Great free car park, was almost empty, one boy racer did come in for a flying visit around 9pm but soon left, plenty of places to eat and drink nearby literally within minutes of walking, the canal need a clean up but still had an enjoyable walk along it.

sehr gut zum übernachten. Polizei kam irgendwann vorbei und sprach mit den jungen Rennfahrern - wir hatten eine ruhige Nacht

We stayed for a night here. We took a walk along the canal to Powysland Museum and library, it’s a lovely free museum well worth a visit. We also stopped in at the play park. Apart from the annoying boy racers skipping round us we managed to have an ok night sleep, I’d recommend parking tucked away in the corner. Iv added an updated pic of parking charges as they have gone up. Loos closed.

Had a lovely, peaceful night here after spending the afternoon walking around Powys Castle and along the canal towpath. There was a terrible smell on the far right hand corner (I hope it was cattle) but everywhere else was fine. We had three other vans for company and a really good nights kip.

Stayed here as we miss our trips to Welshpool and fancied getting our final night stop over for this year. Powis council are fantastic for allowing one night in seven on most of their council run car parks hoping that such practices could be taken into consideration by other Counties around the whole of the UK.Had no issue with noise even with a large lorry parking up behind us, quiet night.

Second time staying here. This time on a Saturday night. Very loud music from the pub until about 03:00. Youngsters driving in, out and around with customised cars high revving and popping exhausts for another half hour or so. The Police seemed to be trying their best to control bother in the street and the youngsters in the car park. One of us slept through, the other was awake all night.

Stayed last night, normally I think it would be a really quiet night, unfortunately for us there was a party at the scout hut, then an after party in a flat overlooking the car park. No hassle from anyone though, so definitely safe enough. We were unlucky, so don’t let our experience put you off. Great place to stop to break up a long journey from South Wales back home .

Stayed one night- the quietest you could imagine! No noise, no bother from anyone. Perfect spot for a free night!

Good place to stop. Nice town and Powis Castle is definitely worth a visit. Large carpark. Easy to park. Toilets still closed. Some noise in carpark but quiet overnight. The Angel pub is very welcoming and friendly. Would stay again.

My first Powys cp stop but won’t be the last! Initially nervous but we had a fabulous quiet sleep with no disturbance from anyone. 3 other mh stayed and 1 very considerate lorry. Friendly locals and a great chip shop 2mins away. Thank you Powys for allowing this!!

Great place to stop. Some noise from lorry’s going out early but not an issue. Well done Wales for allowing Motorhome to stop for free 6pm-8am. Filled up with fuel at local garage on way out of town

Nice large car park but all slightly sloping. Very quiet night and a good location for Welshpool shops etc. Toilets were closed but Morrisons 250m away. 13/01/22

Stayed 1 night payed from when we arrived then its free after six till 8 in the morn some1 said the parking attendant dosent work on a sunday but i was up so got 4 hours nice town and lovely Indian restaurant round corner spice uk

The no overnight is for Lorrys only. no weight limit for motorhomes/campervans. we had a very quite night only 1 over van, lots of spaces. a beautiful walk along canal by Morrison's.

  • 3/5

It's looks a bit uninviting on arrival as its a very large car-park on the side of a hill. However you soon notice that there are some flat more secluded spaces in the corners. Charges are as others have said, but you can "pay-on". So if you arrive after 6pm when it becomes free for <3T, if you pay £2 then it adds 2 hours to when the free time stops at 8am. 2 min walk into the town.

Stopped as it was getting dark and i didn't fancy driving the welsh roads in my own at night. Had no issues. Quiet car park, toilets open in the day. I paid 3.20 for 24 hours so I could have a walk around the town in the morning.

All comments above are accurate. Has toilets on site open daytime only (from 9am). I added a photo of prices. Dec2018.

Large car park with some level areas. Lovely town with canal. Youngsters arrived at night to party with music in cars. As they didn't invite us we moved on!
