Got here (to the pub lay-by recommended) at 1am after a late flight, Friday night and hardly any noise. Left at 7 and when we woke up it was silent apart from planes and trains. Really quiet road. Felt safe.

Literally a very small lay-by on the side of a road, we’ve driven off! There is however, a much bigger space to stay for the night further up the road and away from the canal, a much bigger space.

Decent little spot if you need to stay the night near the airport. Lay-by is quite uneven but you can find a level spot on it.

Thanks to Grahame we found the lay-by in front of the pub which is wide enough for Motorhomes. However talked to the Manager of the Three Horseshoes pub Craig and asked if we could stay in their car park if we had a meal there. Very happy so had a great meal and a quiet night away from the road which is quiet anyway.

This was a rather slopey lay-by with a very uneven surface, so we drove 200 yards further down the road, across the railway crossing and parked in the lay-by right outside the Three Horse Shoes pub (postcode CM22 7SE). A level surface, a lovely pub as were the staff. No restrictions. A bit of noise from the planes taking off from Stansted and from the trains, but a generally quiet night.
