Merci Newcastle upon Tyne! Bien éclairé toute la nuit aussi.

Follow signs for "Ouseburn South" parking. Enormous surfaced, flat, riverside, free city car park, of which less than half is currently accessible. Walking distance to the city centre. Very quiet, as it is a "long stay" car park, so little slamming of doors, and very few pedestrians. The adjacent bike shop/café with outside tables said I could have water if I needed it. Unusual to have such a good place to stay in a big city. Thank you Newcastle upon Tyne! Well lit all through the night, too.

Danke, Newcastle-upon-Tyne! Auch die ganze Nacht gut beleuchtet.

Parked up here for 2 nights, first night crashed at a friend's and the 2nd night in the van. As I drove away on the Sunday morning I noticed the van making noises, feeling odd to drive. I stopped up the street to see I had a completely flat tyre with a fairly big cut in it. I can only presume someone disapproved of me staying there and slashed it on one of the nights!

We were a bit sceptical about staying here given the mixed reviews, but it was great. Amazing location overlooking the Tyne and the lights towards quayside and the Millennium bridge. 10 minute walk to town along quayside, quiet overnight (felt safer because the gate is locked overnight) and a cafe for breakfast the next morning. Stayed Saturday night, free after 6pm and free on Sunday.

Parking until 6pm (60 pence / hour), there’s a barrier that will close the parking from 22:00 to 06:00. I didn’t stay because I didn’t feel safe not being able to leave if I wanted during the night. But I asked a local woman and she said it’s a safe parking area.

really not a good place ok during the day but I wouldn't have the night here again. someone tried to open my back door during the night.

  • 1/5

Great place to park. Lovely views. Just £4 day after 6 pm and Sunday free to park. Boy racers at night up to around midnight. No problem. Fisherman in morning around 6 am We stayed Friday and Saturday evening.

I parked there last night - a warm Saturday night. Very quiet. A few cars came and went or sat for a while but I went to the far end of the car park, away from the Cycle Hub, so barely noticed them. There was a large mobile home up that end too. No hassle at all from anyone. So easy from the city centre. Nice view of the bridges. I’d definitely be happy to park there again.

Stayed for 1 night. No issues. Was ideal. Bit far from centre so used an Uber which arrived in 5 minutes. Cost £4 to centre. Have to pay parking via an app ‘pay by phone’ unless you have change. Cost £4 for 24hrs. View overlooking the Tyne and bike cafe serve a nice bacon sarny in the morning.

Arrived late morning and spoke to parking attendants who stated okay to park 6.3 m van at end of car park next to yellow fence. There was a slight overhang in parking bay however this was acceptable.

  • 5/5

Truly amazing views from here, across the Tyne. Best pub you could ask for at the top of the hill (Free Trade Inn) and the Cycle Hub next to the carpark. Ouseburn pubs not a far walk, Tyne Bar, etc. Perfect spot really.

All the council have an intention to start charging and banning motorhomes in. I have a live objection in along with a response. They have said as a reminder you can park now but cannot sleep and cannot cook….. worth the risk i stayed there without an issue

As others have said. we arrived at 6pm and got some stares but it was a good night stop nevertheless. fantastic view and a lovely walk along the water after dinner. At 6metres we were a bit big to fit into one space and the raised pavement meant we couldn't hang our back end over it so we had to stick out a bit.

  • 4/5

There are signs stating it is changing to park and pay 40p per hour, max stay 24 hours, size limited to 6.1m. Shame as it's so close to City centre and a good real ale pub on doorstop.

  • 3/5

Not bad, but some dodgy looking characters (boy racers etc) in the evening (Thursday) who were staring at our van for ages etc. We moved to Morrisons instead. The spot is probably fine Sun-Wed. -Go plant-based -Leave no trace

  • 5/5

Very convenient, free, felt fairly safe. Only downside was us waking up hungover at 11am and being surrounded by a full car park when we went to bed in an empty one.

  • 4/5

It’s great to have a large car park so close to the city, with no height restrictions or parking overnight restrictions and it’s free. Yes there’s boy racers but for what this place offers it’s stil 5 stars. Stayed many many times with no problems whatsoever. They have recently made it smaller however - it’s still large but about half the size it was

  • 5/5

Great place to stay to visit Newcastle, car park does get boy racers on a night going around the car park till early hours, didn't bother us. Been there about four times so we must like it.

  • 3/5

A spacious car park over looking the Tyne. Close to City centre. Some boy racers around 11pm to 12pm who other than the noise of engines posed no threat. One other camper on site. Based on cost ie its free a great place to stop.

  • 2/5

Excellent location for the city but we were unlucky on a Friday night as some kids in a Corsa were playing some R&B quite loud with the doors open etc. Was too tired to enjoy that so left for a quieter spot. Would definitely try my chances here again as it's such a convenient location and hopefully could score it a higher rating!

  • 5/5

Spot on for the city. Avoid the Tyne bridge and go through the tunnel, then easy to get to. No bother on Friday night I stayed.

  • 5/5

Excellent stopover for the city. stayed after the Rugby at St James’ park. Nice walk into town, easy to get to if approached from the Tunnel side.

  • 3/5

Great location to visit the city. Also no problem to park for the night however.....the local teen testosterone club showed up around 2000 with about 20 small fast cars and parked directly in front of us 3 vans parked for the night. They were mostly well behaved talking and joking around bu they did enjoy racing up and down the parking lot until about 2300 and finally left. Not exactly the peaceful night I envisioned. Not sure if every night though. Otherwise beautiful walk into the city. Note the parking lot even though huge does get full in the morning until about 1800.

  • 3/5

  • 4/5

Didn't stay the night, but it's a big free car park that you can walk along the river into town. There were a few people having fun on a Friday night, but nothing annoying.

  • 5/5

  • 4/5

As others have said this is a large carpark about 15 minutes walk from the city centre. It is quiet and peaceful Also, when we stayed there were 4 other making you feel relaxed and secure.

  • 4/5

Stayed here for 3 nights very nice position along the River.a little bit untidy with rubbish lying around but a very nice cafe with access the toilet at the bike hire centre. 10 minute walk along the Tyne into Newcastle

  • 3/5
