Super endroit à la périphérie de Castleton, au bout d'une impasse, rien que des promeneurs. Belle vue sur la vallée. Aucune raison pour que tu ne puisses pas passer la nuit.

Great spot on the outskirts of Castleton at the end of a dead end road nothing but walkers. Lovely views over the valley. No reason you couldn't stay overnight.

A great spot to park. It seems to be a little further up the road than is shown on the map. Keep going right to the end. Lovely views. Very cold and windy, but that's winter for you! Please pick up your litter. We gathered a carrier bag full and took it with us.

  • 1/5

Packed with campers, all the to the junction to Winnates pass. just a matter of time before the cancel replaces the meters they took out years ago.

  • 5/5

very popular spot but always ample space when we go, we love it here! local, accessible, near lots of beautiful walks and just a short and gorgeous walk into the village of Castleton for a drink or food in the village pubs or breakfast in one of the tea rooms! there are public toilets in the village too. The road can be a little busy with traffic some nights, but isn’t excessive.

  • 5/5

currently here right now, the only van, great views and walks. parked opposite the odin opening. flat enough Good signal. 3 vans stopped overnight was silent. you're more shielded in this parking than the one up top, so the wind is a little kinder. no signs. no issues.

  • 4/5

What can I say, well wow, we stopped here sat 2/9 and there must of been 50 vans of various descriptions, it was certainly busy. Lovely views and had no problems, yes you get the odd car speeding past and the odd electric bike but it did quieten down later, the top end did have a different vibe about it with plenty of people out side drinking, a bit of a mad max vibe about it but no problems.

  • 5/5

Nice spot, plenty of parking. However if you park right at the end of the road it can be a bit noisy due to the turning circle so everyone is coming past

  • 5/5

Perfect few nights here and also great phone signal perfect and less windy and wet than the higher car parks

  • 4/5

Schöner Ort mit sehr schöner Aussicht auf Odins Mine und Mam Tor. Eine spontane Party löste sich ebenso spontan nach 30 min wieder auf. Schwierig auszugleichen.

  • 5/5

I've stayed here many times over the last year as it's a reliably good spot: lots of spaces; great views; dead end so the only traffic is visitors; Castleton is a short walk with many pubs; many good walks in all directions. What's not to like?

  • 4/5

Good park up, was busy but not as busy as the other park up near mam tor, we drove half way down the road and found a quite spot with a great view.

  • 5/5

Lovely park up, we stayed here with no problems. Had a walk into the town which is about a 20 minutes walk from the top. Locals all really friendly

  • 4/5

Brilliant spot, hard standing, busy but it’s to be expected. Only thing is that there’s a notice of wanting to basically kill this as a stop over. Date had just gone when we came so it looks like this might be the last time we can use it…

  • 4/5

Great spot with beautiful views of the Hope Valley. Loads of room so you'd be unlucky not to get a spot, lots of vans and motorhomes around. Gets a bit of early morning traffic with walkers parking up to, so you may be woken by those.

  • 5/5

stayed here for new year along with about 80 other vans! great stop but gets very busy

  • 4/5

A great parking spot! We stayed for 2 nights over new year, a few cars pass at night but nothing bad. An ideal location for hiking Mam tor and surrounding walks and a perfect base for exploring the Peak District

  • 5/5

There’s quite a few good park ups around Castleton, this is my favourite, stopped here a few times over the summer and up to last night in November. Never had any problems and always felt safe and welcome with the other well spaced apart vans around. Keep it clean and tidy if you stop here guys please. Only down side is it’s a little on the slant

  • 5/5

Long road with many spots for parking. Felt safe, beautiful area and many other campers. Next to a bunch of caves and a little village!

  • 5/5

A huge amount of space over a distance of about a mile with great views down into Hope valley - the higher up you go the better the views. Everything from campervans to truck conversions. The slope varies between slight to minor. Quiet after about 8pm (dark October night) with just the occasional vehicle till about 10pm. Full 4G signal on EE.

  • 5/5

Great Spot, loads of other campers. No one disturbs you we returned twice whilst in the peaks as we couldnt find anything that matched. Some of it is on a slope but flat parts are available.

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

Great spot, beautiful views and plenty of space. Really good signal on 3 network. Popular spot but it was really quiet.

  • 5/5

stayed here on a Wednesday night. plenty of space all down the lane. Big turning space at the end. Nice and quiet and access to great walks. This will definitely be a place we stay again, we as 2 women felt very safe.

  • 5/5

Have stayed here so many times. It’s my favourite place in the UK. Great views, loss of space, Mam Tor and Winnats pass on van door step. Beautiful setting and easy to park no matter your van size. Always other vans and everyone always friendly. Highly recommend.

  • 5/5

Minimal noise at night, great location for lots of walks, stunning scenery!

  • 4/5

parked up here friday night car camping. great location no bother from anyone. few vans there great views of the moon and stars x

  • 5/5

Park anywhere for a mile or two on the road up to the dead end there are some cracker view stops and find a place to yourself if you want total peace, not level though but for a great stop like this it’s worth it. Some really nice long term travellers to talk to as well!

  • 5/5

Great free place for a night or two , lots of other vans when we was there , very busy during the day with day visitors but soon gets quiet in the evening , short walk down to Castleton where there are plenty of pubs etc , shame people leave rubbish behind can see this causing the inevitable eventually !!!

  • 5/5

Fantastic free roadside stopover place in Castleton, with stunning views - just leave no trace!

  • 5/5

Stayed for 1 night last year, loads of other campers and vans, but got nice spot with great views, good place to set off for walks etc, even though busy on night had a really good night's sleep and quite.

  • 5/5

There are dedicated parking areas which used to be parking meters, but now free. It is on a slight slope, but we were still comfortable without chocks. Amazing view and very quiet road. Definitely felt safe and would happily stay more than 1 night. Mam Tor start point also just up the road!

  • 5/5

Perfect spot on the outskirts of a lovely village. PLEASE let’s not lose this one... don’t treat it like a campsite. Locals do ring fire brigade if you have a fire, and it’s not appropriate to have all your chairs out blocking the pavement. It’s a dead end road but still used a lot and it’s just weird to treat it like a campsite.

  • 5/5

Excellent spot, stay here few times without any hassle.

  • 5/5

Very quiet no hassle and beautiful views. Walked past the parking spot further out of town. Views looked even more incredible. But a further walk from the pub, if that's a consideration for you.

  • 5/5

This is our second time in this spot. There is a few level spots at the top which we’ve managed to grab both times. Busy in the day with walkers and usually quiet at night. Some people having a party in Odins cave this time. Hasn’t bothered us they sounded like they had a good night. All quiet before 11.

  • 5/5

Stayed for the last Bank Holiday weekend in May here. it was busy as expected but a great place to stay with lovely views and a short walk into Castleton itself for pub lunches etc. Will be definitely staying again here. Plus my two small dogs enjoyed it.

  • 5/5

We didn’t stay overnight but parked here all day. Was perfect for us

  • 4/5

Great spot I e used several times. Old parking meter spots, but they’ve removed the meters so it’s free. 10min walk down to village, the ‘Devil’s Arse’ (the cavern) and the spot is bang next to Speedwell Cavern too. Quite busy road though in summer, sometimes with boy racers but they are few and far between.

  • 5/5

A great place to stay, dead end road so not a lot of traffic. quite a few campers but loads of space. also ideal if you have a dog! will definitely be returning when the caverns open again

  • 5/5

Stayed here a few times really good loads of room for quite a few vans never had any trouble nice and quiet loads of great walks around

  • 5/5

Gorgeous place! Popular with other campers, so I had lots of company last night. Great views, walks all around, and generally a calm atmosphere. 4/4/21

  • 4/5

Beautiful scenery, stayed here overnight New Year’s Day. Great access to walks. Sadly caverns were shut so couldn’t go inside them. Parking isn’t level as it’s on a no through road, hence 4 stars. Lots of other campervans. Road is very busy with walkers during the day but quiet overnight. No bins so rubbish has to be taken away with you. Great phone signal. Everyone friendly.

  • 4/5

This is a good road to park up for the night on however there aren't that many level spots. Weekends are very busy with walkers and cyclists and other campers. Loads of walks from here with Castleton only a 20 minute walk away. This is a dead end road but you get a lot of people driving up and turning when they realise this as maps still say you can get over the pass.

  • 4/5

Stayed here Aug 20. Circa 7 other campers/vans/cars parked up. Would definitely use this again. Gorgeous views with great access to the lovely village of Castleton and surrounding hills. Seemed those who use it, respect it as there was no sign of rubbish

  • 5/5

Great spot up at the top of the road as it is a dead end so not too much traffic. lots of over vans around and great views!

  • 5/5

    Super job.

  • 5/5

We stayed here for 2 nights. no hassle loads of other vans there. Lovely walks all around. Fairly close to public toilets at the nearby visitor centre. other overnight spaces near the blue john mines nearby.

  • 3/5

Very busy and noisy. Don't think we will be returning although if you want to visit the local attractions parking is easy.

  • 4/5

Great spot quiet and fab views next to Odin’s mine

  • 4/5

A great place to visit for walking and the views directly from the parking are fantastic. Good 4G signal, good access and no parking restrictions. Stayed here many times over the years and the only issue is you'll always get youths zoom past late in the evening so best not to park near the turning area at the end where they stop for a while before zooming back again!

  • 4/5

A great place to stop, I parked next to the crushing circle.
