Visited here for a weekend in Chester perfect location, on a slight slope if you are over 3.5 ton you need to get a ticket from the top ticket dispenser, we were in a 7.5mtr parked over two bays from Friday at 2:30pm until Sunday 12 midday cost £27, do not park in the coach parking or you will get a ticket, traffic warden was out on the Saturday afternoon giving tickets to vehicles parked in the coach parking and also vehicles not parked correctly within the white lines.

  • 5/5

Did you know you can stay for £5. Been coming here for years now and for some reason I always lose my ticket. I get the large vehicle ticket anyway just in case. Stay for as long as you want then press the lost ticket button. £5. That is it. Nice disabled toilet as well. My cassette fits in large rucksack so no need to fret about where to get rid of black.

  • 5/5

Perfect for Chester cheap and quiet and loo in the visitors place

  • 5/5

Great location, I arrived late afternoon so there was plenty of spaces. I'm parked next to the river and the racecourse is a short walk under the bridge. Great for walking the dog. I never noticed the traffic noise, as it isn't free you don't get the car groups coming in.

  • 4/5

Excellent for visiting Chester. We arrived on Thurs 11.40 still a fair number of end to end double spaces. Left 09.45 on Sat. Cost £10 for days and £5 for nights. £30 total. OK with us for location only 5 minutes from city centre. A noticeable amount of road noise from road above. Side slope on most of car park. I had trouble with payment machine by café but no trouble with those by exit.

  • 3/5

Stayed here twice now and have no idea how the pricing works. Was charged £21 from 4pm friday to sunday 12pm. Should be £8 for 24 hours so go figure. Traffic wardens are out in force so make sure you park in the lines. Great location to see chester town centre and good for walking back from the bars. Chester race course grounds is open to the public and dog friendly too.

  • 5/5

nice and quiet considering location. lots of other motorhomes the night we stayed. just be careful which ticket you take on entry. use the lower machine as the higher one is for coaches and costs more. would stay again if going into Chester.

  • 5/5

Great location, but charge is £5 for the night for a larger van. Very peaceful, will return.

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

Parking attendant confirmed that you have to be wholly within the lines of a parking space to stay here regardless of which ticket you get. Around the edge of the carpark by the river are 6 large spaces which you can fit a motorhome or large van conversion (Relay L4 fitted fine) and 2 slightly smaller. If you're parked in there you're safe and if not then park at your own risk. Lovely stay!

  • 4/5

The charges are now £1.50 per night and £8.50 ish per day, if you arrive at 5.55 they will charge half a day, think it’s £5.00 also traffic wardens are there ticketing any vehicle that doesn’t fit in the parking spaces even by the walkways or if you go over one of the concrete triangles.

  • 5/5

Good car park for the day and night. Generally, there are other vans parked together, so a bit more security in numbers. Only thing is don't park in the Coach bays as most wardens give you a ticket. You need to take a bus ticket if you can't fit into a single bay, then park using two end to end spaces. Cafe is good for snacks and the toilets when they are open.

  • 5/5

Great car park. Loads of spaces for cars, vans and coaches. Cafe and toilets on the car park but only open in the daytime. 5 mins walk from city centre, next to the races. £1.50 cars until 10am from 18:30 and £5 for buses and large vans.

  • 5/5

We stayed here for one night. Plenty space and felt really safe to stay overnight. Chester is a very beautiful town and at walking distance from te carpark. It is also very nice to cycle along the River Dee. We couldn’t stay longer, otherwise we’ve done it.

  • 4/5

Brilliant stopover to visit Chester, quiet, toilets available throughout day, charges £1.50 after 6 pm before 7am otherwise £5 for 12 hour day charge

  • 4/5

Great spot for a night if you want to visit Chester. Bays are big and plenty. Saturday night on a bank holiday, about 20+ vans but loads of space. Couple of bays by the walking path which are nice and level too. Quiet at night, starts to fill up with cars in the morning. We arrived before 6 and left around midday the next day and paid £13.

  • 4/5

Really good place to get settled for town. so close 5 minutes to centre and view of the wall from carpark. In summer even weekdays are busy so time it well. A Monday morning was getting full by 11am. Have been a couple of times and would deffo go back again.

  • 4/5

DO NOT park in the coach bays you will get a ticket. If over 6m and 3.5 tonne take ticket from top machine and straddle 2 car bays

  • 4/5

Great spot, walking distance to the city. Set below the wall with a small cafe on site. Pay on exit not arrival!

  • 4/5

Pàrquing en el centro de Chester, ideal para visitar el centro.

  • 4/5

All people said here, and much more. For all the places I've been sleeping in the car, this one is the best one ever. Clear spot, no kids running cars, no noise, friendly location and... I'm the heart of Chester. Thanks all.

  • 4/5

We stayed here for one night for a day/evening in Chester which is only a short walk away. Plenty of other vans doing the same. Quiet and no issues at all. We felt safe leaving the van and had a good day out in Chester. Its a shame the cafe isn't open til 10am at weekends. would use again. parking charges not unreasonable

  • 4/5

Very convenient for centre of Chester right on the river. Not level and gets busy. Cost us £13 for about 18 hours in a regular space.

  • 5/5

We stayed here in our Campervan from Saturday morning until Sunday afternoon and we got our ticket from the higher machine and we parked in the double car parking spaces at the bottom and it cost us £20.50, but we didn’t mind as we were visiting family for the weekend

  • 5/5

Large car park. Slightly sloping. Can park in lorry / coach bays if weigh more than 3.5T. UPDATE - Unfortunately I received a £70 penalty fine for parking in a coach bay despite phoning the council before going in the space to confirm this was ok with a motorhome over 3.5T. On appeal fine was overturned but council advice is to only park in the car spaces ( you are ok to straddle two bays).

  • 5/5

Fantastic place if visiting Chester, quiet and safe.Toilets in Cafe when open.Do not miss this one if in the area.

  • 3/5

Do not come here!Arrived yesterday, 29th June, in our 7.5m motorhome, took the oversized ticket, & parked in the lorry & coach area. As we don't like to upset people, we asked the traffic warden if we were OK. This morning, we woke up to a £70 fine!! not happy! now my husband is trying to find the wardens! UPDATE :-All charges dropped

  • 5/5

This is a fantastic place to stay to visit Chester, town is 5min walk away and cheap safe large carpark, over 25 motorhomes were there last night

  • 5/5

Update 23/06/23 No Parking now in the coach bays, even for large tags like our classed as private hgv. Clamping down due to the huge amount of vans taking up coach spaces when the races are on! 8 tickets issued this morning already

  • 5/5

I used to stay here as a child with my grandparents and loved every minute. Brilliant stop and great for City centre or racecourse

  • 5/5

Arrived Friday afternoon and being in a bigger van selected a large vehicle ticket, stayed for 48hrs and only paid £20. The carpark was fairly busy with several events taking place within Chester, but didn't appear over crowded. Would be brilliant if there were accessible toilets and an Elsan point on site, other than that all is great

  • 5/5

Spent nearly 24 hours with an overnight stop cost £13 for a car space… loads of spaces as long as it isn’t race day

  • 2/5

so busy. no small bays left so had to leave then come back in and get coach ticket. that is very expensive and nowhere near £5, it was £15 when I left. half term.

  • 4/5

Packed out. Got last space for coaches. Too busy for my liking this time, still good for the price. We were sitting in our van with windows open and the traffic warden said hello to us. She asked if we had a large coach bay ticket and we did and we showed it to her. She was explaining that 4 vans got a penalty charge last week for having small bay ticket park parked in coach bay.

  • 5/5

Absolute gem of a stop! Arrived at 6:30pm and left at 9:50am and cost us £5 for a large coach bay! Right on Chester walls, so did a gorgeous sunset 3.8km stroll in the evening then again the following morning. Cafe and toilets closed when we arrived but open Sunday morning. Quiet night’s sleep - we will be back to this gorgeous city and £5 overnight stop again!

  • 5/5

Thank you to the Chester Council for allowing this ...I wish more would follow your example. Great for a city stop over. No frills but a grwat spot. its a win win ... the Council get revenue ...the City gets visitors.

  • 5/5

perfect for motorhomes. very close to city centre and massive parking bays. this is the place to park in Chester. Tried 2 others and they were impossible to party in.

  • 5/5

Brilliant place too stay other camper vans there too we arrived at half 4 on Tuesday the 30 th August 2022 and went off at half 9 the following morning and it cost us £15 for the night well worth it as you are with in walking distance to everything in Chester highly recommend

  • 4/5

Still good but maybe too many motorhomes right in your window. Traffic warden came round asking if we purchased a large vehicle ticket. We had as we did indeed need 2 bays so no issues. He was very nice and wished us a pleasant stay. The signs are clear on entry saying more or less campervans need 2 spaces - most do and very little availability by the river where you only need one space.

  • 2/5

  • 2/5

Does not feel safe anymore. Group of lads in a white van looking at vans. An abandoned car with loads of tickets on it.Shame as this was a very good spot. Stayed again and see comment 7July. Police turns up to deal with an incident. Also some people now think it is ok to have a BBQ...it is not. Go to town and eat out. Chester Council will soon change this place if things do not get better.

  • 4/5

Easy to find, lovely spot among the trees next to the river. Great for a city centre spot. 5 other campers and lorries here tonight so plenty of room for all. Great walks along the river and around racecourse. £1.50 from 6pm to 6.59am, then £5.00 from 7am onwards (up to 12hrs).

  • 5/5

Another peaceful night. Convenient for the city centre, or a walk along the side of the river. Just a quick note though to say it will be closed from 28 April 2022 till 8 May. If I remember correctly there's a fair which visits the carpark every year around the May Bank holidays.

  • 5/5

Excellent place to stay. Please note car park closed 28th April to 8th May

  • 5/5

Was meant to park here for one night on our way to Wales but ended up staying for two. Really well priced (21£ arrived sunday at 13:58 and left tuesday 16:00). 10 min walk to town, many parking spaces and great walk on the path that surrounds the race track. Low hum from covid generator but otherwise very peaceful. Will use again!

  • 4/5

Quiet riverside overnight parking, very convenient for city centre. £21 Thurs-Saturday. Level tarmac. 10 mins walk into town, nice walk other way along river by racecourse.

  • 5/5

Easy to find and plenty of parking spaces, short walk to town and clean toilets and cafe onsite. The Chester museum is free and is only a couple of minutes away, well worth a visit

  • 5/5

Great carpark right on the edge of town, flat spaces, fairly quiet except the go if testing area has some generators so low buzz but just try to park away from it, no toilets unless the cafe is open, £8 over night unless you leave after 7am then £13, will definitely use again.

  • 3/5

Nightmare getting to CP due to road closures arrived stressed used the wrong ticket machine. So came off in the morning to reduce the tariff for 24 hrs. Some road noise and generator noise but it didn't keep me awake. Great location for Christmas markets easy walk to town.

  • 2/5

Noisy 24hr Covid test center and busy road all night, construction starting at 8am. All that for £15. £2 more you could stop at a campsite with EHU. Good for location of city but overpriced

  • 5/5

Excellent initiative by the council. City centre park up for £15, unbeatable value. Chester is a lovely place. We’ve visited on dozens of occasions, lots of bars and restaurants with great shops. More councils should do stuff like this. The test centre generator is a little noisy but not excessively so. There must have been two dozen vans parked up. Thanks, Chester!

  • 5/5

Massive car park with tonnes of space with other Motorhomers around. £5 for the day. We’ll certainly go back

  • 4/5

Great place to park for the night, wait until after 6pm though to get the deal! It's a little noisy with the covid testing station generator but it really isn't that bad to be honest. Early café wagon delivery but overall we were very happy as its a great location.

  • 4/5

A central place to stay. At the time of writing, the generator was quite noisy and there was a lot of construction work going on in and around the carpark with one entrance closed. Still lots of room though with spaces for large motorhomes.

  • 5/5

A lovely place to stay! We stayed here for one night and found it very pleasant . The car park is situated right in the centre of town, alongside a river with the racecourse a stone’s throw away. The is ample space for numerous motor homes and it was very safe. There is currently a Covid testing site in the car park so payment is suspended. We would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

  • 5/5

Fantastic location for visiting Chester right by castle walls 5mins walk from centre. Cafe on site and lot of other eating / takeaways nearby. No services on site, and but for test and trace currently on the site, this is a quiet and secure feeling place to stay over night. Collect ticket on way in and pay on exit. You can gain access to the racecourse from the bottom of the site.

  • 5/5

Stayed from Friday late evening to about 8.30am Sunday for a total of £8. Location is perfect to walk into Chester and next to race course. Cafe is open 10-5 weekends with toilets. Also beside river with a resident cat. Lots of other vans everyone polite and friendly

  • 4/5

Really liked our stay here. The location is perfect.. just beneath the castle, and with a lovely river walk on the other side. Loads of bays, even with Covid testing running.Very quiet, apart from some generators running at the test centre. We stayed here for almost 24 hours, and thought the fee of £13 was fine, 'cos its so close and convenient to city. Will definitely stop over again.

  • 3/5

Stayed on site Saturday night 9th may , plenty of space ,easy walk into the town centre having work done on the car park .parked at the bottom just before dark they started a generator for lighting on the works site bit noisy. Met Sid and Judy. Brummies nice place will use again. £13 cafe closed

  • 5/5

If you want to have a drink / night out in Chester this is the place to park as you can legitimately stay overnight. Stayed here before all the COVID nonsense and went to a rock concert in Chester (forgot the same of the venue, but the one near the station) .. mega night as wasn’t worried about drinking .. got quite smashed .. did the late night takeaway thing and then fell into the van (quietly though!) at who knows what time - good times :D. Definitely agree that more cities should provide this as the amount of extra business that goes to the town would easily cover the cost of picking up after those few who try to spoil it for the rest. Look after this spot please and hopefully it will always be available! :D

  • 3/5

Parked in 6mtr boxer van. We arrived 4pm and left 11am next day. Charge was £8 for over 12 hours PLUS £5 overnight. Total cost for less than 24 hours was £13! Personally I think it’s a lot for no services.

  • 5/5

Also didn’t mind the test center. Plenty of space away from the lights and potential sound. great location, close to city and cycle paths. Slightly annoying now due to traffic works the entire city has a one way system but that is just a minar annoyance.

  • 5/5

Ignore the last 1 star review. Here now and the Covid testing centre is only taking up a very small section of this huge car park . It’s £10 overnight or £15 for day and night for the huge motor home/couch parking spaces . I am in a LWB sprinter so only took a car ticket which is £8 for 24 hours as I can use an end bay ! . There’s 7 motor homes here tonight . It will get busier tomorrow as you can travel from the 12th April . Nice walk down the river and only 15 minute walk into the centre of Chester . Great park up

  • 1/5

Not good at the moment. Passed it today as I was in a car. Stopped to have a look. Covid Testing Centre takes all of the bottom car park where vans normally park. Come 12th April you might get a spot by river but not ideal otherwise. Shame as I was looking for a few nights later this month. Think I will wait until autumn now.

  • 5/5

Stayed here last night a lot of others motorhome owners stayed to great place close to town & quit good value for money.

  • 2/5

Covid ridden car park now. lots of coming and goings at the test centre that has been placed there. left after 3 hours as people coming in coughing and spluttering.

  • 5/5

This is our third time here, and is a great location for the city and the River Dee. HOWEVER, from 5th Sept, part of the car park is being converted to a covid testing centre. "The testing site will take up part of the Little Roodee car park, with the remaining part being open for payable parking." Hopefully someone will comment on here on how it affects the motorhome parking.

  • 5/5

Excellent location, very quiet. Plenty of other Motorhomers for company. We paid £15 for 24hrs.

  • 5/5

Brilliant location, quiet, a number of motorhomes on here during our stay, no trouble. Would definitely visit again.

  • 3/5

Update from a regular here. note the toilets are closed now just in case you are relying on that facility. so own wc is essential. Cafe also closed.

  • 4/5

Nice carpark out of the way. Quiet in the middle of Chester I jumped on deliveroo and ordered a pizza ? got them to meet me at the carpark entry of the carpark

  • 5/5

Plenty of room today probably due to rain but we are right next to River Dee 5 minute walk into Chester

  • 5/5

Stayed on a Friday night. arrived at approx 3pm on the Friday and left on the Sat at midday.. cost £13

  • 4/5

Went here only problem got charged 15 pound for a coach and was in a campervan had wrong reg on ticket so check your ticket no 1 there to sort it out

  • 5/5

Great stay.On Friday a carpark officer came round with a mobile machine checking reg and moved on. I caught him asking if we ok as we parked across 2 spots. He said yes as we had correct ticket ie oversized vehicle from top machine, so be aware, plate recognition on way in, and printed on your ticket. And they check. Great place - still worth the money.

  • 3/5

A great location. More towns and cities should provide this. I would have given more stars but we received a penalty charge notice. The signage is very unclear. We have an oversized motorhome and correctly purchased the coach and lorry ticket but the signage suggests parking across 2 bays on the carpark which we did and received a ticket. You must park in the coach and lorry section.

  • 3/5

Note the main road into car park is shut. take diversion down towards river and then left along a bit of narrow road and then you see car park.

  • 5/5

Very good spot close by the river and city wall. Best level spots are alongside the river but slopes elsewhere which can be overcome using ramps. Pay before exit, £1.50 overnight (arrive after 6pm) and £5.00 for daytime - very good value for a city centre carpark. Busy for the Chester marathon but that is to be expected.

  • 5/5

Arrived late from Somerset in a small transit campervan, plenty of spaces and about another 14 campers. Cafe with toilets open in the morning and 24hr Asda about 5 minutes drive. We arrived at 11.30pm and left at 10.50am and cost us £1.50 for the night.

  • 5/5

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

Perfect spot, level parking in-between the trees on the waterside. Good cafe during the daytime with free wi-fi. Highly recommended.

  • 5/5

Lovely overnight stop! Amazing price and great walk for our dogs. Stayed in a Monday night so was quiet but there was another couple of motor homes so felt safe! Will definitely be staying again to visit Chester, looks lovely!

  • 4/5

Nice place be going again, lovely river side bays, we was told we could park on the coach bays as was others, but managed to get a riverside spot. In normal bays it is a bit on the slope side, so be prepared, 10 min walk in to chester, happy camping

  • 5/5

We stayed here with our motorhome overnight, very good location, 10mins walk into Chester, lovely walk along the river, parking fee very reasonable, told not to park where the coaches are as you will have to pay the coach fee which is understandable, will definitely be staying again.

  • 4/5

Very useful parking area next to the river and close to the centre of Chester. Very sloping, except the few spaces parallel with the river. Good footpath in both directions along the river - heading west past the racecourse is ideal for walking dogs.

  • 4/5

Much better. Quiet stay. New rules on double space parking - select the right ticket so you can prove it to wardens who check. Bit of confusion as one van was booked for staying at coach spot last week according to a fellow wild camper. Not as cheap as it used to be but tremendous value staying in the heart of Chester, but I have a big 9m van so must not grumble being able to park here.

  • 5/5

Just spent two nights at little Rhodes, great place quite at night. We use this place regularly never had any problems, barrier controlled seems strange boy racers would pay the fee just to drive round the car park as in the last comment

  • 2/5

And this is a public car park. The toilets are run by the cafe owners, but some people think it is some sort of facility for them to use and wash their faces and wash their teeth, and put chairs and tables out on the car park. Pathetic. Use it as an overnight stop, not a camp site.

  • 1/5

No good anymore. Youths drinking giving abuse, boy racers at night driving at speed. Some vans with people peeing outside and thugs walking round the vans. Not good. Did not feel safe.

  • 3/5

  • 4/5

Stayed for one night. Arrived at 15.38 and left the following morning at around 9.30, paid 13 Pounds. Felt very safe. Lots of vans around. Quiet.

  • 5/5

Por solo 6 euros puedes pasar la noche, mucho ambiente de caravanas. vigilado con camaras de seguridad. bastante grande.

  • 3/5

Stayed here two nights. Good place, short walk to city centre. Only one or two level areas down by riverside, other areas on quite a slope. Prices increasing slightly in Apr 2018 and overnight time moving back to 6pm. we parked overnight, all day, overnight again then left before 7am for less than a tenner. (take the ticket from the lower of the machines on entry or you will pay the coach rate)

  • 3/5

Pratique à 2 pas du centre ville, relativement calme, aucun service (arrivée à 13h départ le lendemain à 11h : 10£)

  • 5/5

We arrived after 10.30pm barrier system in operation just take a ticket and pay on departure next day, if you only want to pay £1.50 you have to be out before 7am. Great place was quiet even for a Friday night used it as a stop before going to Chester Fairoaks site on the Saturday.

  • 5/5

Les places au bord de l'eau sont très calme, £7,30 nuit plus journée.

  • 5/5

We always stay on this car park great location for Chester cheap but be careful when the races are on it gets very busy full of coaches

  • 4/5

We liked this area. It was handy for visiting Chester. No too expensive either. Good to have a few other Motorhomes around as well.

  • 4/5

Stayed overnight, toilets open all night, no cafe, ideal for day trip to Chester

  • 4/5

Grande parking a poche centinaia di m. Dal centro. Ottimo per la notte, video sorvegliato e tranquillo.

  • 4/5

Places spéciales pour camping-car côté rivière. Calme la nuit. Belle ville à visiter à 2 pas

  • 4/5

Great place use it every time we are in the area,
