  • 5/5

Nice free spot, 3 minutes walk to town. Quiet. Toilets closed but Lidl, Sainsbury's, Morrisons or 'Spoons have facilities.

  • 3/5

It’s a fab spot. But a fairground on this weekend. Won’t be peaceful. But if you like go enjoy & have fun!

  • 5/5

what a great spot to stop overnight. massive area handy to walk into town. so good to have a friendly Motor home town. But Hawick is a friendly town

  • 5/5

We have stayed here a number of times. Thanks to Hawick for providing such a great facility. We stay for free and spend our money in the local shops and pubs and cafes. Wonderful park immediately next to the parking area. We have met some very friendly locals each time we have stayed. 100%. Why don’t more communities have the same foresight?

  • 4/5

A good stop with a elsan point and limited recycling, currently (jan) the water point is not working and the toilets are closed. But as others said several supermarkets nearby. Site is level enough and tarmac, no markings of the bays, so can be a free for all. We stopped on a Saturday night, so there we a few boy racers in the car park, but tended to be the other end. And the price is right. Free

  • 4/5

Great location very quite. no toilet and no shower but there is elsan abd water point. make sure your hose is at least 20m. would definitely reccomendca stop here. shops close busy with toilets.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Great free stopover right next to the river with Elsan point and fresh water quiet nights sleep

  • 5/5

    Perfekt für eine Durchgangsnacht!

  • 5/5

Sehr empfehlenswert! Die Nacht war super ruhig und angenehm.

  • 5/5

We need more towns with the foresight of Hawick lovely stopover and free. We spend money in these places and this one is a must on any tour with two great museums a must for any motercycle racing fan. Hawick the home of two racing legends and celebrated in Wilton lodge. Thanks to the town and all who have helped to make this such a grate stop. Please support this stop, town, park, museum

  • 5/5

Large car park near town on the flat. Room for about 15 motorhomes all very spaced.

  • 5/5

We have lived in Hawick now for 5 years and love it. We first discovered this lovely town when we were welcome to park and stay in our Motorhome overnight, there was even a tap available for water. Lots of towns saw a big Motorhome arriving as an inconvenience but Hawick saw an opportunity for people to explore the beautiful Park and spend money in the local shops and cafes etc. Fabulous.

  • 5/5

Such a great facility, thanks to the community for supporting it. We were even welcomed by a local welcome host who dropped by with an information leaflet and we had a chat!! Brilliant. The facilities are great - toilet waste, fresh water, recycling and rubbish bins. Lidl, five mins walk, has a customer toilet! Hawick is lovely - recommend the park and museum and the shops and cafes are great.

  • 5/5

Thank you Hawick! At last, a town who welcomes Motorhomes. Large, level public car park witching shirt walk to shops. Fresh water and grey / black waste disposal for free. We spent money in the local shops and take way. Great facility.

  • 5/5

super je recommande merci l'a ville endroit calme ville sympa

  • 5/5

Large free car park with motorhome spaces at top end. Level and hardstanding. All services. Relatively quiet at night, although there can be quite a vanlife community gathering at weekends. Fantastic effort by the town

  • 5/5

Great facility. 16 of us tonight. No white lines to denote parking bays though which means vans on one side are parked sideways. Water/elsan area looks really clean. Great resource!

  • 4/5

  • 4/5

The local Hawick town council deserve a lot of praise for this aire. It has all facilities and is very close to loads of shops and bars. Was full, when I stayed, and there were some enormous rigs next to me. Yes, the gulls are a pest, yes the aire is next to a big construction project, but its the best place to stay in Hawick.

  • 5/5

Everything you need: free overnight parking, fresh water and black water disposal, toilets at a small fee. Good 4G, tarmac flat enough room for many vans. Huge scenic park nearby and 5 minutes walk into high street. Aldi, Lidl, sainsburys all close by. Be careful if arriving in June. The place is closed for two weeks in June as the funfair parks here and it’s the common riding festival.

  • 5/5

The car park is closed for 2 weeks due to the funfair taking it over for the local common riding. It will probably reopen on 12 June. Don’t be put off coming here as it’s a great town, with lots of facilities to offer and they are really welcoming to campervans.

  • 5/5

Stayed 27/5 Good location. Nice walks around the park. The museum is well worth a visit. Got treated to a common riding event through the town. Elsan and water great.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Great place to stop. flat and quiet, fresh water and elsan emptying all working. Nice walks nearby. lidl's only 200 Mt's away.

  • 4/5

We made a quick stop to use the elsan point. That and water were great.

  • 5/5

Just a heads up, the aire area is closed 24th-28th March due to motorhomefun rally coinciding with the reivers festival. All motorhomers CAN still use the facilities, just need to park in any other part of the 400 space car park.

  • 4/5

Great little spot, and thanks to the council for having this aire setup. Free water & toilet dump & bins and parking, max stay 48 hours. Toilets were open however 30p to enter. Few trucks etc around the parking and couple cars driving fast down the road next to the parking but is expected for a town center. If you do stay support some of the local shops, show them the benefit of having aires.

  • 3/5

Update: as at 13 Dec 2022, toilets and facilities within are closed 'due to antisocial behaviour'. Parking remains open and with unrestricted height. Elsan emptying and fresh water supply is located in its own compound nearer to the exit and (subject to not being frozen) still available.

  • 4/5

Stayed here with a few other vans. Toilets appeared to be closed biut as we are self contained that was not a problem. Flood defence work taking place so some of the car park is fenced off. Nice park to walk or cycle in just along the road. Well done to the local community and council for allowing this parking place. Will use again in the future.

  • 5/5

We stayed here overnight in our camper it was fantastic. It was quiet (apart from the church bells at 6am) and dark. Really great facilities with fresh water and emptying waste elsan. We got fish and chips at the chip shop up the hill which were delicious. There were 9 other vans parked up too. There is a lidl across the road which have toilets and a bakery. The toilets in the carpark are clean and just 30p to use. Harwick have done a great job with this facility we will be back for sure. A great stop over heading north or south.

  • 5/5

belter safe place, easy access to everything

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Great stopover, plenty of space & facilities are good. The Elsan empty point is great. Lots of see & do nearby. A huge park to walk around the the left of the carpark (if you stand at the toilet empty point facing the hospital). Would use again.

  • 5/5

free and safe park up for the night. Lots of space with fresh water and toilet emptying, alsi toilets.

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

This kind of set up in the UK is so nice. Great to get everything we need in one spot. We'd just echo other comments, more councils need to do this, it's just such obvious common financial sense.

  • 5/5

arrived here about 6pm, big carpark motorhome spots all at the back. no issues it was quiet and felt safe, lots of rubbish bins around.

  • 5/5

Excellent where here at the moment with our jimangi stopped overnight & had a great night very quiet

  • 5/5

What a forward thinking Council! Stayed last night, quiet, lots of space for many motorhomes. Lovely big park to walk the dog, plenty supermarkets. A lovely welcoming town. Toilets are open 9am till 5pm. Elsan point which also has fresh water with a hose. Very handy! Plenty recycling bins.

  • 5/5

A true Aire, well done Hawick. Fresh water, an Elsan point for your black waste and walking distance to the town. Let’s hike other councils follow.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

A lovely welcoming town for motorhomes, now complete with a new motorhome parking area, fresh water and elsan point. A 5 minute walk to town and situated next to a beautiful park. Definitely worth a stopover.

  • 5/5

Wow Hawick pronounced Hoik! Friendly. Council doing lots of work. Chemical disposal worked on today. Quiet at night. Convenient during day. Beautiful park with dog friendly cafe. Don’t miss the exchange bar. Real trad bar What a delight

  • 4/5

Great stop for a night on our way to Edinburgh. Flood defence being built but they didn’t start the work too early in the morning. Few visitors to the bottle banks during the evening but apart from that not much traffic at all. Lovely walk in the park a mile up the road, definitely recommend! Mostly flat spaces. Would stop here again.

  • 5/5

spent 2 nights here as sign says max 48hours stay. Really enjoyed it - undisturbed. Construction work in day but not too noisy. toilets open during day and disabled toilet 24/7 normally prefer to be more out the way so great to be fairly central and still feel safe

  • 5/5

Construction works ongoing from the car park. (Flood prevention) Surprisingly not that noisy. 8 in total motorhomes stayed overnight. Unable to get to designated parking due to works. But the water tap still working and toilets open 9-5. Lovely park nearby to walk the dog, Wilton Deans Park in the direction of hospital. One boy racer arrived playing music for 5 mins then left. No big deal.

  • 5/5

Quit night, felt very safe and flat hard standing tarmac. looking forward to the flood defence being finished.

  • 3/5

The flood defences are still on going. but they do work in the day only. The fun fair is currently using this carpark. I couldn't find the water tap. however with the fun fair the the flood defence works going on the carpark is a lot smaller. The location is very close to town.

  • 5/5

Despite the flood prevention work being carried out you are still allowed to stay overnight. We were met by the friendly welcome committee member who informed us that we were welcome to stay as long as we liked and also gave us an information booklet about the town and the local area. Excellent overnight stop and hopefully more towns will follow the example of Hawick.

  • 5/5

This place is a absolute gem, yes there is flood defence work going on, but you can still come stay just as before and explore this wonderful town and surroundings. once the new motorhome parking is finished it should be really something. give it a try and help keep places like this alive. excellent, town, excellent park, excellent friendly people.

  • 3/5

Great Free parking for campervan in designated areas (flood prevention work 03/05/21 but still did an over night stay...

  • 3/5

Great carpark by the river, fantastic that motorhomes are allowed. Please note, currently (March 2021) there are extensive flood prevention works being carried out here. You may not get parked. the motorhome area. I wouldn't like anyone to arrive and be disappointed

  • 4/5

Plentiful free overnight parking. Super clean toilets for 30p. Can be a bit noisy. Council encouraging vans to stay is nice.

  • 3/5

Congratulations to the town council for providing this facility. They are among the few that are truly welcoming to the motor homing community. A really convenient town centre parking and over night stopover. It was really quiet after 10:30. There is a fantastic park, walks and cycle trails virtually from the car park. When the flood defence works are finished it will be better

  • 3/5

The motorhome parking is being made into a flood defense wall, you can still park anywhere else in the car park. the work is a 3 year plan. still excellent.

  • 5/5

I parked up here an hour ago (18:30). Heard a knock on the door and thought oh-oh, its the police. However it wasn’t, it was a lovely lady from the council who welcomes motor-homers to the lovely town of Hawick. Even gave me a wee brochure to read. Lovely gesture by a lovely lady... ❤️❤️❤️

  • 5/5

Stopped a few days - very quiet at night but some boy (and girl) racers in the evening - mostly just chatting, no donuts or silly tricks, but loud when they come and go. Hawick is a nice town with every facility a short walk over the river - would recommend a stay. We’ll be back.

  • 5/5

Parking by the river between the edge of a beautiful park and town which is only a 2min walk away. This is a friendly welcoming town with nice shops and distillery. Water tap, toilets and bin on site. Yes there are boy racers but they mostly sit chatting and leave around 10.30pm. Well worth a stopover here.

  • 1/5

Great that this car park is open with designated MH spaces, but I would avoid if you want a quiet place approx 15 very loud boy racers speeding around car park red lining engine’s from 5.30 till early hours, police attended but did nothing total joke

  • 4/5

We have been here many a time. We stayed Wed to FRi and no boy racers. Please try and spend a few £££s in this town and mention you are motorhoming.

  • 5/5

Great place to stay for free, the toilets are clean and tidy and when we visited they were open right through the night. Very quiet at night when we stayed.

  • 3/5

  • 3/5

Stayed here last night, great location for the town, but ruined by boy racers with loud exhausts racing around the carpark until the early hours. Market day today, so clanging of metal poles on tarmac from 530am... which would be ok if I hadn't been awake worrying a car would hit me half the night.. shame as such a great location and great idea by Hawick council

  • 4/5

Convenient overnight parking, dedicated campervan spaces in a large car park. Close to town centre. Well done local council, more initiatives like this would be great. Recommended.

  • 5/5

Brilliant initiative from the council to allow free motor home parking in a site right in the town centre. Spaces for motorhomes right next to the river. Quiet enough at night for me to sleep well. Toilets are open 24 hours despite the sign and are 30p, any combination of silver coins to that amount but not above as no change given (2 x 20p coins won't get you in !), recommended place to stop

  • 4/5

Toilets 30p. Supermarkets within walking distance. Noisy seagulls and boy racers. But overall very good.

  • 5/5

Arrived Thursday 19th July 2018 Welcome Hosts from tourism for Hawick came around the car park to each van with a Hawick Info Brochure. They informed us that they have now relaxed the parking restrictions. Vans can park either side of car park and please stay as long as you like! They had 13 vans the night before! Vans can now stay Friday night for Saturday's market. So please come and visit.

  • 1/5

  • 1/5

Nice location, spoiled by the evening activities of the boy racers approx 15 cars racing in and around the parking area playing football throwing firecrackers, loud music until midnight

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Nice stopover with clean toilets and a water tap on wall. A very short walk over the bridge brings you into a nice little town to visit. Please support them by spending some money here.

  • 5/5

  • 4/5

A rarity in the UK. A council that welcomes MHs! Parking by the river (bit of a slope). Shops, bars etc nearby. Thank you, Hawick.

  • 4/5

Free dedicated motorhome area provided by Borders Council next to river and within short walking distance of town centre and, in opposite direction, lovely walk through park along the Riverside.

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

Very nice and it's free. Motorhome spaces overlooking river. We are 18' and fitted in nicely but it appears you can park lengthways as there are no markings.

  • 3/5

  • 1/5

Council website has full details of this experimental idea for motorhome tourists.
