn’t available. Competitive price in comparison to a BritStop as we didn’t have to buy dinner.

come here parked out and a woman come over yelling what do I think I'm doing then proceeded to tell me if she wanted campers here she could fill the field 3x over... I'd only just arrived like

  • 3/5

£15 to park overnight. Might as well just stay on a campsite for that price. Although it’s quiet and walking distance to the lake.

  • 4/5

A great stopover when school is closed but slightly confusing. We stayed 31/5. Honestly box wi' sign £3 for parking. We returned 1/6 & new signs had gone up with an app link 4 payment. All day parking £4.5 wi' honesty box in use. App said no overnight parking without prior arrangement & £15/night. We paid £4.50. If anyone else finds out what the actual situation is then it will be good to know

Excellent stop over. Easter weekend, so it was busy and the school caretaker was controlling the parking. She was friendly though, so as long as we paid and parked correctly everything was ok .

  • 5/5

stayed the night. was a good few campers and motor homes. put money In honesty box. perfect base for old man walk and plenty pubs and lovely chip shop. All locals we met at pub and village was lovely. stunning little village and will be back.

    pleace dast exist anymore

  • 5/5

Didn’t stay the night as plans changed but ideal spot to walk from Coniston.

  • 5/5

One of the best! Parked up in a quiet location with fabulous views. Two minute walk to the village and lake. Fish and chip shop, Indian and pubs right on your doorstep. Paid £10

  • 1/5

Arrived for a Friday night stay. Disappointed to find that the gates were locked and no way of parking. Maybe parking no longer allowed???

  • 5/5

Great little place… the money paid to stop here goes back to the school!! Very disappointed to see litter left over by disrespectful people… if we leave it clean it will be there longer for others to enjoy

  • 2/5

Unfortunately there was a sign saying no overnight parking - although there are still holidays in UK.

  • 5/5

lovely spot well recommend it ideal to walk old man coniston

  • 5/5

We had a peaceful nights sleep, parked on the level tarmac. £3/night paid into an honesty box. There’s a water tap on the side of the building on the playing field - we filled up our drinking water can and put a bit extra in the honesty box. There are public toilets next to the petrol garage that cost 30p (contactless card payment). Weak 3G/4G signal on EE/o2.

  • 5/5

Nice safe place to park for the night for £3. Short walk to shops, pubs and lake. 4 vans there when we stayed on Friday night. No toilets but 30p ones at the petrol station/Spar shop down the road.

  • 5/5

excellent. £3 .no frills no facilities on site. central village. The gates are not locked just closed overnight. drive to the 2nd gate along the lane and open / close yourself. lady attendant on hand during the morning of you need change.

  • 5/5

Very quiet, nice, safe place for stay on night. £3 pay box very great idea.

  • 5/5

superb place to stay, park on the grass in the day and then move on the playground for the night.

  • 5/5

Superb place, I left extra in the honesty box. If staying overnight stay on the tarmac not thr grass. I had phone service (Vodafone) and 4G but that wasnt great but still had Internet. Warden came around te next day just to make sure nobody was doing anything daft and to help guide cars into spaces as its a sunny bank holiday. She was very friendly and welcoming :)

  • 5/5

Great place, very quiet. Gates are closed (not locked) when you arrive but signs are clear for weekend and school holidays, so just open them and drive in. We left £5 as good to help the school and still a bargain.

  • 5/5

Parked here for a day on a Wainwright’s bagging mission. Perfectly flat and ideally positioned for the town and the fells. £3 for a days parking is class and when we next come and stay over we will defo be leaving more. Did a bit of litter picking round the school before we left because we wanted to help physically as well as leaving the money.

  • 5/5

What a fabulous spot! Level, spacious, close to the town centre and attractions - perfect. There is an honesty box and after chatting with the caretaker we learned that they do really appreciate a slightly more generous donation if overnighting, which is more than reasonable. The £3 donation is a day parking fee.

  • 5/5

You can stay on weekends and in school holidays. Flat, and lots of spaces. Make sure you park in the car park and not on the grass. Water fill up available from the side tap, be respectful and ask first. £3 for day/night, bargain! Public toilets 3 min walk away. The caretaker for the school volunteers to run this for some extra money for the school. Say thank you if you see her!

  • 5/5

Stayed here for 1 night on 25th August. Quiet little stay over, plenty of space. Gates shut at around 7pm but not locked so you can let yourself in. Couldn’t see a toilet but we arrived when it was dark, public toilets located adjacent to the Spar petrol station.

  • 5/5

Great place to park overnight , arrived yesterday around 2pm car park was full , came back at 5pm and was good to park . Only us and 2 other vans. Very quiet place and a good nights sleep. £3 in honesty box. Few places to eat but quite expensive. Good location only a short walk to the lakes.

  • 1/5

Arrived early (15:15) after a long drive. Nobody around outside and due to previous reviews saying gates closed later on decided to pay and take the dog for a walk as he was desperate. Arrived back to a woman who was very over the top and verbally aggressive saying we had abused the car park (we had paid). Was asked to leave without being able to give explanation.

  • 5/5

I think it was closed earlier in the year when the school was shut due to covid, but it's definitely open now. Get there before 5 though, as the nice lady who takes care of it comes round and will lock it up if nobody is there. Only 2 others there on a hot summer Weekend and only £3! Short easy stroll to the Lake. Recommended

  • 4/5

Open and welcoming. Ideal stop off - leave by 10am. OK for a night as no long stays. No facilities but that was fine. Dogs welcome but stay on lead. The lady on the gate was lovely. Donations welcome to stop on site. Short walk to the centre with nice pubs, local grocery shops and great scenery. Wish more places allowed you to stay for a donation...

Arrived 3pm Saturday, car park locked and empty

  • 1/5

Closed & locked empty at 5.30pm Saturday - caravan & camping site opposite full.

  • 5/5

Perfect place! We stayed 2 nights, nice and quiet :-) gate closes around 7 pm. £3 per night, bargain!

  • 5/5

Very peaceful as not near any roads. A great setting in Coniston, between the centre of village and lake. No facilities but a public toilet about 3 mins walk in Coniston. Gates are closed overnight but not locked (not while we were there anyway). Gets busy during day as it’s also used as a car park, but fairly quiet overnight.

  • 5/5

Spent two nights here enjoying the local hiking trails. Paid 3 pounds each night in the honesty box. Gate was locked around 7 pm and opened sometime around 8am. We were the only ones in the lot, felt very secure and incredible views. Great place!

  • 5/5

Super Parkplatz auch für die Nacht! Bei uns stand ein Schild „caravan rally camping not allowed“ hieß aber nach Rücksprache nur, dass man nicht auf deren Sportwiese parken darf - ist ja logisch :)

  • 5/5

Excellent place to stay, we spent two nights here and will definitely be back.

  • 5/5

    Great place to stay

  • 5/5

Great place to stay and not far to go to the village which has local fish and chips, traditional pizzas a few walkers pubs and even an Indian restaurant. Yes the toilets are near the site next to the petrol station which has a local shop

  • 5/5

Great place in near center of town, arrived when gates closed but there not locked and go between the school buildings to a large level tarmac park. There a fuel station and shop around the corner open till 10.
