Stayed here 3/1/23 as part of the winter trial. Just us here. Very quiet and very dark. Super scheme

  • 4/5

Great spot especially if you're into mountainbiking or forest walks. Lovely forest walk into Dalbeattie town. Crazy to say space for 8-10 vans/mohos. The place is used by many others from early on and groups ride bikes here at night too. We can't block out these by creating a camper site as we'll soon be prohibited. PLEASE use this space sensibly and respect other users too.

Stay the Night running April to September, now £7 per night in 2023 and payable on RingGo. This is a great place, toilets and cold water both available.

  • 3/5

Stay the night scheme now ended; overnight stays no longer permitted.

  • 5/5

Lots of space, great forest walks, and the most amazing food a few steps away at a wee cafe

  • 5/5

Great spot, fairly busy but plenty of space. good trails for cycling and walking.

  • 5/5

arrived 6.30 pm Saturday night. didn't see a soul until 9am Sunday. toilets open 24/7 and water point. disabled toilet had baby changing facilities. lovely walks and amazing mountain bike trails. benches. stay at part of stay the night Scotland forestry scheme. £6 from 6pm to 10am. vehicles must be self contained. no awnings allowed. quiet and good for one night.

Forest carpark toilets clean and well maintained you can walk or cycle here, local chickens verbal £6 per night cash payment only.

  • 5/5

Great stop over very quiet plenty of parking and access to bike trails highly recommend. Easy access with toilet facilities and outside tap.

  • 5/5

Great place to stay toilet block clean and open bc 24hrs. Great walks especially for dogs and 7 stanes bile trails

  • 5/5

Stopped here for 2 hours just to fill up water tank and getting some drinking water. great spot to stop. not busy, plenty of flat areas and clean toilets. Would stop here overnight if needed. only downside is that they only take COINS.

  • 5/5

Great for biking. You need to purchase 2 day tickets after 6pm, you need 2 x £3 in coins for the overnight parking plus change for any day parking whilst enjoying the forest. Toilets clean with running water.

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet, clean safe spot for a night. It's a shame the machine is cash only however you buy 2 X £3 tickets to stay overnight. Toilets clean and there was a Forestry employee litter picking at 9.45am. Great for children as you are surrounded by woodland so easy to keep the children occupied whilst setting up/making tea. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely spot. pay and displa- cash only. toilets open and clean. water tap to refill. mainly mountain bikers here

  • 4/5

Nice peaceful night mid-week. 4/5 vans present. Overnight scheme still running for £6. Was very handy as had to be in Dumfries the following morning. Surprisingly, not a single midgie, despite the undergrowth and nearby pond!

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet spot we qere the only ones here at 10pm toilets clean very peacefull odd car goes past felt safe will return in the future

  • 5/5

I loved this spot. shame they still need cash for the machine as when I was there no one had enough coins.....do it by app and they would make more money! felt safe and toilets pretty clean. nice that you could find a secluded bit but was there earlier in month might be busier in summer also midge count was fairly low especially for woods so that's another plus!

Great 4 biking. Like all 7 Stanes - need a day ticket (£3 10am-6pm) overnight ticketS (2x £3 6pm-10 am in addition to your day ticket) then ANOTHER day ticket (£3) if you stay after 10am next day. Tot=£12. No approved facilities but there's a few water taps AND a loose cover over the septic tank that serves the loos (only put chemical waste with the GREEN ECO-FRIENDLY stamp NOT blue stuff)

  • 5/5

Great place but irritating you have to pay with coins - we didnt have enough but chances it anyway. Lots of vans here!

  • 3/5

Now need double day ticket ie £6 for overnight stay. Lovely place and still a good price but didn’t have £6 in loose change so what do you do?

  • 5/5

Superb spot, beautiful and quiet. Lots of level places in the shade of the trees. would easily take a dozen vans.

  • 5/5

£3 day ticket allows overnight parking. Popular spot 10 campervans plenty of space. Toilets open 24 hrs

  • 5/5

Stayed here Thursday night pay and display think it was £5 for the night. Few other campers there but quiet. lovely little spot in the forest Baby loved it. Definitely go back if they continue the overnight scheme xx

Stayed Saturday 12th September 20. Very quite location, woke to a view of cows in the field next to me, surrounded by trees and beautiful scenery. Easy access to lovely walks (took a while to figure where it starts). Didn’t use the toilet block but I believe they don’t shut although on the Forestry website it says there’s no facilities. The bike wash is a hosepipe (perfect for rinsing down a mucky Labrador). It was free to overnight, £3 charge for all day car parking. Definitely use again and hope they continue with the Stay the Night scheme into next year

  • 4/5

Spot is in a car park in the woods. There's a toilet block which we didn't use and a tap to fill up with water however I think this is for washing bikes. Car park is unlevel rough ground in weird pod sections separated by trees. Very quiet at night, great for an overnight spot while it lasts. we took a bag of rubbish that wasn't ours, keep it clean guys!

  • 5/5

Free to park overnight, but sign says they may charge £5 per night in the future. Lovely and quiet. We were 1 of 6 campers, but lots of space. Toilets very clean, and tap with long hose to fill up water tanks.

  • 4/5

Spent a quiet night here. Plenty of parking for several motorhomes. Far enough off the road so you wouldn’t know it was there. Toilets open all night as far as we know.
