Gravel car park at national trust viewpoint. can get a long way away from road (minor road). level. no services. footpaths and bridleways start at car park. chilterns vewpoint 10min walk away on signposted (wheelchair accessible) path. some noise from locals meeting and playing music in cars (might be a one off as it was saturday bank holiday when we stayed). quiet from midnight until 8am (dog walkers cars arriving from 8am). fun activity trail for kids (or adults ?) next to car park.

Lovely quiet spot surrounded by woodland, stayed in early November and I was the only vehicle there overnight. No mobile signal from the car park, I managed to get a bar or two from the monument on top of the hill. Dog walkers began arriving around 9am.

Spectacular views from the monument. Huge flat parking area. Extremely quiet and isolated after 9pm. Very poor phone signal on Vodafone but ideal from getting away from it all. Fantastic sunset from the monument, some really nice easy walks and some more difficult as well. No facilities at all tho which didn't bother me.

Un posto carino ma la notte (mercoledì) è pieno di giovani che vanno e vengono e sono rumorosi.

Stayed here for a night, large fairly level car park. Lovely walks in the area (checking out the monument is a must!), and the car park was very quiet at night until around 8:30am. Rained while we were there and the car park and surrounding trails were very muddy, but would 100% stay again.

Stayed here a few times. Usually no one there, weekend sometimes young people in cars, but not loud. walks around this area are second to none for the Chiltern hills. can't go wrong crashing here for a night and enjoying the Coombe hill walk in the morning.

Great little spot. Lovely walks from the car park. Proximity to Chequers means you will likely have police floating around. If it is rainy it is an extremely muddy car park so I’d be mindful of that. Very busy in the morning with dog walkers. Some told us that the car park was not supposed to be used for overnight stays, but there are no signs suggesting that is the case.

A great park up. Dog walkers during day but no problems with my van tucked away. Lovely walk to the top with lovely views. No police bother when we were there.

  • 3/5

quiet large car park although there are a lot of leisure users. Sadly, virtually no 3Mobile signal on 4g or 3g making it a big deal breaker.

Nice spot to stay if you don’t need any ammenities. No one hassled is or engaged with us. People walk their dogs quite late/early so it was quiet about 11-6:30/7am. Wasn’t the most restful sleep as you hear cars outside and wonder if they’re for you, but when it got quiet and I slept it was fine. Nice walking spot and beautiful view on your walk.

Nice quiet spot with some great walks around the forest.

    Excellent stop for the night.

  • 4/5

Great stop point but car park did get quite a few visitors through the night

  • 5/5

Great spot! Very quiet and close to london! Although we did get a police check because the car park is within the grounds of a prince! The officer was very nice and left us to it!

Nice spot, beautiful walks and views. Take an evening meal and watch the sunset on the hill. Sunday quiet between 11pm and 8am Monday quiet after 1am, police check at 4.40am. Very dark and silent at night so great for sleeping . Thanks for the location

We stayed here last night 25/10/2020. Fairly quiet few cars and youths about. We had a visit from armed police due to proximity to chequers. They asked for ID and an explanation but they were fine.

Arrived 9pm on a Sunday mid July and car park was full. Managed to squeeze in when someone left but for hours cars were arriving full of youngsters and it didn’t quieten down until well after 11pm. Wouldn’t go back unless it was raining or winter. Otherwise a great spot for a walk with amazing views from top of Coombe hill.

    Very busy, unable to stop.

Great wild camping spot. Some noise until 11 seemed to be an even going on. Very popular dig walking on Sunday morning.

  • 4/5

Great stop for the night. No trouble and great walks

  • 4/5

Stopped here for 1 evening and 1 night. couple of noisy locals but it was short lived. it was empty from about 11 till 0730 apart from checkers armed police, with exactly the same experience as the previous comment. no height restrictions.

Nice quiet spot but not gravelled anymore. Quiet muddy but firm. Stayed one night with no issues. Good spot, thanks.

No complaints it's a nice spot with nice walks had a good night's sleep. very popular with dog walkers in the morning but plenty of space for parking

This should be called Coombe Hill not Lodge Hill. Good location: flat and very spacious. A few cars turned up during the evening but soon left. Will definitely return next time in the area.

Lovely little spot I did get a visit from the police at about 10 o’clock as it’s so close to chequers but they were very brief and polite apart from that the odd car came in and out but I got a good nights sleep.
