What a beautiful spot. Very quiet and level if you park at the front. Lovely walking route behind park up and right next to the old castle.
Un bel endroit près du château de Loch Doon. Nous avons passé une belle nuit là-bas, il y avait beaucoup de monde mais surtout avec des gens le week-end. Il y a des poubelles dans le parking, merci de les utiliser, les feux ouverts ne sont pas autorisés.
A beautiful spot near Loch Doon Castle. Had a lovely night there, it was busy but mainly with people over the weekend. There are bins provided in the car park so please use them, open fires are not allowed.

RyanDummer10/08/2023Great place to stop over. Very quiet and peaceful with great views. Please note !! loch doon can no longer be accessed via carrick forest drive road. We went many miles down this single track road before coming across the blockade and needing to go back. Do not make our mistake !! you must access loch doon from the north on the road that passes loch doon campsite as it is the only open route.

Brill place to stay. spoke to shop owner and can stay anywhere round the loch no one moves you on. litter bins there. toilets in the cafe /shop. lovely views and very peaceful. no traffic at night. would recommend.

So picturesque and very quiet. Lovely drive down to the spot as well along the loch.
Tinmantone17/09/2022free spot in car park next to ruined castle,great view over Loch,no services but we didn't need,very quiet except when 3 boy racers arrived around 8pm but soon left,spent a peaceful night totally alone.

Lovely spot! Space for a few vans. So many beautiful birds to see. The nights sleep was very peaceful with little traffic on the road. One problem is the midges!!!! Bring something to deter them or they bite you alive. Other than that perfect little place to stay.

Very peaceful nights sleep. Stunning views across the loch. There were a lot of people wild camping, so parking spaces around the loch were limited, but it was a weekend. Weak signal on EE & o2.

Stopped here for two nights, walked in the hills and kayaked down the Loch to visit the Hurricane wreck. Couple of other vans, no issues, very quiet, very clean. No signal on Vodafone, but that doesn't bother me. Highly recommended, but I imagine it would be hellish here on a summer's weekend!

Obviously a well liked and used spot with locals. On a sunny weekend evening, plenty of people can be seen camping all along this road. On a nice day as it was when we were there, even the car park, which is mainly not that flat, car be very busy with day visitors are overnight campers. Take your rubbish with you. Two overflowing bins. GORGEOUS views. You can see why it's popular on a pretty day.

03/03/22 My favourite 1 night stopover since using this app! It is perfect. Fantastic view of the loch and Doon castle, great dog-walking on the trail across the road and didn’t see or hear anyone all night. 10/10 will deffo use again.

I stayed the night with no problems , are allowed open fires in the pits. Only negative is there is very little services but that’s made up for by the views.
Emilygrace115/11/2021Picked up nearly a full bin bag of litter from near the water, old cans and disposable bbqs!! Apart from that it's a beautiful place and so peaceful we decided to stay an extra night. Bins available so please use them
