It is a nice spot to spend the afternoon and night. It Is in the center of the village, and it is the “big parking” of for the museum area (3 museums), and historical city center. It is also in service to some local administration facilities has market, community hall, and others. If you don’t have a big van (under 6.5m) it is ok to park here. You have café spots, ice cream, and other services near. For the van, it has a great view over the Mountain of Serra da Estrela, and free water. We like it here. If you have a big van or in the need other services, shower, electricity, black water discharge, supermarket, washing clothes, or other, use the parking at the entrance of the town (it is also free). Very secure, the city of Belmonte, very clean, no problem. By the way Belmonte is know to the the most old Jewish community in Portugal.

We stayed here rather than the official aire at the bottom of the town. No facilities and probably only the first three spaces could be used. Be careful not to block the bus parking spaces. Very close to the town and spectacular views.
